I had hoped to see more T-birds logged in. Hope everyone is doing well. I didn't make it to Masa's. Having 7 children makes that a bit complicated. A babysitter doesn't come easy or cheap with a family like mine. I'll try to make it to the next one. Keep up the good work...

I seriously think we should lay off of the pre-reunion reunions. The last two have had very low turnout and everyone is going to get burned out on the idea before the reunion ever gets here.

I think that it's a very good idea. I had fun even though not too many people showed up. I seen some people that I haven't seen in years. Looking forward to the next party. Hope to see more people this time. See you there!!!

I see what you're sayin' Tony. But I gotta go with Saweth on this one. Still good to see ppl, no matter how low the turnout. See whoever @ The Swiss on 4/17 baby! Oh yeah, Saweth - text me, since I need to find a good venue for our get-together on 5/2!!!!

Having pre-reunion functions are cool, just as long as PEOPLE SHOW UP.

We shouldn't do them anymore at an actual club. It's too loud to hear anybody and there's never any room to chill except outside where its colder than a polar bears toenail.

The first gathering at the swiss was still a little crowded, but not too bad. There are plenty of other locations to drink and socialize with music.

The Vault doesn't sound like a bad spot for the actual reunion. I really hope everybody can turn out that night.
What I really like is Jessica's idea of having a potluck at a park the day after where people can bring their families etc...

Yeah, I definitely hope the reunion turns into a 2 day event. Having a chill day at a park or wherever is a really good idea. But I think I'll be M.I.A. until the actual event arrives.

haha, I feel you Tony. And Marques, you're right, Masa's was a bad idea. I should've done more research b/f pickin' the venue. Won't make the same mistake twice, for sure. I'll keep ya'll posted . . . And oh yeah, I'm bringing up jessica's idea to the reunion committee. Talk soon . . .

Shannon Kenyon (Ryan)

Masa's was a bad idea. Went and stood in line (behind Tofu as a matter of act.) Couldn't get in because some blonde chick and friends jumped in and went in with TJ and friends leaving two lady t-birds stranded outside not cool man.

Tofu Jon Asaeli

Shannon, why didn't you grab my attention?! It may have been a decade, but I would've still recognized you. I'm really, really sorry. That is NOT COOL. I was already drunk when I got to Masa's, so if you if you did try to grab my attention and I wasn't responsive, MY BAD!

Like I said on my last post, Masa's was a bad idea - I had never been, I just heard it was cool. But I should've done more research. Anyhooo, I'll buy you a drink if you make it to the next get-together! And I'll never schedule another get-together @ a nightclub again . . . Scout's honor . . .

I take some blame for Masa as well Tok (Tofu)! I had no idea it was going to get that crowded since I had never been either.

Pre-reunion reunions! hahahaha, ya know, there's lot of fun spots that shouldn't be too crowded that we can take over....unfortunately, they're probably all in Seattle, oh!...but in Tacoma there's the: Clover Leaf, Tower Lanes, we should pretty much pick a hole-in-the-wall that's a gaurantee to not be packed and simply take over....I think that would be a helluva pre-reunion reunion...either that or simply old school house party at Hunter's house..

This sucks being like 2800 miles away. I wanna hang out too. :(

You guys are killin' me with the October reunion date.

04/07/09 07:10 PM #27

Saweth Liv

when is the actual reunion date?? I hope it's not Oct. 17th.

04/07/09 07:28 PM #28

Sarah Wutz (Welcher)

I agree, no October 17th or the cool kids will be out! LOL
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

04/08/09 11:44 AM #29

Jessica Larson

My issue with the October date is that it will make it hard to have the family day I proposed in message #9 above (I think it was #9). However, if the majority of MT alums like Oct, I'm not going to be mad at the committee for choosing that date. It takes a lot of effort to put events together so please don't give them too much flack. A little is okay :-). With a group this large, I'm sure they are not going to please everyone.

04/08/09 02:10 PM #30

Shannon Kenyon (Ryan)

I agree with all above about Oct. 17. I love Jessica's idea of a two day event, in which family can be involved. Any chance we could do a summer potluck bbq thing and the Oct. evening thing. It would give everyone a chance to be involoved in some way.

T-BIRDS FOR LIFE!!!

ORDER, ORDER IN THE COURT! Lol, j/p. So I understand you guys' concern about Oct. 17th - it's not the best time of year, weather-wise. Plus, those of us w/kids in school . . . will have kids in school. Unfortunately, when we started planning this back in January, most summer dates for viable venues were already booked.

