I think the game is a great idea!! I'll help in any way you need -- I'd be happy to announce the players names, but as for the play by play -- unless you want me to be rating who's ass looks the best in their uniform, I don't think I'm the girl for the job!! LOL Especially if I had to rate the 2008ers -- I have two daughters older than them -- eww!! But I think we might be onto something with the drill team!! Hmm, I wonder who we could possibly get to choreograph something?!?!? I am getting so excited to see everyone!!
BTW......my oldest daughter wants to know if she can consider this to be her reunion as well?! HAHAHAHAHA

First of all Tina, "Are you crazy?" I COULD lead a cheer but a drill team dance is going alittle far. I'm in Momma mode, I suggested to Todd a concession stand, hot dogs & soda for a $1 or a loose meat for $2.

I felt, and I ran it by Gerald (who agreed) that one night is not enough....

ElFREDO's 6:30pm-10PM (only because they close)
Friday July 25

I already reserved the smaller room and if I get a decent response they will let us have the bigger one.
No one HAS to RSVP or anything, if you show you show, but there will be a handful of us having some good ole pizza pie, drinking a beer (legally), and not in the parking lot, talk about the good ole days of 1988.
Let me know if anyone else is interested....

Also Awesome Biker Nights is next weekend downtown 4th Street, June 20-21 $10 per day
Sat 10PM West Stage NIGHT RANGER who couldn't use a little "Sister Christain" these days?

Oh and JRob I will also have to put in my 2 cents on the best burger around...ICKEY NICKLE by far has the best burger in town. Don't get me wrong, I went to Wayne State and have had my share of Martinsburg burgers and they were good in their time but the Nickel is the place to try these days!!! Oh and it is a very clean establishment!

Hope everyone is having a good summer
see ya all soon...

Robin

Hey robin what day are you talking about everyone meeting for pizza and legal drinking,i kinda miss the good ole days when you had to sneak around to drink, being legal just means we are old.

Robin,
Great idea for ElFredo's on Friday night. Count me in for helping out at the game on Saturday I would be happy to help. However, I will not be playing ball with Tina, cheerleading or dancing...I've already had knee surgery.

Ron Friday night July 25 6:30ish, Ron last year we were at graduation party in Iowa City everyone was getting carded even my 37 yo husband, so here I stood digging out my id because my purse like every other mom is a suitcase and when I got up there and handed it to the punk he said "oh we don't need yours, What are you like 40/45!!!"

Carol Thanks for the offer for Saturday, Todd and I have been bouncing ideas back and forth. I'll be in Minneaplois until Thurs and then I suggested we get together about the game to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row, your not obligated but are welcome.

See ya Soon
Robin

El Fredo's sounds like a fun idea. And I love their pizza. I always think of El Fredo's when I hear "Ms. PacMan" :)

As far as basketball, cheerleading, etc,,,I am definitely OUT for the cheer and dance. But might be up for a little bit of basketball, or at least free throws. Todd, you are right: Tina did have a killer jump shot!

Robin,

The Elfredo's idea sounds great! I will be booking my flight for that Thursday, and will also be able to help out for the game on Saturday. I will be staying at the Carol Debauche - Yandell Marriot, so whatever she signs up for I will be there to help as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Teri~
El Fredo's still has "Ms Pac Man" -- I have to play it every time we go there - my kids think I'm completely crazy!! LOL But now you can put more quarters in and keep playing from where you're at....I hate that - the thrill of beating high score is no longer an option, unless you keep putting in quarters and play for about 3 days!!

Count me in for basketball. Todd, you still have of those things that keep you glasses on?

Lori, I agree that playing to "win" would be more fun, but hey at least it's still there!

JROB and Robin: so you two have a "Best Burger" contest going on. I have no idea really, but I did have a philly at Sugar Daddy's today, and it was tasty :) I didn't stay in town long enough for Night Ranger, but I am sure it will be a great time for whoever goes.

Hey all, some of us have been tossing the idea around about getting shirts made up for the reunion. We may put up a poll for that to see what the interest level is, (and you can post your thoughts on that here if you want). If enough are interested then what sizes, etc are needed. We just don't want to get stuck with a bunch, and I assume the more you buy the cheaper they are so if there is enough interest, we could surely do it.

Teri

Hey Robin,

Friday my wife and I went to Bob's Bar in Martinsburg, and tonight we went to the Ickey Nickel. The only Ickey Nickel burger which was comparable to Bob's was the Big Cheeseburger. It was a good burger -- almost as good as Bob's. But, the sides at the Ickey Nickel couldn't even begin to compare with the sides at Bob's Bar. I appreciate the recommendation and I did enjoy the burger, but I'm still saying that Bob's is superior. I hope that other burger aficionados voice their opinions.

When I was in Sioux City last week I also stopped by the Icky Nickel. I didnt have the burger. I did have the Grey Goose and it was great.

