Saweth Liv

Well I guess I'll see everyone at the 20 year reunion.

04/10/09 12:49 AM #40

Anthony Miller

I'm with Saweth.

04/10/09 01:44 AM #41

Tofu Jon Asaeli

Haha, sorry guys . . . we're still gonna have something in the summer (potlatch/BBQ-type event) - it just won't be the official reunion. This will be an alcohol-free event (alcohol consumption will commence in the evening AFTER the soiree wraps up). Jessica and I have already started to work on that. 20 year? Ummm, don't we get a 15 yr one?

04/10/09 01:51 AM #42

Jesse Aspuria

Tim I agree with you for sure, FYI, if I have a Monday open, I'll try to make one of the shows.

Saweth and Tony, I'm with you too...meaning, I'll see you at the 20th as WELL. Don't worry, we will surely have tons of PRE-REUNION gatherings to go around and defenitely in the summer.

Here's a question...I know Amber, Shannon and Saweth are going to the same wedding on October 17th....how about you convince the bride and groom to have it at our location so the whole class can party with them.

Tony, I know that date is opening day for hunting season BUUTTTT there is a possibility that Sarah (who is hunting that day as well) will be able to get back in time, shower, drive like a maniac and make it around 9pm...are you hunting too far to get back on time?

Again, we apologize for any inconveniences...its REALLY tough to pick the PERFECT date with so many people but we will make this work for everyone.

Tony....where you hunting at?

haha, what happened to the good ol days of having the reunion in the school gym...shoot the NEW MT gym is like the Hilton compared to the Motel 6 version at the former....hahahaha...

I guess the only thing stopping the "gym" spot is we probably can't have alcohol....yikes, well, we can always do it how we did when we'd go to football and soccer games (a little spiked slurpee's anyone???...just joking)...

Oh well, either way, i'll try to make it, definitely though scheduling a venue is a beyotch

04/10/09 11:47 AM #44

Tofu Jon Asaeli

Yeah, Jake - we cannot do alcohol on school property, which I think is asanine since we're all CLEARLY of age. That would be tight to have it @ the new Mt. T . . . alas, if our old institution were still standing, we could've had it there. I mean, it's not like we never drank in that gym anyways during HS (pep assemblies, playoff games, school dances) . . .

But like Jesse said, we're pretty much going to have pre-reunion get-togethers every month until the actual event (we've had one a month since Feb., might start doing 2 to accomodate more ppl), and that includes a huge summer shindig (well, hopefully it's huge if we can find the rest of our classmates) . . .

04/10/09 01:01 PM #45

Anthony Miller

I'll be in North Eastern WA. Not exactly a short drive. I will not be attending. I'm going with a large group of people so me bailing on them is not exactly cool.

04/10/09 02:20 PM #46

Jessica Larson

Don't worry Tony! We'll put together a fun summer event, maybe on the alternate Aug date if we find a good spot for that weekend. I’m talking great food, fun little games, maybe even try and invite some of our old teachers if people are cool with that :). We'll keep you posted!

I just want to mention real quick again, even though Jesse just mentioned it, PLEASE, please, please, contact anyone you know that has not logged into this website. The more alums we can reach the better majority votes we will have for future planning. Call, text, email, and then call, text, email again. Thanks!

Marques Hunter

It has become clear — based on the message forum — that there will not be a day that works for the entire MT C/O 1999.

Many of us have friends who can't make the Oct. date and vice versa. So it makes it very difficult to please so many people. The planning committee is doing a good job of trying to work this out :).

I'd like to throw out just a couple thoughts and ideas to try and assist the planning committee (it may result in a little extra planning but if we're going to do this right, we want to be as inclusive as possible.

An official date needs to be announced that declares when votes are no longer accepted. This will eliminate uncertainties of an August or October reunion, and we can either plan for it or simply not go.

While my vote went toward the August date for various reasons already explained by others, I can't disagree with the majority of votes. I just hope there isn't a loophole in the voting system that allows one person to vote more than once. Obviously, that would skew the votes and discredit the entire voting process...

If indeed the final date is in October, we can still have a two-day event, but the planners need to find a place that is relatively cheap and is available for a large group of people on a Sunday. It could be done potluck style so we don't have to pay for the catering... Ideas for entertainment (minus alcohol) would be the responsibility of the planners. We're not talking about an all-day event, just a few hours to officially sign off on the reunion for another 5-10 years.

Jesse, you've got network connections via hotels, can't you hook up a big room in one of your areas?

The idea proposed by Jessica for a two-day event shouldn't be a lost cause because of potential bad weather and an Oct. reunion date.

If Tony, aka Al catone, aka the Tonenator, doesn't come to the reunion party, I'm gonna be pretty disappointed. Hunting season happens every year bro, 10-year reunions happen once a decade. You can't slightly rearrange this year's buck'em schedule? If not, I understand.

04/10/09 04:36 PM #48

Anthony Miller

Marques, you and I kick it anyway so it doesn't matter if I'm there or not. If it was just me going on the hunting trip in Oct it would be no problem, but it's not. Many people have had vacations at work scheduled since last Oct and I'm not going to ask them to change it. We all had lots of friends in HS. Some of those we stayed in contact with and some we didn't. It's unfortunate that we lost contact with some and it would be great to see them again after so long, but I'm not going to burn the friends I have made along the way to do so.

