So we go from '80s boy toys to menopause. Isn't there a middle ground called our 20's in there someplace?

If I have to choose - which is like choosing which testicle to remove - I think we should stay with the '80s boy toys.

Hi Brenda! Scott and I are great! It sounds like you are enjoying Colorado. It must be nice to have your parents there. How close do they live to you? We were planning on attending the reunion, and hope to still be. But we just found out that our boys have their end of season soccer tournament that Sat. Their season has never gone that long, but has to this year for some crazy circumstances. This is the last time they will be on same team together, and Scott coaches the team. So I don't know how it is all going to work out. I am hoping for the best though, even if we have to show up late. It sounds like you will be going. Are you just going for the weekend or making a vacation out of it? You could always make a road trip to Milwaukee...Timer's anyone? Oakland Gyros? See how the old house on Downer is holding up. That was our 20's- I had to throw that in there for Todd. It is great hearing from you Brenda!

Hey Amy,

Tam's b-day is March 15th! Thanks for the offer for babysitting. If we make it back we still have Grandma and Grandpa in town though. Thanks though!

Amy; you sill have that great sence of humor! I became a light sleeper when parenthood started. Also being on 2nd and now 3rd shift does not help. I do not complain its still a job. I am currently training the guy who is going to be taking over my current positon as a large genset assembeler. Seniority rules, it is a bit saddening because it has been the best job I ever had at kohler. And Todd A, I dident think you were that studious. Congratulations, I wish I had some of that 20 years ago. Landing a dream job on top of it, sweet. It will be cool to talk in person with everyone. How time changes our faces, hair lines, and pant sizes. There should be a" stand in time " award for the person who has not changed or changed the least. There must be a few.

Amy~OMG! Stop with the menepause talk! You're freaking me out! How did this happen to us?!?! Go get some tea so you can sleep, and stop talking yourself into menepause...that was for our mothers!

Dawn~I could so go for some Oakland Gyros...will it taste as good if we don't go at bar time? Wonder if that house on Downer could possibly still be standing. And kid's soccer??? Kids screw up everything! We're going to be there both nights (and maybe even at a picnic on Saturday?). Yes, we're making a vacation out of it. Looks like we're going to spend a whole week in WI. Really hope you can make it. I'd love to see you again.

Hey Amy Craemer, were people talking about a homecoming float on here a while back? I remember getting into a little trouble over a float we made in your garage. I believe the theme was "Down em in 4 Quarters". We played the Wildcats and we had a stuffed cat being crushed by a quarter barrel. We were SOOOO clever! Somehow we managed to sneak it into the parade. Mr. Erikson didn't seem to appreciate our humor, AT ALL! Who else worked on that float, Carla?

Alright Tracy, you have piqued my interest. Where's Greis? I saw him about 5 years ago. He was working at a screw factory. Of course, we went threw the whole battery of obvious jokes with that one.

Jeff, long time, no see. Doesn't look like you've changed much. Do you/your dad/Billy still go to the farm hunting? I think I heard you had your own place up in n. WI. I stopped by the farm last summer for the first time in years. Weird.

Amy Cramer (Toth)

It was "Down em in 4 Quarters" and it was a bad ass illegal float!! I just pulled some pics from my naughty H.S. archives and cracked up laughing at the quality we did!! On the front of Knocke's pick up it says "Eat me" and on the back of the pick up it says Ligocki approves!! I remember as we were getting it ready to roll Ligocki walked across the street (he lived on my street) and said he approved! That was the best.......So we popped our non-alcoholic Champagne and we all hauled into the back of Scott's Pick-up and drove up and down Taylor and where ever else and ended up at Bell and When Joel let us in that was Magical. The King and Queen let us stroll right in, actually it was John Raftery driving his parents convertible I think and he stopped the parade to let us in. Ericson was pissed! Parents were mad at him because he pulled us out of the parade. We caught hell on Monday after Homecoming! It was all worth it!! I have great pics. I'll download them on FaceBook if I can get Hubby to help me. Ah, memories. We were all such juveniles. Wait until you see the one I have of Melgard pulling on the WaterBong as we were taking the Bus to Great America on Senior Day. That's a Classic!! It's a nice big 'OL close-up too!!

I mentioned to Brenda doing a posterboard of H.S. memory photos. Have people bring their party pictures/dance pictures/whatever pictures and put them up on a poster board. Would definitely be worth the laugh. The ones that didn't make the yearbooks!!

Brenda Feudner (Zdanowicz)

I think that's a great idea, Amy. i have very few pictures, if any..but I will see what I can come up with Don't worry everyone, mine will not involve bongs. They'll all be very pg as I would have never risked a "naughty" photo album with my Dad! He would have KILLED me!

Hey Dawn, That had to be about three or four years ago when we were at the coffeeshop. Hopefully you can figure out a plan for the reunion weekend, it would be nice to see you again. I don't find it hard to believe that Asche would prefer 80's hot guys over menopause, he still hasn't come to grips with his hot flashes.... What am I saying? I can't believe I got pulled into menopause conversations. What's next girls? Wait... I don't want to know.

Hey Amy, I saw one of us on fb from Carla, what a total freak! I will have to befriend you on fb to see what you have. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It was cool that everyone was on our side with that. All except the one person that mattered most.

As for pix from high school, I don't have many but I can bring in some of mine and Knocke's locker that was a shrine to all things beer. I don't think kids could get away with that anymore. I believe I have some from a punch day that took us to the Holiday Inn in Manty where we absolutely abused the sauna and pool room.

