I spent 23 years in Military service, 9 years active Navy as a Hospital Corpsman (Marine FMF) 14 years National Guard. I am receiving my military pension since March 9, 2011.
I am a Lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus where I am a Past Grand Knight.
I volunteer with Morrison County chapter of Minnesota citizens concerned for life and have served as their chairman years 2000-2001 and from 2019 to the present (2024). I also volunteer and work at retreats for Central Minnesota Together Encountering christ located near Little Falls and Residents Encountering Christ (prison ministry), and Veterans Encounter Christ. I am the chaplain for the American Legion in Little Falls. I am a member of the Memorial Rifle Squad which do honors at the funerals for the Minnesota Veterans State Cemetary. I am also a member of the honor guard for the American Legion Post 46.
Through a recommendation by the Valhalla Detachment of the Marine Corps League that a image of a Corpsman be included in the Marine painting at the Minnesota veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley, I had the honor to pose for the Marine Painting. Photo used for the pose and a picture of the painting is uploaded to my profile gallery.
Colleen and I have been married since 1980. We live in Little Falls Mn
The picture on my profile is just after I gave My Son Nathan his first salute at his commissioning ceremony. Nathan was stationed in Iraq in 2009-2012, He has been deployed to Korea, and Poland. He was promoted to Major effective March 1, 2019 which now makes him a field officer.
I have two sons and one daughter. I have eight living grandchildren four boys and four girls.
My school memories involve:
Randy Porwoll giving me a ride to school in his Antique Model A car.
I remember the year we failed to make the quota selling Fanny Farmer Candies and as a result did not get a earned day off. A bunch of students blocked the lunch room door in protest. As I did not agree with the boycott I entered into the lunch room by a back door which did not make me popular with the protesters. I think the school decided to give us a half day off which we did not deserve.
I also remember a Blizzard my freshman year where school was let off early. I was cleaning classrooms to work off half my tuition but one of the Sisters/teacher whose room I was to clean said I had to stay as the reason for the early out was for those who lived in the country. She was wrong, I stopped at a few strangers doors asking to warm up while walking home. It was near zero visibility.
