I went to UCF and graduated early - who would have thought? No teaching jobs to be had in December though! After a number of odd jobs, insurance auditor, nanny, etc, I decided to move to New York and help my sister with her newly born son (who just turned 16 - how did that happen so fast?) and look for teaching jobs in New York and New Jersey (my home state!). I found a teaching job in a Catholic school in the Bronx. So I moved out of my sister's nice suburban home into an apartment in downtown Peekskill with a roommate I found in the paper. Talk about giving your parents a heart attack - I think my mother was saying a full rosary every night between where I was living, where I was working, and having a stranger for a roommate! Thankfully I met Steve through my new roommate within 5 days of living in my new apartment. She said she had the perfect guy for me. Guess she was right since I ended up marrying him! Being poor and having just moved in to a new place, I think it was the two bags of groceries Steve brought to me on our 2nd date that sealed the deal for me (now I have come to find out he was just hungry!). He is a great guy who saved me from myself (and that apartment!), by putting me (forcing me) through my masters degree and helping me land that coveted public school job making the big bucks. And I supported him right back putting up with his long night and weekend hours so we now own a successful bicycle business in Scarsdale NY. Along the way with all of this hard work we managed to squeeze in a wedding in 96 and three baby boys (can't believe my oldest is already 10!). Sometimes I look around at the boys and the house and my life and go, when did all of this happen?
