I agree with Breit. I am coming from Tennessee. There are plenty of people I can stay with but it would be nice to stay in a "neutral" area where others are staying at. Also, I am also on a budget, with 3 kids and all, LOL! Besides, I am one of the people who will enjoy more than one beverage and I think it would be safer for those who plan on drinking to have a place to stay at rather than driving. I know that alot of you may not remember me but I did have a good time last year and I am looking forward to next year! By the way, I love this site!!!

Another idea is to have a 'menu' approach. We can have a choice of activities to pick and choose from. I know that we are not the only couple that will have problems fitting hotel costs into our very tight budget.

Pat, I think that is a GREAT idea!!!

I just mention the planning to my wife, who has planned larger conferences in Hot Springs, and she mentioned that if we all stayed at a larger hotel (apparently there are some that can house us all) that we could shoot for conference room rates and probably get the conference room at no extra charge. If the rates are right this might work.
It sounds like Chris has some knowledge of the way things work down there in Hot Springs.
Chris, do you have connections at the hotels which you mentioned before? Are they large enough?

Oh yeah, Gman...I love you too.

Well guys were getting alot good ideas but i'm not seeing very many family freindly. I would like to include my kids in this event. Something like a pic-nic at the lake or even the rec center here in town would be great so we can have something for the kids. Maybe i've grown into a prude but i won't bring my kids where there will be drinking. I think we are all on a budget these days.

Clearly, we have to have an event that's family friendly. If we have to do a two night thing like last time, that's fine. It worked last time. I'm all for having an adults night where alcohol is served and all that, even though I'm not a big drinker. But people are going to want to bring their kids and show em off. We could do homecoming on Friday, picnic early Saturday, and then do the adult thing that night. Whether that's at the country club, Hot Springs, or whereever doesn't matter to me. But it probably does need to be as inexpensive as possible because we don't want anybody excluded. Having said all that, The Belle sounds great. There are plenty of hotels in the area for people that would like to stay and it's not too far of a drive back for those that don't. Just an opinion.

Pat, where are those pics I sent you?

I can only add pictures when I can take my laptop to a place that has DSL/wi-fi. My 28.8 dial-up just doesn't cut it. I will try to have as many of the pictures posted as possible hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday. Sorry for the delay!!!!

The country club was fun last time and it certainly would be cost efficient and easy to plan. I would also attend the football game.

Can we put a donations section up. I see the 88 site has one. This may help alleviate some of the costs and allow us to reduce per person rate.

My biggest concern with having it in Hot Springs, and still trying to fit in a family day is what to do with the kids on Saturday night. Practicallity suggests that we move the family day to Sunday.

Are we planning on going to the Homecoming game before the reunion? What are the odds of being able to have the reunion at the High School in the cafeteria and gym. We could do it up like a homecoming dance.

I like the idea of a cash bar. Seems to be a popular idea in the survey. That will keep everyone honest. It should also help keep the per person costs down. (You can also leave out the caviar, I never really developed a taste for it.)

I am one of those who needs the cost cutters venue. If we do it somewhere around Sheridan, I have a place to stay that doesn't cost.
To be honest, I think I'm looking forward to seeing everyone more than I care where it is. I think Chris' idea of the rec center sounds pretty good. The country club sounds pretty good too.

Pat, thanks for posting some of those pics. I wasn't trying to nag you. I realize you've got a life besides this website. Thanks for what you've done here to bring us together like this.

Well, well, well, Robert Welch is in the house!!! Dude, those pics of you are awesome. I never in a million years would've guessed that was you. But, if memory serves, I did vote you "most likely to die in a jousting competition" so be careful out there. It's great to see you on here.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jamie. I needed a laugh today. Its great to hear from everybody.
Pat, fantastic job on this website.

Hey last week while I was out of town I printed off a bunch of ideas for the weekend for our reunion. I have planned several banquets for our alumni fraternity in the past six years. If we all stay in the same hotel we could get a group rate. As long as I get a room that connects with breit "Cool" Hicks I will be happy. I will look at pricing. I think donations would be a good idea to get the pricing down. $10-$20 a person with over 200 people could go a long way in cutting cost. If we donated 10-20 dollars this month, then 10-20 dollars in 3-4 months it would help makes things cheaper. Just a thought. Give me about an hour and I will have a decent plan on events for our reunion. I printed out several ideas last week, just need to put them together.

