Pat Diggles

Cynthia and I went to Clearwater, Florida for a week in January.  I've kept in touch with George (Penman) Brown over the last year or so and he has a second home near Clearwater.  So we got together with George and his wife Pat during our trip and had a great visit!  They're both retired military and look great.

Mary Jo - Alvina Pineau is a shirttail relative of mine.  She changed her first name to Rita sometime around high school.  Then we have Loretta who changed her name to Sue (happy birthday!), and Penman who changed his name to George. Any others?  In this crazy time of naming children Blue Ivy or Apple, I wonder if they will someday change their names.

Pat -  thanks for bringing us up-to-date on George (Penman).  Glad he is still with us.  Where does he live when not in Clearwater?

Arlene,

George (Penman) Brown's second home is in Deleware.  I'm not sure in what city.

I know George Brown lives in Rehoboth Beach Delaware because I too live in Delaware.I go to Rehoboth everysummer to enjoy the ocean one of the reasons I love living here onthe east coast.  I will have to look him up.

Did anyone view the hour long film on Fr. Coughlin on U tube this past week called "RadioPriest?"  It gave a good background on him and his fight for social justice.  Also had somes scenes from the Shrine and how he built the Shrine. He spoke from the tower and people came and stood outside and listened to him.  John Mills's mother, Jaqueline Mills, was featured a couple of times.  It just gave me a better picture of him early on.

My grandfather, Clarence Kenney, also sang in the choir at Shrine for years.  He was the bass singer.  He probably knew Mrs. Frye and Arlene's dad.  The choir always sounded so beautiful.  I also sang in the choir in high school and remember at Christmas time my grandfather would pick me up for practice when the high school choir would sing with the regular church choir.

Pat we moved from Rehoboth Beach, DE to Lewes, DE last year (five miles). We are about two miles from the Cape May, NJ -- Lewes, DE Ferry. So if you are heading north or south along the coastal Atlantic route stop or call. Love to see you and Cynthia again. Maybe Falling Waters in the Spring?

Hi and happy Birthday to all I've missed in the last couple weeks !   Speaking of names I was named Marcia at birth but my Dad liked Judy better so it got changed at the final adoption hearing.  But in high school the kids called me Schoen sort of like Tom is Scott, as did my first husband and to date most of his family still refers mainly because there are 3 Judy Scharfs in the family !  So to Loretta and George you'll always be Sue and Penman to me, as I'll probably continue to call Mr Scott, Tom .  going to a Ducks Unlimited affair tonight .....pray for me , it's the price of living in Missouri .

Judy -  who managed to talk you into a Ducks Unlimited affair?  My husband would love it (and has attended in the past), but I would have to be tied and dragged to anything related to hunting.  You do, indeed, have my prayers and admiration!

Kathy Chaivre (Brown)

My first name is actually Mary.  My sister wanted me to be named Kathy after her "best friend" ( she was 3).  When we signed for our first house, I looked like my photo  should be in the post office.  I had many aliases  M Kathryn,  Mary  Kathryn, etc. etc. so I totally get George , Loretta,  Alvina, etc.   love to you all.  You are still the great people I knew many years ago.  " A rose is a  rose...). George, Dick and I. Have only been out east  ( except  Manhattan  where our youngest lives)  and so  loved it.  Can we visit too ?  We would love to see you again.

Kathy love to see you and Dick. Lewes and Rehoboth Beach are resort towns on the Atlantic Ocean/Delaware Bay. The beaches and restaurants make the area the "Summer Capitol" of the USA. The tourists flock to the area from DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and northern Delaware. We live in Lewes from May until December. If you are planning a visit or passing through suggest you schedule during the months of May or Sep through October for best weather and fewest tourists.

Cheers, George

The girls chose a saint so they could look pious. I chose Gordie Howe because he skate shoot score goals. Pete gets up there with that iconic smirk goes through Discourse of praises, and says Fred Howding influenced him the mostdtpa classie Pete

Kathy, Thanks for the insight on Fr Coughlin, I did know he had quite a "career" and the Babe Ruth donated the church building endeavor .   My grandmother filled me in on who he was and what he did for people AND what people in turn for building the Shrine.  I've had many discussions about Shrine with my parish priests here. Though I only spent my senior year at Shrine after moving to Detroit , I've always felt it helped define the beginning of my adult life and it was quite an experience !

Janet ... Ditto ... Judy, get some sleep wink

Judy, I still believe that I am more electronically challenged than you are.  That was a nice try, though.  However, if this attempt was chemically aided, whether it be caffiene, alcohol or whatever, it doesn't qualify.  Sleep deprivation negates the effort also.  It was entertaining.

Scotty, Pete's humor is still with us as long as we remember those episodes and share them as you have.  As Bob Hope would say "Thanks for the memories".  Does anyone recall when Pete put on the boxing gloves and stood toe to toe with Mr Fracassa in the gym in front of the entire student body?  I'm pretty sure that most of us felt that Pete was about to be smacked and probably embarrassed.  However, this was Pete Turnbull and he prompty got in the first two jabs.  I'm not sure who was the most surprised - maybe Mr. Fracassa.

Merry Unbirthday, everyone!!!
