Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

My son called Friday, the Navy has said that he does not see well enough so they will probably send him home Wed. Keep him in your prayers.

Lori Cameron (Prim)

I know I haven't been around much but where is everyone else been?? So here I go...

Hi there all. We've welcomed December with snow. We only recieved about 4 of the 8 inches we expected yesterday. We will be getting another 4 to 6 inches tomorrow. Unfortunately the snow was very wet and with the temperature drop, now we have a lot of ice. But it's still pretty!

Here's an update on my dad (for those of you wondering): He is still in the ICU. Still on the respirator (via the trach) and still paralized from the waist down. He has made some progress here and there with a few set backs but we are still hopeful. Thank you for your prayers.

I was also wondering....Do any of you take part in a cookie exchange? And if so, how do you do yours? What games or activities do you do? A friend and I have one every year (she has graciously volunteered to have it at her house this year) and are wanting to change it up a bit. We all bring cookies to share and a dozen to send home with each participant. We also have an ornament exchange (kind of a chinese gift exchange, stealing from others, taking turns, it's all about the wrapping, kind of game). We do a second exchange as well with fun holiday decorations and such that Barb and I provide for additional fun.

Does anyone have additional ideas?? I'd love to hear them.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for.

Donna--That's great news and not so great. Great that he's not going to be in harm's way, but difficult since he had his heart set on serving. God obviously has something else in mind for him.

Lori--Gosh! I can't believe you guys already got snow! I guess that's pretty typical for that far north though. My kids are jealous. Still praying for your dad and the whole family too. Hang in there.

I am posting a prayer request as well. The mom of one of Natalie's classmates passed away over Thanksgiving weekend. She had had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and was in a coma. I don't really know details other than she finally passed away Sunday morning. What is really bad is she had the heart attack while she was lying down with her son. She went into his room at about 10PM, and he came out at 10:30 to tell his dad that she wasn't breathing. Dad did CPR till the paramedics arrived, but there was no way of knowing how long she had been that way before her son realized what was going on.

I can't even begin to understand how incredibly difficult that has to be for the entire family. Surprisingly Grant has been at school everyday but yesterday. His mom's service was then. I asked Nat how he seemed to be doing, and she said he was acting different (of course). She said he hasn't broken down in class or anything, but he acts noticeably sad. My heart just absolutely aches for him and his family. Anyway, remember them in your prayers.

Changing the subject.......What has everyone been up to???? (besides just Lori and Joyce--we appreciate you guys keeping us updated!). The turkey coma doesn't last that long, guys! Now come on! I'm having withdrawals! Post away!

Lori: When I used to be in charge of the Christmas parties for Liam's class in elementary school, I would make Mad Libs out of Christmas Carols. I'd have the kids divide up into teams and fill them out. Then they'd have to sing the results. It was hilarious! I think it would be fun for adults too.

Stacy: I'll add Grant's family to my prayer list.

Speaking of which...Donna you never know how those prayers will be answered. God must have heard all of us asking for his safety and decided to send him home.

As for the Culpepper household. We really haven't been up to much lately. I'm just trying to figure out what to get everyone for Christmas. Liam's birthday is the week before Christmas as well. So I have a 13th birthday to plan. Pray that he'll make it to 18 years old!?!

Donna Cox (Garner)

Thank you all for your prayers. Cory will be home in the next 10 to 20 days. Note that is befor Christmas!!!!
I have made him a Dr. Appt for Jan. 5 so we can see what can be done for his eyes.

He knows that God has a plan and he is open to see what it is. Andrew is so funny, he is already asking how many more days till he gets here.

We have a great and wonderful God who takes care of us in every way. I can't tell Him thank you enough for all He has done in my life. He has given me great friends and family to help me through these few weeks. Thank you all for everything, the kind words and the many prayers. Bless you all. I will let you know when he is home.

Bennie Tunnell's wife had their baby boy yesterday.
I don't really know any details yet, but I do know
they had the baby in Claremore and had to life flight him to St. Francis for some reason. But I think all is well now.
When I find out more details I will let everyone know.

