Tom Scott -  you are a hoot!  Just not sure if you can or can't putt and chip.  Typo?

Kathy, we are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.  She was a lovely lady who had to put up with so much from your dad.  You are lucky to have had her for so long.  Also, happy belated birthday!  We have had almost non-stop guests at the cottage so it was difficult to find time to go on line.  Maybe we can get together for dinner while you are in Michigan.  Give me a call when you are free.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and also with Arlene at this most difficult time.  Love, Sheri and Bob

Ok, Tom, are you in the study that examines the "grumpy old men" theory or what?

So much going on for so many, just want to add my sentiments for happy and sad occasions to all the warm and wonderful postings over the last few weeks. All those writing assignments seem to have the born fruits of expression.

Regarding the web site renewal, since Mike and I think Tom S. asked,  it comes up in Feb., and the new price is $140.00 for the year. Have been keeping a log as folks kicked in and there is $90.00 in the kitty. The go-daddy domain name fee is minimal and my treat.

Tom, it is called golf.  The game is designed to make us think it is so simple, while in reality it is a maddening exercise meant to frustrate the intellect.  If you are like me, you tell the ball just what to do.  Some listen and some are deaf as a rock.  Celebrate the good shots and let the golf gods try to figure out what to do with those that will not behave.  A little bourbon (well maybe a lot) helps restore your faith in the game.

Dave I use the lassie method, I look at the ball (which is Lassie) I say fine Timmy he is in the hole. Lassie must be a slow learner, finds the trap mist of the time

To all the golfers out there. We all know why they  called it golf. All the other four letter words were taken.

Enjoy before the weather turns. Here wed was 102, today, a pleasent 82.

OB - I believe that originally it was called flog, which as we all know was an acceptable penance for grievous sins.  "Go play 3 par threes, 3 par fours, and 3 par fives and sin no more."  But some dyslexic monk spelled it backwards so  now we have "golf".

Scotty, having played with you I thought that your chipping and putting, while not up to Ryder Cup standards, was fine.  Besides, I have it on the best of authorities that it's not about the chipping and putting, it's about the shoes.

Arlene you were talking about songs for karaoke maybe we could come up with them like old songs and bring it out to our age and see how it fits like the song Life is a Highway it could be life is a bypass I'm sure others can come up with some good lyrics to all songs

To all you North and South Carolina residents....stay safe and let us know how the storm affected you.  Janet, I hope you have not returned to Florida yet!

Update on my childhood home... closing was yesterday and demolition starts today!  Yikes!

Arlene, I am a shade over 100 miles from the coast so we'll probably get 20/25 mph winds with gusts up to 40/45 mph with maybe a couple inches of rain.  (I expect to break 90.)  Scotty and Judy Shields live in the Charlotte area which is another 90 miles inland.  This is little more than an inconvenience for me.  I do have a couple of "refugees" from Myrtle Beach staying with me for around a week and I may get another one or two tonight or tomorrow.  Janet, I, too, hope your timing for your return to Florida is, well, timely.

Happy Birthday Mike Murphy, we all pray that your health is well in hand.

Murph - Happy Birthday!  Hopefully you are feeling great and, if I remember correctly, your wife's birthday is today also, so Happy Birthday to her too.  Praying that your cruise path is not anywhere near the Bahamas!!

Mike Young:  Making the best of the situation with friends (refugees), is noble and actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

Hi Gang:

I think I've mentioned it before but today is my wife's and my birthday. Of course she'll be the first to say, she's younger. Anyway we received the best birthday present ever. I had a petscan and the results can back negative, the cancer is gone. I have been extremely fortunate in that I sailed through the chemo, surgery and radiation. I've got one more chemo and hope it continues as in the past.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes.
Vicki and I are planning numerous trips, some far and wide, some for just a few days.
George and OB, it was good hearing from you. Hope to hear more from you.
Thanks again everyone.
Mike

Mike Murphy

Thank you all or as we say down here, ya al:

for the birthday wishes. Almost HAPPY BIRTHDAY OB, and all others celebrating birthday this month,

Arlene, Sorry I couldn't make up to God's Country for the summer. We had reserved a log home for 2 months but the chemo put the stops to that. I was hoping to see you at the very least at Vida's party.

Scotty, my oncologist who use to be with the VA says it was that "whatever it takes" Marine Attitude that helped my recovery.

I'm praying for all you folks facing Matthew.

Murph
