Jacque Van Nortwick Proffer

After graduation I attended BC, riding the bus every day with Donna and Becky. I attended for about a year and a half and then took some time off from school. I met Gary in Tehachapi, when I was a junior, we married in 1971 and moved to Vista, Ca. In 1973 we moved to Bakersfield with 1 year old Mary. Gary started working for the County as a Park Ranger. Like Connie, had a day care, and was a stay at home mom to many.

I started back to school and finally graduated in 1992. In 1991 I started a Human Services career with Kern County Department of Human Services (Welfare Department) I am currently an Assistant Program Director in Eligibility and Financial Services.

While at DHS I have worked with Grace Revilla and been in meetings with George Sanchez.( Don't know if he is still with the County? I plan to retire in the next few years and Gary and i hope to seve a mission for our Church.

I went from Kindergarten through 12th grade in Tehachapi. Some of my fondest memories were wearing green gum on my nose, because I got caught chewing in Mr. Capanas's class, and having to to stand in the corner in Mr. McElroys Study hall for getting caught with the eraser that someone else had stolen and was being passed around the room. Weird to have thought of that! I also remember the fun as a 6th grade camp counselor, playing the drums (I was terrible!) and all the great friends I had. It will fun to get together again!