Hello Oklahoma Fans.....Looks like we're headed to Florida. Good thing, because my boss (John Marouk) had me buy him airline tickets last week, then start moving my surgeries, then make sure he's not on call. All of this in hope that OU was headed south. As of a few minutes ago, looks like Johnny boy will be needing that sun screen.

Lori - I cannot begin to understand the emotional roller coaster you've been on for that last several weeks. We continue to pray for your family and this situation. Your upbeat attitude is so refreshing! I just love that about you.

Stacy - It was good seeing you at Bueno last week. I am so stinkin sorry I called the girls by the wrong name. I felt so terrible about that. How are you holding up with Jim in and out so much? The offer still stands if you need help.

Like around here is hectic (but that's normal). Josh is wrestling for Sapulpa, so I spend alot of time running him around. Then it seems like every other day he comes home with a different complaint. I hope I'm not raising a hypocondriac (I probably spelled that wrong). There has been several cases of "staph" infections, those yucky bumps on the back of the neck (he had it before but the name just escaped me) and most recently an injured "taint" (it is a word - google it). He was supposed to drop some weight, but he told me that if I didn't cook so well then he could do it. So he asked me to not cook dinner for a week or so. I'm not sure I like parenting a wrestler.

I am going to cater a wedding rehersal dinner, so I've been practicing on perfecting my menu. I think I finally nailed the rice and fajitas! It has been alot of fun.

Oh, I saw Brett Byford and his family at the walmart in Glenpool last night. I didn't get to say hi (since we were across the store from each other) but I thought how strange it was that I hadn't seen him in 20 years and then saw him in a walmart. I'm glad so many of us stayed in the same area.

I finished my Christmas shopping today and that is such a relief. I have everything that goes in a box, in a box and I just need to wrap them and deliver them. Speaking of wrapping, my church is doing a fund raiser at the Promanade Mall. We are running the gift wrapping store located across from the Gap on the 2nd floor. If you hate to wrap, you can bring your stuff there and we will happily wrap it for a nominal fee. I will be there on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00.

The creators of this website put a feature on the site that tells you who's on line. I hope this doesn't deter the luckers.

Hope is well with everyone. I hope your Christmas Season is filled with love, joy, peace and NO STRESS.

I got this email from Vance Brown and thought it was very funny and very true! Thanks Vance!

Dear Gen Y:

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet . If we wanted to know something,we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually writes somebody a letter with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3s or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ' d usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer,a collections agent, you just didn't know!!!You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faste runtil you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?!We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a fringing fire. Imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thingand shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

I am stuck RIGHT SMACK DAB in the midst of "Gator Country"....I have $20.00 On the Sonners against my boss....Hope the boys do not let me down after almost getting my @ss kicked more than once trash talking for my Sooners...Missouri was a masacre...The gators are a bit "sleeker"...We'll see eh?
I have the Sooners on a 13 point spread....
Lori, hang in there kiddo!
Okay, back to "lurking".....

12/10/08 09:08 PM #1787

Kelli Reese (Hatten)

Joyce, love the email from Vance, and so true.

Tommy, I thought I had it bad being stuck in SEC country but I you have me beat. I'm not much of a trash talker, I'm afraid I'll jinx my team. Michael and I have a few good friends here in Tennessee who are from Oklahoma. As a matter of fact, we watched the OU/OSU game together. Sorry Joyce, but we really needed that game.

I would love it if the Sooners could pull this one out, I would have to wear an OU shirt for about a month!!

I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!!!

12/10/08 11:29 PM #1788

Pamela Coffey (Barnes)

Hey there everyone! If you can believe it....it is SNOWING in Houston!! The kids went wild this evening! It is still coming down, but no accumulation. The ground is too warm! I will post some pics! Seeing is believing!!

I am also so excited for the Sooners!! I hope we can smash the Gators. I am so tried of the media having a love fest with the SEC. I wore my OU shirt on Saturday while shopping and I noticed this man with a Longhorns hat on. He kept eyeing me and eventuallly he came over and said, "Sorry, but I will be cheering for Missouri tonight". I hope he cried all evening! Way to go Sooners!!!

Lori---Thanks for the updates on your dad. I will continue to pray for a complete recovery.

Cherri---Houston is not a bad place to live! If you do get transferred here, I would be happy to show you around. I always look forward to having more friends close by.

