CONTROLLING MY PERSONAL INFORMATION

Question:  Do I have complete control over how much information I want to share with other classmates?

Answer:  Absolutely.  The questions associated with your profile are designed to help you share as much or as little information as you wish.  You are not required to respond to ANY of the profile questions, and, you have complete control over how much of your personal contact information you wish to make available to classmates.  You also control whether you want your profile information to be indexed by the search engines (like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.)  Be sure to carefully read and select the checkbox options at the end of your profile page to determine how you wish to share the information contained in your personal profile.

Q: Is there any way for me to know when a classmate's profile page has been updated?

A: Yes - you can "subscribe" to receive an email when they update their profile.  Just go to a classmate's profile page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "subscribe" checkbox.  Any time a classmates makes a change to their profile, you will be sent an email alerting you that a change has been made (but you won't be told exactly what changes were made).  Another way to monitor this is by referencing the "Profile Updates" box on the home page.  That box tells you which profiles have been updated most recently.

 PHOTOS

Question: How do I get my photo to show up in my emails?

Answer:  You need to designate one of your photos as your "Master Photo."  Go to the "Edit/Upload Photos" link and select the radio button for "Make this my Master photo."

Question: Can I change the sequence of photos on my profile page?

Answer:  Yes.  You can arrange the sequence of your photos by assigning specific sorting numbers to them.  Go to the "Edit/Upload Photos" link and look for the text "Sort" to the left of a box with the numbers "9999."  If you change the numbers in those boxes to 1, 2, 3, 4 and etc., you will arrange the photos to display in the order you designate by using those numbers.

POSTING INFORMATION

Question: Can I post an announcement for other classmates to read?

Answer:  Yes, you can.  There are two ways you can do this:

1) You can post a message in the "Special Postings" forum.  Typically, this forum allows you to post your message along with one document (or a zip file containing several documents) not exceeding 850 kb in size.  Once posted, you can then also post an announcdement to the class pointing them to your forum message.

2) You can post an announcement to the class by going to the "Post Announcement" link on the left side of the web page.  When you reach the Post Announcement page, click on the gray "Create New Announcement" bar, and create your announcement.  Please try to keep your announcement to 100 words or less - if you need to use more words, then post a more extensive message on the "Special Postings" forum, and then use the "Post Announcement" feature to point classmates to your "Special Postings" text.

When you've completed your announcement, click on the "Save Changes" bar to submit your announcement.  Once approved, your announcement will show up in the blue region of the home page under the UPDATES.  Keep in mind that the information you post will be reviewed and approved by a site administrator before it gets posted, so, it needs to be "family friendly."

ARCHIVED INFORMATION

Question: Are any of the previous UPDATES archived anywhere so I can go back and read them?

Answer: Yes, they are being archived in the Special Postings forum.  UPDATES are the small dated announcements that appear on the home page periodically to alert classmates about events and other items of interest, including new developments associated with this web site.  They are being recycled and posted every one to two months (depending on how many there are...).