My Dad & I have been visiting Mr. Glaeser at Sunnyridge. His condition has left him unable to speak or move much, but it is not dementia, he is still very lucid.

On a lighter note, you can find some of our former teachers at Manning's Irish Pub. I've seen Simo there many times, & even Mr. Arnott & his wife..plus a few I can't remember off hand..it is an Irish pub! I also see Mr. Tyler once & a while. Having wrestled him in high school, & poured a concrete foundation with him as an adult, I'm here to tell ya that he's stronger than you'd imagine.

If you're going to invite teachers, just don't invite Mr. Gorges. That guy is a total drag!

Laura Stoelb (Quasius)

TIM! That wasn't very nice! You should tell him to come!

Okay I'm going back to the Rick Springfield thing again. I was watching something on VH1 yesterday. I think it was top 100 songs of the 80's. Well Good ole Rick was on there (of course!) and when they showed him now, WOW!!!! He STILL is COMPLETELY HOT!!! I was freaking on some of the people from the 80's and how bad they look, but Rick somehow got even HOTTER if that is possible! DAMN!

Here's one for the 26th St. crew. Do any of you remember the crazy dude Richard that lived next to Schukow's? They were close to Superior Ave. he was the guy who would hang dolls from his trees.

My top five bands in high school. In no particular order.
1. U2
2. REM
3. The Replacements
4. The Cult
5. Love and Rockets

Travis!

Richard! Holy Crap I haven't thought of that freak show in forever! His house was the strangest thing ever. I never whent near it, but remeber hearing he had dirt floors. Lori Reineking and I used to dare each other to trick-or-treat there...I never did...and I probably sitll wouldn't. YIKES! Is he still there? Is he still alive?

And, I must say, I loved your top 5. That's the music I liked back then...still do.

03/18/09 02:03 PM #112

Laura Stoelb (Quasius)

OMG! I remember riding my bike past that house and freaking out!!! I don't know if he's still there. Don't want to know either! eww!

He is long gone. In fact, Schukow's own the property now and use it as off-street parking. How they lived nest to that guy for that long is amazing. I hung with Jaime S. alot back in the day and t and t'd there a couple of times. He had these monster sized hands and gave out a fist full of candy. I'm assuming I ate some of it, it all mixed together in my pillowcase.
As for that band list, I thought it would have been more diffecult, it really only took a few minutes. I'll list my alternate here; Midnight Oil.

Crazy that Glaeser came up. I was just thinking about sending him a note the other day to thank him for mentally kicking me in the ass back in the day. I was dorking around in bio and I recall him telling me that I shouldn't "just go through the motions". I've always remembered that little kernal and have taken it to heart - both in school and in life. Anyway, just one of those cool teacher/student moments from highschool that I'll always remember. Maybe I'll swing by to see him next time I'm in Sheboogie.

Ok, sorry. Back to Rick Springfield.

I agree with you on Mr. Glaeser. I remember Mr Glaeser gave me a good life lesson as did Mr. Rudoll. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.

I had several teachers try to give me life lessons but I refused to hear them. Something about authority in high school rubbed me the wrong way. The only teacher outside of college I can honestly say moved me to be a better person was my 8th grade Spanish teacher Senorita Kaems. She was a former nun who spent alot of time in Guam and only had half a tongue because she chewed tobacco while she was a nun. She told me to take things head-on and overcome those obstacles. She was living proof in my eyes. Plus, she wrote up a referral on the first day (me getting a referral?) and said if I stayed the course the rest of the semester she would not turn it in. I still have that referral to this day. Adios Senorita Kaems.

Hey Travis,
I also remember Senorita Kaems. She was awesome. She really amazed me how she kept going and going and always had such a positive attitude. She taught me a lot, as well, about overcoming things. :)

Whoever knew 26th Street was such a happening place? My grandma lived across the street from you, Brenda, I believe (right next door to John Z.)...it's so funny that I didn't realize you all lived there as well!!

I remember that creepy house...didn't he use to hang all his deer from the trees in fall, too? I remember being driven past there, slowly, by probably Stauber or one of his gang, so they could scare all the girls in the car. Ick!

Travis, you'll have to ask Kris if she remembers when we spent several weekends checking out the rumor that the Masonic temple was being used by devil worshipers. Freaky!

I'll have to dig through my pics, I know I've got a shot of the rebel float as it was pulling into the parade.

03/23/09 11:18 AM #119

Tracy Dickfoss (Reynolds)

Travis... thanks for the trip back to Richard's! Eek! I so remember that place! My mom used to MAKE me go there for T and T. She told me I had to be accepting of people who were different. Um, yeah. Wonderful parenting! It definitely scarred me a bit. I wonder why the Schukow's even bought that land? It's probably a burial ground. Does Jamie still live in the basement of his parents' house?

Hey Laura, see Rick is obviously hotter than heck, still. Thanks for the vote on his part. Unfortunately, my locker was a shrine to all things Rick, so those are the only photos I can likely find to submit.

Todd.... Greis is in the slammer. He should have stuck to the screws, I guess.

Amy, menopause. Seriously. I can't wait to see you with your sweaty outfit (from the hot flashes) and your mustache (from the hormone replacements) at the reunion. Party on!

Is the dressing up in 80's stuff a joke, or are people really going to do it?
