It has become clear ā based on the message forum ā that there will not be a day that works for the entire MT C/O 1999.
Many of us have friends who can't make the Oct. date and vice versa. So it makes it very difficult to please so many people. The planning committee is doing a good job of trying to work this out :).
I'd like to throw out just a couple thoughts and ideas to try and assist the planning committee (it may result in a little extra planning but if we're going to do this right, we want to be as inclusive as possible.
An official date needs to be announced that declares when votes are no longer accepted. This will eliminate uncertainties of an August or October reunion, and we can either plan for it or simply not go.
While my vote went toward the August date for various reasons already explained by others, I can't disagree with the majority of votes. I just hope there isn't a loophole in the voting system that allows one person to vote more than once. Obviously, that would skew the votes and discredit the entire voting process...
If indeed the final date is in October, we can still have a two-day event, but the planners need to find a place that is relatively cheap and is available for a large group of people on a Sunday. It could be done potluck style so we don't have to pay for the catering... Ideas for entertainment (minus alcohol) would be the responsibility of the planners. We're not talking about an all-day event, just a few hours to officially sign off on the reunion for another 5-10 years.
Jesse, you've got network connections via hotels, can't you hook up a big room in one of your areas?
The idea proposed by Jessica for a two-day event shouldn't be a lost cause because of potential bad weather and an Oct. reunion date.
If Tony, aka Al catone, aka the Tonenator, doesn't come to the reunion party, I'm gonna be pretty disappointed. Hunting season happens every year bro, 10-year reunions happen once a decade. You can't slightly rearrange this year's buck'em schedule? If not, I understand.
