Mary Motz, Our prayers are with you and Rick during this time of uncertainty. I will send a note to Mary Kay.

Patty, I do remember that Bob LaFleur played in a band, but the names escape me. And Russ is currently playing with a band in southern California, as he indicated to me a few months ago.

Pam, The Cash Cab's latest inquiry, maybe Mike remembers this one. For 150 points, and a Merry Christmas wish, "Heelan's football team gave out annually the George Gillbronson Award,. What position on the team was the recipient of this award? and who received it in 1968?.. Hint: This young man was quite the player. Drove in every day from Moville and once ran over to the sideline during a game and had the coach straighten two of his fingers as he had just broken. Never missed a down. Now that was all the justification that the coaches needed to name him the recipient.

Thanks, Reggie! We just got back from Iowa City and seeing Rick's surgeon. All is great! The surgery got all the cancer and it had not spread at all. No treatments needed! Very good news...I think the football player you are talking about had to be Cowboy Bob Christopherson..maybe?

Thanks to everyone involved in organizing our 40th reunion. It was great to see so many old friends! I wish we could get together more often and I'm definitely looking forward to our 45th. I'm especially happy to hear the good news regarding Rick and Mary and the results of your trip to Iowa City. Best wishes to all my classmates for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

THE IOWA HAWKEYES PLAYED ONE HECK OF A GAME AGAINST GEORGIA TECH. EXCEPT FOR A PLAY OR TWO, THE HAWKS OWNED THEM. HOW ABOUT THAT DEFENSE. THEN AGAIN, HOW ABOUT THAT "YOUNGSTER FROM SOUTH DAKOTA, AND BISHOP HEELAN" FRESHMAN RED SHIRT BRANDON WEGHER, 113 YDS RUSHING AND GAME WINNING TD.

THIS QUESTION IS AGAIN SLANTED TOWARDS OUR FOOTBALL TEAM. THE COACHES RELIED ON ONE OF OUR OWN TO HANDLE THE "STATS" FOR BOTH THE OFFENSE AND THE DEFENSE. THUS, HE EARNED THE NICK NAME, "ALEX". FOR THE S C JOURNALS SPORTS WRITER, ALEX STODDARD.

THAT NUMBER CRUNCHING WAS LATER LINKED TO A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF HAIR LOSS. CORRECT ANSWER WILL SEAT YOU AT THE SAME TABLE AT THE NEXT REUNION

Answer to Cash Cab question on George Gilbronson Award recipient,
Spoke with Sheila Parks, Donny's younger sister and wife of Pat Rooney. Donny was in fact the recipient of that award when he was a senior and we were juniors. That award was later changed to the Don Flemming Hard Hitting Award.

For the newest in the Cash Cab quizes. One of our classmates has a nephew who is getting married on 10/10/10. This classmate grew up on the near northside and attended Epiphany. This nephew is marrying a young lady from Denver who is competing in the 2010 Olympics.

For 500 Cash Cab points, what sport is this young lady competing in???

Mogels, or down hill and who is our classmate?

So how are follow classmates doing with this years March Madness?

Sure everyone thought they had the best picks until the first day was completed. How about you guys who thought Kansas was 11 points better than a mid major like the University of Northern Iowa. Well, not in 2010.

Maybe Duke is the next biggy to take a fall. We'll see.

So who's your winner this year. 500 bonus points if you commit to it now. State it here and we'll see in the next few weeks.

I think we were seniors. Mike sandbagged. He remembers working in the dark. All of a sudden bright lights were shining on them and they could see what they were doing. It was great. Then the NBC news crew left and they were in the dark again!

I remember sandbagging all through the night.  The big cement trucks carrying the sand out.  We would fill the bags and use wire ties with an eye on both ends.  We had a tool that had a rotating hook on the end to twist the ties tight.  I remember coming back to school in the morning about the time the kids were just getting there.  I can't remember after going home and cleaning up if I went back to school or just fell asleep.  It was a blurr I'm sure.
