Graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1973, and went to work in the family business. Started our Distribution yard in 1979. We now deliver in seven states. My profession has allowed me to travel all over North America. I served as Chairman of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) in 2000-2001. I sold the business in 2011, but continued to work with the new owners. In 2021, I got a new lease from the owners; sold the new lease and the property in to the IRS section 1031 property exchange, and retired April 30 2021.

My wife and I play a lot of golf these days. She has become quite an accomplished golfer in a short time. We own a home at Hound Ears Golf Club, near Boone, NC. and spend much of the Summer up there. We both sing in the Choir at First ARP Church, in Statesville. We also enjoy our grandchildren, especially hurricane Alex.
