The last 20 years, the short version.
After graduation I tried to get into the Air Force, but was turned down due to too many kidney stones. I wasn’t ready for more school so I went to work. I worked with Thom Ophof at ANO and then at Superfast Lube and Oil before he left for the Air Force. I married Donna Clary (Class of 89) in August 1990 and we had our first child, Marissa, in September ‘92. I quit Super Fast shortly after that and worked a few odd jobs (Autozone, Cogswell Motors, Doug’s Electrical), before going to work at Firestone Tube Plant in ‘93. I worked the night shift, 6 PM until 6 AM. It didn’t take me long to discover I should have stayed in school and I started taking a few classes at ATU. Sydney, our second daughter, was born in July 1997. That same month, I quit Firestone and started working at Computersmiths, Inc. where I served as Internet Sales Manager and later Retail Sales Manager. In June of ‘99 I started working in the Computer Services department at ATU. I decided it would be a good time to finish my degree and starting working in that direction. I graduated in December 2005 with a BS in computer science. Our third daughter, Rylee, was born in October ‘06. I am still working at ATU where I am currently the Director of Academic Technology and Computing/Assistant Director of Computer Services. I absolutely love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else.