04/10/09 07:19 PM #49

Jesse Aspuria

Marques,

Thanks for the input and we certainly understand your frustration but as you mentioned, please keep in mind that planning this reunion is quite a feast. It is quite challenging to please everyone AND also finalize the details of the venue.

The committee is finalizing negotiatons at the moment and will be announcing soon.

Now, regarding your comments on voting, PLEASE know that the people have not voted twice, I'm sure you remember responding from a PERSONAL e-mail asking about your thoughts...these are the same data that came through...it took A LOT of time to consolidate these but they are accurate and not miscued. Again, I know there are a few people that will not be happy and as we've said NUMEROUS times, we will try to make it work by having PRE-REUNION Gatherings. But, in order for this to work, we need "just a little bit of good faith" and understanding from everyone.

You are correct as well that we will have ONE OFFICIAL Reunion or none at all to make this work. Too much time and effort to plan an official reunion and personal money has been invested.

FYI: I've listed the names of the people who have sent in PERSONAL votes with comments and thoughts:

I'd be happy to talk to you, Tony or whom ever over the phone and go over each comment and their version of what date works best. I only wish that all of them would use the message forum as well to provide another voice but that is the reality for now.

Tony, based on the information above, do you have any thoughts on how we can get a perfect date? We do hope you understand and will make this work for everyone.

Bottom line, we all have plans and busy lives, but reconnecting with the majority of our old high school friends will be priceless and we hope to at least accomodate the majority to make it work....

04/10/09 07:40 PM #50

Anthony Miller

As I've said before I understand if the majority of people voted for October... it will be in October. It should be based on a majority vote. However, I cannot not attend the event if it is in October. I was merely stating my case for August and why I thought it would be a better time. Just as it's unfair for me to ask the date to be changed to fit my schedule it is unfair for you to ask me to change my plans to fit yours. I have no idea what would be a good date for everyone, in fact I'm sure one does not exist.

04/10/09 07:42 PM #51

Anthony Miller

In addition there have been several people on here pleading a case for August, I haven't seen any for October. I don't appreciate being singled out as the one person who won't conform.

04/10/09 08:28 PM #52

Saweth Liv

I'm with Tony. I want a September date. The weather would still be nice.

04/10/09 08:53 PM #53

Jesse Aspuria

Tony, sorry and I apoligize, in now way were we trying to single you out. Bottom line, trying to accomodate everyone will be impossible. And as stated, yes, certainly several on this forum have plead there case, and as mentioned MORE have plead there case for October but through sending messages/responses to the committee. I'd be happy to go over ALL of those one by one.

And Saweth..your officially killing me (LOL).

04/10/09 08:58 PM #54

Jesse Aspuria

And for clarificaton again...I've been pushing for a summer personally as well.

But with the venue options, its just aligning. We'll have have get-togethers for sure...but the official reunion date will likely be in October.

Just waiting on specs/negotiations from the venue's end.

04/10/09 09:52 PM #55

Saweth Liv

Hope to see everyone at the swiss next friday!!!

04/13/09 02:19 AM #56

Tofu Jon Asaeli

Yeah, Saweth - you're officially killing me as well! Haha, j/p. September is out of the question. Would've been nice, though. Anyhoo, I won't be able to make it to The Swiss this Saturday (I know, thumbs down for me). Unfortunately, my homegirl re-scheduled her engagement party. And while I want to continue my perfect attendance streak of C/O '99 pre-reunion get-togethers, my friend only gets engaged once (it better be once, or else I'm gonna be HEATED)!

Buuuuuuut, I did find a venue for our 5/2 get-together! I'll post it after this Friday's soiree. Damn, I really, really, really wish I could be there . . . you guys have fun for me, and everybody else who can't attend =( . . .

Anthony Miller

Tim, you know how you mentioned that all of us sound the same... SO DO YOU BUT I DON'T COMPLAIN! HAHAHAHAHA. You totally set yourself up for that one. The sad thing about this post is that nobody else will get it. Hopefully I'll see you at one of the reunion prefunks. Stay up man.

04/15/09 03:23 PM #59

Timothy J. Cornelius II

oml! yeah i did kinda walk right into that one! its all good, as always i got no shame in my game, lol! ill be at the may 2nd pre-funk for sure, unless something big comes up. ill bring some of my bands CDs that we put out last year for some of you to listen to. and maybe ill set one of my monday nights that i book at hell's kitchen for a pre-funk and we all can go to hell's kitchen and have a few drinks and catch up! just a suggestion but i can make it happen if given enough notice that you all want to do it. i cant wait to see some old familiar faces though! theres only a few people i still keep in touch with from high school now, so im looking forward to boosting those numbers soon! hope to see a big number of t-birds on may 2nd! oh yeah where is the may 2nd pre-funk gonna be? have you guys figured that out yet? im out for now t-birds!

Angela Ehlers (Burgess)

I'm not sure if I am gonna be able to make the October date either, but I will for sure make one of the pre-reunion dates...eventhough to make one of them I will have to fly across the country to get there. I know how hard it is planning big events so I have much sympathy for the committee. I have two big events in the month of October at the motorcross track that my husband and I own. Jessica....could you send me a message when yall figure out when you will have the summer shindig so I can plan on that one. THANK YOU REUNION COMMITTEE FOR TAKING THE TIME AND PUTTING FORTH THE EFFORT SO WE CAN HAVE A 10 YEAR REUNION!!!!
