Hey Karen Garaghty, thanks for sharing your husband Joe with Sue and I on Saturday! I'm not a carpenter and he got things moving!

My retirement plaque arrived today, so it's official. Nice, but I was hoping that they would inscribe "To the BEST MNDOT worker, EVER!"
Oh well, "🎼Thanks for the memories 🎶. . ."

May be an image of text that says 'Steve SteveHardy Hardy In appreciation and recognition for your years of service mı DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Metro District Minnesota Û October2, 2007 Jun'

Hey Sue, how is the recovery? Are you doing well? Doug?  Hope this summer finds everyone healthy and well!

07/15/22 01:58 PM #2104

Susan Orth

My recovery hasn't gone well. Hamstring is semi-reattached, but the pain continues to get worse. Doc's are searching for answers. I live on very strong pain meds and laying on my right side. Not ideal, but...
Thanks for checking on me Dave, I really appreciate it. Send any spare prayers out here, they will be greatly appreciated.
Bless all of you and your families! Sue

Sue, I will be praying more... thought you would heal well. I'm sorry for the painful time!

Hope the Drs come up with something Sue.  Maybe a nerve ablation or something other than drugs.  🙏🙏🙏🤞

07/17/22 11:08 AM #2107

Susan Orth

They have tried nerve ablation a couple of times, same with injections and finally the surgery, still no success. Drugs are the only thing that takes the edge off, a bit. Thanks for the prayers!

Sue, I find it amazing how pain killers are able to take away the pain; and, the brain is still functional. Nurses and doctors over the years have said things like, "That morphine would knock you or I out; and yet, they are clear minded." Still praying for you! If you don't mind, let us know how you are doing (with future updates).

From Kevin's Facebook account:

From Curtis Wood, Kevin's Brother.
It's always sad to share something like this when it happens, but it is important to offer up the info to concerned extended family and friends when it does...
My Brother, Kevin Fredrick Wood, age 66, passed away early Friday morning, July 22.
He had been under Hospice care and in Assisted Living for the last two years.
Kevin asked that his remains be donated to science. When his ashes are returned by Research for Life, there will be a private family memorial in Minneapolis later this fall.

Where did summer go? August already!!
Wishing all those with birthday's in August a very special day!
How is it that the grass turns brown and the weeds get taller and greener! Hot day! I need more ice cream!

And it's almost State Fair time..
I could go for some cheese curds..

08/05/22 12:37 PM #2112

Susan Orth

I was just thinking about the MN state fair! My grandchildren would love it. We are going to our little county fair tonight. I will only be able to participate in the eating. But, that's ok by me. Hoping to get a corn dog, cheese curds and a smoked turkey leg.
On the medical side of things, none of the treatments have worked. Going to have a different brand of spine cord stimulator implanted and see if that will help. I had one implanted in October of 2020, but it doesn't work. That is a Nevro, new doc is putting in a Boston Scientific. Keep your fingers and toes crossed!
For tonight, drug myself up and carry my special cushion around with me. Thanks!

Hope the new tech works Susan.  Chronic pain is a horrible thing to have to endure.  I'm looking forward to genuine Pronto Pups at the fair.  Cannot find then anywhere otherwise.  Corn dogs are NOT Pronto pups.  If anybody know where genuine Pronto Pups hide out please share.

08/07/22 12:44 PM #2114

Thomas Cockriel

Pronto pups are made with pancake batter where corn dogs are made with corn meal batter. I think you can buy them on line.

Theodore Williams

Yes Tom.  Wheat based vs Corn based.  I just haven't found a truck anywhere that has them outside of the fair.  Tnx for the tip.

Robert Ayre

Dennis it sounds like you and your wife did everything right. I am sure she is smiling and being your guardian angel!

Where did summer go!! I wish I could join the retired classmates. But I have to stay busy, so I may as well get paid.

Susan I hope they have found the right solution to ease or take away your pain. Stay safe and healthy everyone!

08/17/22 09:51 AM #2119

David Frazer

Dennis, congratulations on reaching a milestone where you can retire knowing you did well! Bob, your right, the summer is almost over (and I can't retire either for some reason), and we still didn't get those invitations to your house for hotdogs and hamburgers (what's a couple of hundred people for a picnic party?)! sad

08/17/22 11:27 AM #2120

Susan Orth

Retirement is great, if it is your choice, not so much when you are forced into it.
Pain continues to get worse each day. Next step is to change my spine cord stimulator from a Nevro brand to a Boston Scientific one. That happens on the 12th of September. If that doesn't help, then the last thing to try is a pain pump. I guess when the opioid are delivered in liquid form directly where the pain is, it is more effective and they can use less. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and good wishes , it means a lot more than you can imagine. Blessings on all of you and your family!

08/17/22 06:14 PM #2121

Diane Klug (Gunter)

Susan, I just pray that God will give your doctors wisdom in your treatment and you can find healing in your body. Chronic pain isn't anything fun to live with and I pray that you The answers you need and are painful