My family and I will be heading to Tulsa on the 21st. Is anyone up for a lunch or dinner gathering before Christmas?

12/11/08 04:51 AM #1789

Rayanne Griffin (Tobey)

Being surrounded at times by 20 somethings. Vance's email was too true. I've been swamped with work, I know everyone has been a bit absent around here as well. I miss everyone and the dose of true reality that our conversations bring.

Lori - we continue to be in prayer for a recovery for your had and wisdom for the doctors as they continue his care.

Donna - I haven't forgotten your shirt. Congrats on your son's return and we'll pray God's direction for his life becomes apparent.

Everyone - if you sent a check for the reunion and it hasn't cleared your account it is because I have a few to deposit. I will do that tomorrow as I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. Also, several have asked about the video. We are still accumulating pictures so if you have any to add just email them to me or to Kelly Dickey Culpepper (who has gratiously been a life-saver). We're cropping the old pictures we received and scanned and working to get it done. Life (work) has just gotten in the way. We are working on the directory as well and you guys should have those as soon as humanly possible. We want to make them both the best we can so it is just taking longer than anticipated.

Finally, I cannot say that OU or OSU football mean a great deal to me - perhaps that is because for the first 2 years of college SMU was under the death penalty and we had homecoming at the Soccer Game since we weren't allowed to play football. I guess no one realized it was a problem giving a player a BMW and a $250K condo to play football? Go figure. However it was fun to watch Joyce and Scott watch the game and Ainsley vehemently defending her Boomer Sooners.

Pam - lunch or dinner would be fabulous. Just someone tell me when / where to show up and I'll be there.

Miss you guys!

Rayanne

Joyce Nobles

Pam,

you can count me in on lunch or dinner if its early enough i dont miss work, or even if its on a night i dont work.

rayanne, i cannot believe you would post about me being so dissappointed in my OSU guys at your house. it was a good game, just not how i wanted it to end. oh well. always fun. and your daughter is a hoot.

12/11/08 01:27 PM #1791

Donna Cox (Garner)

I am up for dinner, just let me know when and where.
I am with you Joyce, OSU Rocks!!!!

Cory will be home next week just in time for Christmas!!!

On a sad note, my ex-husbands sister died yesterday (Wed). His family called me and I had to go and tell Bill. I was able to talk to Cory on the phone yesterday so he knows, but cannot get here any faster. I am going to her memorial with Bill in the next few days. This has happened at the worst time of year. You don't hear this very much I don't think, but say a prayer for my ex-husband. I feel so bad for him.

12/11/08 06:33 PM #1792

Kelli Reese (Hatten)

Donna - Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, we'll be praying for Bill & the whole family. It was good to hear that your son will be home in time for Christmas though.

Pam - I would LOVE it if OU could beat Florida, that's all I hear around here is how SEC has the best defense in the country, yada yada yada.

I hope everyone has had a good week!

12/11/08 09:23 PM #1793

Ron McClanahan

Well hello everybody I'm glad to see that everyone has been doing good despite some of us having personal tragedies in our life's. It's so great that we can be apart living our own life's but still rally around someone when their in need of support and prayers all of you are truly special people.

Stacy- That's a really cute story that you told about your daughter's birthday party. I could definitely see love being in the air since it seems as though it blooms so much earlier these days ("brother I don't even want to think about it.") Katie is eleven too she had her birthday in October. So how have you been getting along with Jim on the move? I'm sure you have everything in hand but I will echo Jacci in saying if you need anything please call me. I hope your family has a wonderful Christmas and get's to enjoy just being together as a family.

Pam- That's just crazy snow in Houston? Although it seems like were getting less and less snow each year which I hate because I love snow. You go girl! On the wearing of your OU Sooners apparel that's pretty brave in your neck of the woods. I would like to have a picture of that guy's face giving you the evil eye at the store (lol) Texas fans have not dealt very well with their BCS disappointment as of late. So wear your bullet proof vest under your OU shirt next time you wonder out. I probably won't be able to make it to the lunch/dinner when your in town unfortunately, I will be going under the knife once again for my shoulder on December 22nd! I know Merry Christmas to me.(lol) If you guy's do anything after the 23rd please be sure to post it. Have a safe trip to and from Houston when you come for the holidays.

