Agree, agree!...So worth the travel! I just wish  that I had stopped dancing for a few minutes to talk to some classmates I saw from the dance floor...but, who could stop?? The efforts you all put into making this a memorable event for all of us is more appreciated than you will ever know.  Everyone was so thrilled and full of love! I told my husband that " it was the best weekend ever!"... Then , oops, added " except for day I met you!" 😄

When Torchy reached out to me five years ago and encouraged me to attend the 50th reunion of what would have been my Shaker graduating class, I had no idea how wonderful that would turn out to be.  My thanks and congratulations to Torchy, Judy Helf and the rest of the people who worked on the reunion.  It was truly something special.  I have been to other reunions at other schools and this topped them all by a mile.

It was so great to reconnect with my childhood through those people I knew from Lomond, Woodbury, SHHS, the Temple, the Mayfair Swim Club and a host of other connections.  Those are my roots and while they are not glamourous enough for a TV movie, they are mine and I will relish them for as long as I have memory.

Donnie, You said it perfectly.Reconnecting

with our childhood friends when life was so carefree made for  an  incredible weekend. Thank you for coming in. Maybe next time I see you I will find your silver ID bracelet.

Dear Classmates -

It was such a major disappointment that I was unable to attend what sounds like a fantastic reuinion!  I was sidelined at the last minute by a nasty ear infection which prevented me from flying across the country. I would have loved to reconnect with so many of you, and I'll be eager to see the pictures you all will post (and will probably make me regret my absence even more)!

The feedback from many of my friends who attended was that not only was the event a well-planned, perfectly executed party, but that we have all mellowed (note I didn't say aged) into amazingly warm and friendly human beings. Fifty years of life after graduation -- jobs, spouses, kids, grandkids, travel, riches, and losses -- and we have honed our lives to embrace the important things and lose the negativity and stresses we might have experienced earlier. You were great Shakerites in 1965, and even better in 2015!

Please let me hear from you. (Facebook Carol Friedman Bargar or email carbaduke@comcast.net). I'm so sorry to have missed everyone, and congratulations to Torchy and committee on a very successful 50th reunion!

Thanks for allowing me to be a "guest" here. Some of you may remember me--I remember many of you, with affection! I attended Woodbury, having moved from Maryland the summer before 7th grade. I had barely started Shaker High when we moved, again, to a suburb of Philadelphia. I think I returned once to Shaker during a school vacation, but very soon lost touch with the majority of you. After high school, I went to Ohio University and was there 1965-69. Tumultuous years, as we all know. I dropped out in 1969 and came to Northern California, where I have lived ever since. I returned to college, twice--once in the 1970's and again in the 1990's--and have had two careers. My husband Pete and I have three grown children together, and four grandchildren. I have been retired since January of this year. Sounds like the reunion was terrific; such a coincidence for me to stumble on this community just around the 50th anniversary of graduation. I never really became part of the high school community I moved to, so I appreciate hearing about you all and how your lives have evolved. Blessings! Carole

Torchy-

I really can't express the gratitude and admiration I feel for you and the reunion committee.  You all took on an enormous task and accomplished THE best results........appearingly with ease and grace.

Simply put, "you out did yourselves"!

Thank-you for the memories!!         Charlene (Dinardo) Usalis

Thank you very much for the hard work that produced the reunion and this website, and for the many photos and reminiscences being collected. May each of us, from time to time, revisit here the names and faces indelibly imprinted on our brains those five and six decades ago.

Torchy, Cookie, and Judy,

Our fiftieth reunion was a fabulous weekend!! I want to add my appreciation to all of the other comments made by our classmates. Thanks to you and anyone else that contributed to this wonderful event. Everything was perfect. I admit that I was a bit nervous about attending, but the minute I walked into the Embassy Suites, all my fears dissolved and I enjoyed every moment of both evenings. It was great seeing old freinds. Thanks again for everything.

I wanted to add to the well deserved kudos to everyone who planned and worked the 50th Reunion gathering. I had a blast. Seeing everyone from the past was so fun, hearing what they have been and are doing with their lives was inspiring and the food was wonderful! Shaker was the best and still is!

Thank you Torchy, Judy, and everyone involved in the reunion. It was done so beautifully.

I'm so glad I even got to have a taste of it. I was very happy to connect with people at the Friday party and at breakfast on Sunday. It's kind of profound to see all of you after so many years...and to have you meet my middle son Tom.

Thank you again,

Betsy

Thank you, Torchy. I have looked many times at my collection of Lomond class photos and at my SHHS Gristmill 1965. Don't remember a couple of the ones you put up, but the rest are indelible.

Well Mimi.....In my mind the Reunion Party is

over. But communication with this technology can

be the next best thing. I do have some final

thoughts and observations but I will save them

for another day. Or maybe write a book.

(Just kidding about that but I feel that I could.)

I am quite certain that in your mind....the reunion is clealry over!

I like the book idea!

Please call me and let's have lunch!

Cheers & be well!

My school was Fernway, which felt smaller and less "social"...but special in its own way. I loved refinding my Fernway classmates and catching up.  I have to admit there was a tinge of jealousy over your many Lomond connections which carried over for years. Nevertheless, I totally enjoyed coming back and reconnecting due to not only your (and the committee's) work on the reunion weekend(which was more complete than any of my current friends experienced at theirs); but your work reconnecting us online for years beforehand. Thanks so much for all your efforts. Barbara