Kelly Dempsey (Kuehl)

Robin what the heck? Celeste and I didn't make the cut in mentioning how great it was to see us downtown on Friday night? That is so wrong! Not sure where we lost you at down there and I am pretty sure I didn't see you there on Saturday. Friday night was like a West High All Class Reunion. Had a lot of fun! See you in July! Brian Rich and I are thinking Ickey Nickel on Friday the 25th for anyone interested!

Tina Blackburn (Benton)

Okay...Where are we meeting up on Friday? Robin mentioned Elfredo's, Kelly mentioned Ickey Nickel. What about the basketball game, I haven't seen anything posted lately on that? I can't believe it is only weeks away, can't wait to see everyone!! By the way, how many people do we expect on Sunday at the picnic?

07/02/08 12:36 AM #30

Teri Guy (Skrdla)

hey tina. :) i know we are sure quiet in here lately...summer is just so busy! it will be great to see everyone. todd, did you get the location confirmed for the bball game?
tina, check the link called LIST OF WHO'S COMING on the left. actually, everyone who has paid should check there to make sure we haven't made any mistakes, etc. We still need to add the list of who is stating they are coming to BA's.

oh, and for the record, i actually just found a photo from WEST JR's talent show, circa 1983...real live break dancing on a stage. i can't make out who it is, you know those kodak disc cameras were cameras at their finest! i should post the photo. maybe whoever it was will remember.

West Jr Talent Show!!! I recall the highlight was Jamie Drake, Jerry Turner, and others break dancing. I wanted to be just like them, and that started me on the path to where I am today.

Jam on it! Jam on it!

The basketball game is officially on. Just yesterday the location was confirmed--West Middle School gym. The game will be played at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26th. Admission will be $3. All players and volunteers can show up at least an hour early to warm up, stretch, plan, and trash talk.

I haven't had time with working summer school by day and cross country by evening to get us 88ers a jersey to wear. After about the 7th gray goose (i.e. vodka wtih more vodka on the rocks) Terry Shrank pledged to buy all the 88ers a jersey. Not sure if Terry even remembers saying that. Maybe he'll remember when the bill comes.

I'll let you know about the tops, but for shorts let's go retro black. Remember Stapleton issue P.E. uniforms? (black Dodger (very) shorts and white t-shirts?) Feel free to wear black shorts of 21st century length. No jock check required this time.

John, I'm losing that Kirk Rambus-look with shades on a strap. Wow, can you all please just burn my junior year photo?

Robin, for advertising I'm going to put an ad in the Sioux City Journal. Thanks for all who have been will to volunteer to play and help out! One thing Robin and I have talked about is selling some refreshments at the game. If you're interested in helping out with food sales at the game, please give me a call or write me back here. Phone # (712) 258-6995 or (712) 203-9414.

Also for half-time I have invited Mr. Lyle and I will ask Coach Hinrich and Coach Moore to come. Please feel free to call and invite any teacher that inspired you to be honored at half time.

Lastly, at half time I want to do a FUNdraising auction. Bring anything you'd be willing to donate and we'll have a quick auction to raise money for West High Athletics. For example, If Jamie Drake still has his shiny red basketball shoes from his sophmore season, he could bring them and we'd auction off those unforgettable shoes. I'd at least pay a dollar for those red shoes. It's just a fun white elephant kind of idea for half-time laughs.

john! you remember all that! woohoo! i just looked at the photo, still can't tell, but i bet it is jerry and jamie...and this is ringing a bell...maybe john slate or phillip drappeaux?

TODD! you are killin me! as long as we are having a photo-burning event, let's throw my eigth grade one in there and make it a bon fire. i had a STICKER on my GLASSES??? what was i thinking??

If at all possible I would like to get a head count of everyone that is going to play. That way I can figure out numbers and shirts. Please email me with your number request. 21 is taken sorry. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

07/15/08 05:07 PM #35

Todd Siefker

note to all basketball players...

I'm placing an order for our retro jerseys within the next couple days. I'm going to order an XL unless I hear from you.

Also, Schrank remembered he had offered to pay for all the jerseys--which is impressive given the number of gray geese he ingested that night--but I thought I'd put this out there. It cost $20 dollars to make a jersey. If you'd like to contribute half to the Terry Schrank Jersey Fund I doubt Terry would be offended.

Brock Peterson is in for some b-ball. we have about 12 people to face these teenagers. I've been running with the cross country team, but yesterday I played a pick up basketball game with the kids we'll be facing on the 26th and after 5 minutes I was in a state of serious oxygen deficency. I forsee the Hinrich notion of running as hard as you can and calling for a sub actually working for the first time.

Well as long as we have Brock, then I'm sure we'll be okay. Let's see a roster and projected lineup! Where is my place on the bench? No one has my bench moves.

Todd Siefker

Teri, In case I get the sound system up and running, can you bring some 80s music to the game for the pre-game warm ups?

John, You're right. They'll have no answer to the "Brock Factor" Off the top of my head the roster looks like:

Steve Evans
Fred Key
Terry Schrank
Gerald Sims
Corey Robinson

Todd Siefker
Todd Haukup
Marvin Triplett
John Iverson
Ron Hayden
Brock Peterson
Brian Rich
Dave Carmen