Ok here is what I have come up with for our reunion. Friday night we could have it at the Austin Resort or the Lake Hamilton Resort Center. I like the Austin hotel better, b/c it is in the heart of downtown Hot Springs. It can accommodate up to 400 people. We could have a full catering w/ an open bar there if we wanted. Believe it or not I quit drinking, but don’t worry Cool Hicks I am still crazy without it! They have audio and visual availability. We could show clips off the MASH play, homecoming, football highlights, and can’t leave out graduation. If anyone else has any VCR tapes or CD let me know, that is just what I have in my possession. We could also get a DJ and karaoke for Cool Hicks and Tex Campbell to entertain the good folks of the class of 1989!

Now comes Saturday, we could have family day at Magic Springs would be nice, but Hot Springs offers other acitivities as well. They have the Mountain Tower, Tour of the Ducks, Mid America Museum, Garvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs Baths and Spas, and of course the Historic Downtown Hot Springs. We could also play golf, or go to the lake for family day.

Saturday night we could go for a cruise on the Belle of Hot Springs. They have special group rates discounts for 20 or more people. They can accommodate up to 400 people if I read that right. Then after that we could go back to the hotel and reflect on a great weekend. That is just an idea I have come up with that I have done twice in Hot Springs with my Alumni Fraternity. We had a blast! But I will tell you this time is wasting, the sooner the better! Pat was definitely right about that! Some of you may want to do just one night and some may like doing something Friday and Saturday night. I haven’t lived in Sheridan in over 20 years, and I haven’t seen some of you in a very long time. Me personally I would like a weekend reunion, but I am one person out of about 250 people so I will go with the flow. I will call and check on prices for the Austin Hotel, The Belle of Hot Springs, and Magic Springs. I will see about a group rate for all three events. Just let me know what you think? I know my English writing is horrible, but who could study in Mrs. Rainbolts room with Cool Hicks disrupting class!

Somebody turn Tex off. I am blushing too much.

Who would ever have guessed that Chris Campbell, David Fort, Breit Hicks and Jamie Gartman would be organizing the 20-year reunion??? Kidding guys! I'm actually very impressed with your creativity and organizational skills. You're doing a great job of trying to accommodate everyone's financial issues, as well as the family vs. adult activities issues.

I don't think anyone has handfuls of extra money in the current financial state of the union, and I'm sure everyone has had to use more of their disposable income for necessities like gas and groceries. That being said, I do feel like our 20 year reunion is a special occasion and should be treated like any other special occasion worthy of spending some money to enjoy, like a 16th birthday or wedding or anniversary. Since we are getting a good start on planning this reunion well in advance of the actual date (I'm guessing it will be some time in the late summer or early fall next year), then everyone can plan in advance to put back a little money from each paycheck in anticipation of this event. Just $20 a month would make a big difference when it's time for the reunion.

I love the idea of a being able to make a donation, too. Even a small amount from just half the class members could make a big difference in the overall prices of the various activities.

Again, great ideas everyone!

I'm all for the donation option and we are capable of doing that like the class of 88. I am holding off on adding that until we begin having some 'official' meetings to start the planning of the reunion. After that we can also activate our reunion page on this site as well.

Everyone of our classmates that had their senior picture in the yearbook should now have that picture by their name in their profile on the website. Anyone whose senior picture is missing can e-mail it to me at sheridanclassof89@gmail.com so that I can add it. We will have some additional website features to be added over the next few weeks too...keep checking periodically for updates.

I am really liking Chris' idea!!! I would be able to afford that!

And my sweater was in that car, dammit! You still owe me a sweater!

Cymber, you could do a lot worse than Chris Campbell, Breit Hicks, David Fort, and Jamie Gartman. David and I just need a good nickname like "Tex" or "Cool". Is "T-Bone" taken? (Seinfeld reference)

I don't think I've ever lived down the infamous Clinton hug or the old hearse. I still hear about both of those whenever I get together with people from "back in da day." You know the worst part of the whole Clinton hug? The guys who bet me to do it never paid up.

Richard, I have a picture of you passed out on that tent pad and McIver passed out on the picnic table. I remember it was cold that night. At least Gaddis and I had his truck to sleep in. I also remember Gaddis(not sober) speeding around those curves on Iron Mountain and me thinking to myself "Well, I've had a good 17 years. It's been a good run." Fortunately for me, Gaddis had plenty of driving experience(not sober).

Robert, did you ever give the Governor his wallet back?

Sorry Jamie, you can't have T-bone, George would get upset worlds would collide, and we can't do that to George. Breit is a teacher, I think he will probably have a knickname for you.
