I spent 38 yrs working on marine biological and environmental sciences. I worked for the Office of Naval Research, National Geographic Society, California Department of Fish and Game and Edison International. Research was conducted in So. California, Bahamas, and French Polynesia. Consulted on shark behavior with the movie Jaws.
Specialties were in studying fish behavior in-situ, population dynamics studies, analyzing thermodynamic and hydrometric influences on zooplankton and ichthyoplankton groups. Evaluating the environmental issues associated with Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems.
Most international travel was based on ecological exploration which was pretty rewarding. Diving was a common activity but camping was favored as well. Most travel being done now is domestic so we can take our dogs along.
We retired in 2005 and moved to New Mexico. We needed to get away from the water.
