  Welcome

Our class website was down from about October 2015 until early February 2016.  When it was reactivated, our former root admin was replaced by Jerry Germonprez and Cheryl Brooks White.

We will do our best to keep you informed of class happenings, and ask that you help us out by notifying us of anything pertaining to our class that should be posted on this site.

Jerry will post messages about upcoming events, such as our 70th birthday celebration in September.  Cheryl will add obits to the memory page.  You can help by letting us know if you change your e-mail address so we can reach you.

Just thought I would mention a couple things here. First of all I wish all my THS friends happy wishes, and hope all is well with my classmates. This is a terrible time in our livves concerning the health threat, which I doubt any of us saw coming. I remeber sitting in class and reading, and hearing, about past apndemics, and thinking wow...we should not ever have to experience anything like...yet here we are. I hope all of our class, as well as others, get through this in good shape. Please stay vigilant and safe.

The second tthing was to announce that I won my election for Crete Township Democratic Committe-person for the 8th precinct.

Dear Donna,

Thank you for your wonderful and hert felt wishes, and love. I hope to see you at one of our future gatherings. Also, thank you for the congratulatory wishes. You are a very special friend indeed. I am trying politics as part of my bucket list, but I also feel there needs to be some changes in the governments attitudes towards minorities. The bucket seems to be getting bigger. You are a wonderful person, as is so many of our classmates. I wish you, and the rest of our classmates, happiness, health and love.

Jackie

to all my former classmates and trojan friends, I hope you are all doing weell in this time of such a terrible pandemic. I hope everyone can get back to normal soon. Some news; i won my elecction in March for Crete Township Committee-person for my precinct 8 .......I was also elected Secretary of the Crete Township Democrratic Committee. I hope we can have another reunion soon when it is safe enough, and get to see all of my former classmates.

Dear fellow Trojans, I hope this finds you all well, and able to avoid this disasterous virus. I am staying in a lot, and wearing mask and gloves when I go to the store, or to a meeting. Tuesday night, 12/1, I went to a Crete Township Democratic Caucus, where I was nominated to run in the Aprill 2021 election for Crete Township Trustee on the Democrtic ticket. To say the least, I am very proud, excited and honored to have been chosen. I never had any inkling of being a polltician in my earlier days unitl recently; however, I have been extremely interested in politics recently, and am tying to make some noise, and help, for the LGBT community, so I am getting involved.

Thanks for keeping in touch, Jackie.  Maybe we'll hear from some of our other classmates.  Hope everyone has stayed safe during these troubling times.

I am doing well in Alabama.  Moved last Feb 19th to Helena, Alabama from Gadsden.  Miss our house on Lookout Mountain's bluff.  However taking care of 2 1/2 acres on the side of a mountain was getting to be a bit difficult.  Sold the home to a nephew that lived in Atlanta and moved a few blocks from our daughter's family.  Being near the family has been wonderful at this time.

I hope all of the Trojan's will take the time to respond by January 1st.  It would be great to have updates on everyone that uses this site.  Merry Christmas!

We are getting very close to the wire in the April 6 local elections in Crete, Illinois. I am running for Crete Township Trustee on the Democratic ticket. There is no polling, but this is a typically Republican area. I have gotten some support, and am hoping Equality Illinois can give me some more, along with endorsements from some Democratic politicians I have had on my CAN TV shows. I still need support however, to offset those who are quite biased against the LGBT communiiiiity. Donations can be made, in any amount, to:  https://secure.actblue.com/page/jackiemckethen .....If elected, I will be he first transgender / LGBT person ever elected in the history of Crete, Illinois.

Well, unfortunately, I lost my election for Crete Township Trustee, but that does not mean I won't try again. This is a predominately Republican area and none of our slate of 6 won. Sadly the Township Board remains 100% Republican. I was hoping we could get more representation for women, minorities, immigrans and marganilized citizens. I would like to see a more equal representation, as well as checks and balances in the Board. I don't favor ONE PARTY Government.

Also, for anyone interested, My CAN TV show for the LGBTQIA community, or anyone wanting to learn more about our community, will return to the airways May 14th at 6:00pm (CST). It is on channel 21 in Chicago: however, outside of Chicago the show can be seen by going to:   cantv.org   at 6:00pm (CST) ( which will automatically take you to "You Tube" )....then look for the LGBT Show, and I will magically appear on your screen. I won't have guests right away, but when the Covid pandemic is over, then guests will start to being allowed. I hope some of you will tune with this important look into the LGBT community.

I have posted some information about my LGBT Scholarship Fund on the Facebook page for "Topeka High School Alumni" for donations to Governors State University College of Arts and Science in University Park Illinois. GSU, which is a very welcoming school for LGBTQIA students and has special classes for LGBT kids who are homless due to being kicked out of homes, etc, by parents, relatives, etc. GSU Has housing available, and even has couses for getting their GED certificate so they can move on to college courses. Donations are accepted on my Face book page, or you can go to:  www.govstedu/donate   Please make sure you indicate the donation ( regardless of anount ) should go to:  Jackie McKethen LGBTQIA Scholarship Fund    ( otherwise the Foundation will use for their Christmas Party ). You can call 708-235-7559. If you want a brochure/flyer, send me your email at: mckethinc@aol.com, and I will email you the information.

As a member of the Advisory Board of Governors State University Collegge of Arts and Science in University Park, Illinois, I weas recently elected to Chair a sub-committee on Member and Bylaes.

This is the college where I opened a sholarship fund for LGBTQIA students. If you are interested in helping LGBTQIA students get a formal college education, Please contact me. LGBTQIA youth, as well as adults are very much suseptible to considerable discrinimation, harrassment and violence. Currently 60% of the LGBTQIA  community youth account for "Suicide" and "Homelessness" due to experiencing parental, guaedianship or family discrimination, or being ejected form their home.

If interested in helping with helping these students, please contact me at:  mckethinc@aol.com. Very few have any chance at all of getrting a college education, and an acceptable future.