We almost found a date in September, but that fell through. This is now our reality - a majority of T-Birds that responded picked the October date over the August date - pretty much b/c the August date was a Friday.

Jessica's ideas were great - I am still trying to see if we can incorporate some of those into the reunion planning (including what you mentioned, Shannon). And Jessica's right - we can't please everyone. But we're still trying!

Putting together such an event is quite a task. Even then, I assure you that we are doing our best to make this a memorable success. Expect nothing less. Details will be available soon . . . See ya'll @ the next get-together!!! T-BIRDS!!!

04/09/09 11:12 AM #33

Shannon Kenyon (Ryan)

We appreciate everything the planners are doing. It is we are not being critical of you at all, we are just really expressing our dissappoinment at not being involved in what we know will be a great time.

04/09/09 11:58 AM #34

Tofu Jon Asaeli

Hey Shannon. You, as well as anybody else, are more than welcome to share any thoughts, ideas, etc. for the reunion. That includes hopping on the committee. 2 heads are better than one - trust me, there are more than 2 people on the committee, I'm just saying . . . If you want to, hollaaaaaa . . .

04/09/09 01:10 PM #35

Anthony Miller

Here's my thought on the whole thing. If the reunion is held in August you can easily get a two day event out of it. Friday Night at the Vault or wherever and Saturday at a park. Some may be available to attend 1 day and not the other. If it's in October you'll only get one day out of the thing, because who wants to go to a park in the middle of October. August gives people the possiblity of two options to attend instead of only one.

04/09/09 02:52 PM #36

Timothy J. Cornelius II

tony(anthony) is right! summer is the best time for the two day event. if its done in october it can really only be a one day event. august is so much better, plus all the t-birds with kids will get a chance to show them off! and i know you all wanna! hell if i had kids i would want to as well! summer will make it easier for the people traveling from across the country with kids too! i dont know how it looks for venues around that time but i know theres something out there still, if you guys need help finding one i will be glad to help out as much as i can. in fact i have a number i got from Mrs. Lawson at the new Mt.Tahoma campus for this such thing its **1-888-866-8842** they are a company that does reunions and all the planning, i think. they were doing class of 79 and 89 already when i called. so its worth a shot to call and see what they can do for us!

Great points everyone!! First off, thank you to the following: Tony, Marques, Saweth, Jessica, Shannon, Sarah, Saweth, Alicia, Jake, Tim, Kevin and Angela for using the message forum...encourage everyone esle to keep doing the same.

Quick update, we certainly REALLY are trying to make this work for everyone. We are waiting for a few more responses regarding the two dates and will announce shortly. I certainly agree and have been pushing for a summer date. I need my sun.

BUT, here is the reality...as everyone on this forum thus far have reasons to push for the August date, there have been an overwhelmingly majority thus far for the October date...surely same reasons why they can't go in August such as...having a baby, on summer vacation w/ fam, out of country/state, in army, wedding...you'd be surprise that its not all because it was a Friday. To really make this work, we have to go with the majority vote. YES, we certainly can plan more PRE-REUNION gatherings and certainly in the Summer as well.

Thus far, we just had MORE people sending messages about picking the October date and not being flexible in August, 23 to be exact. In comparison to 11 people that picked the August date, BUT after inquiring on their flexibility..6 of them can be flexible for the October date. We then had 18 folks that were flexible but no preference. Again, this is a TOUGH decision for anyone or yet alone the committee to figure out, but we have to go with the majority...THUS far its looking from the votes in, we have 41 people that can go to the October 17th date and 5 that defenitely can not go. TIm and Jake, we'll wait for your responses as well.

The Committee has researched EXTENSIVELY on venues/halls that were cheap so that we can make this affordable for everyone, also the main reason why we are organizing it rather than hiring a third party. The location/hall we are looking at now was the best option out of 7-9 researched locations. Unfortunately, those were the dates availalbe to us.

Having an October date may be a blessing in disguise as well since it will give us MORE ample time to find our classmates...we still have 169 people we need to connect. Can you imagine how big our reunion will be if we get a hold of ALL those people!! More time to recruit and plan an amazing reunion.

I do hope this explains just a little bit...just know that WE will be putting numerous events through the summer and prior to the official reunion as your thoughts are great make perfect sense as well...I surely wanna hang with all of you in the summer!

We sincerely apologize for not making this work for everyone, the best we can do is go with majority for the OFFICIAL REUNION date but compromise and have other pre-reunion gatherings to connect everyone.

We are still waiting for a few more inquiries before we send out an official response. Don't hesitate to reach out to us to help answer any questions/concerns.
