nteresting fact: the airport's IATA code, MCO, stands for the airport's former name, McCoy Air Force Base. The former McCoy Air Force Base consisted of more than 4,420 acres in Orlando, Florida. The site, initially known as Pinecastle Army Airfield, was used for flight training and U-2 reconnaissance flights. By 1978, the base had closed, and all of the land had been deeded to new owners. Maybe you once lived or were stationed at McCoy AFB.