Donna- I was sad for your son at the fact he will not be able to follow his aspiration's to join the Navy, but also happy for you so you won't be worried for his safety. The important thing will be that he doesn't put off getting into school unless he want's to join all of us working stiff's. So tell him to keep on with his dreams and don't be afraid to reach for them.

Joyce- I was soooooooo sad about OSU loosing NOT!!! Sorry, I'm one of those evil Sooners fans. The Cowboy's did have me wondering for a bit though. I want a BCS playoff system myself I think it would be great.

Rayanne- Thankyou for your continuing efforts to get our dvd and registry together and don't worry I'm sure everyone knows that life comes first. Just be sure to have it ready in the next six days or else! (lol)

Lori- I will deal with you later! Since the "Moonlight Club" doesn't start chatting until after 10p.m.

May all of you have a wonderful week and weekend ahead try not to get caught up in the mad rush of shopping during this season and remember what it truly is about being with the one's you love "Christ is the reason for the season."

12/11/08 11:53 PM #1794

Tommy Sheppard

Pam
You are indeed brave. But, a Firey red head wears what the heck she wants anytime and anywhere she wants eh?
Who could argue?
Seriously though, Ron, Dude!!! (Yeah I said dude)
These folks down here are CRAZY...It is NO friendly rivalry. I am scared to wear my OU hat lately...The Gators are all the buzz....And these boys are as red neck as any Okie let me tell ya....Rebel Flags and all...
You guys think Tulsa has trailor parks...You have not seen trailer parks until you come to tampa Fl.

12/12/08 11:27 AM #1795

Pamela Coffey (Barnes)

Hey everyone! I think lunch would work best for me. Would you all like to meet on Monday the 22nd or Saturday the 27th? Let me know which day works the best!

Ron--What a great idea about the bullet proof vest! I will remember that for next season. I was listening to sports radio and all the UT fans are surprisingly cheering for the Big 12 to win the National Championship, although they hate OU. How do you think the Heisman will pan out? Best of luck with your shoulder surgery. Not the best Christmas gift, huh? I will pray that it all goes smoothly!

Tommy--I feel sorry for you! Do you feel like you are being eaten by the Gators? Are you going to the game? You are right....no one should mess with a firey red headed Sooner fan! I love to wear the crimson amongst all the burnt orange!

Joyce--Love the pictures you posted of the reunion! You did a great job getting pics of everyone. Once again, your card was the first one I received in the mail!

12/12/08 11:31 AM #1796

Joyce Nobles

Pam-- glad you liked all the pictures, and im really glad you got the card first. i know i slacked a bit the past couple of years, so i was trying to make it up to you. :) lunch sounds good to me on either day pam, you just let me know.

Ron-- i will always be an OSU fan, but i will cheer for OU as long as they are not playing one another.

12/12/08 03:49 PM #1797

Stacy Koch (Narrin)

Hey all! Hope everyone is calm, cool, and collected during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We're doing okay at our hacienda. Jim will be home from Egypt in one more week. I spoke with him just a little while ago and he had gotten to go see the pyramids and Sphinx today. Too cool! He went inside one of them and said it was a little creepy. They had to walk down a very narrow passage that led down first, and then up to some chamber. He said he had to bend over while walking through it, and the air got noticeably heavier the farther down they went. Just slightly claustrophobic! I'm not sure I could have done it. He also rode a camel and said it was kind of awkward, especially when they ran. I'm just trying to picture in my mind what that had to look like! YEE HAW!!! He was officially mistaken for an Arab today too. Seriously!! He and another guy got in a tour van and the driver asked if he was Arabic. When he said no the guy said, "You really aren't?? You look Arabic." Someone made him try on one of their funny hat things at some point. He could totally play the part with his hair texture and coloring. I've been telling him that for years. Maybe King Tut was one of his ancestors.:) He's ready to get back to the good ole US of A though. He's pretty homesick.

Update on Nat's little classmate who lost his mom: He's doing well. He and his sister have been going home with some friends after school until his dad gets off work. They're really close and did things together all the time through the summer. I've been fixing him lunches to eat because Natalie informed me he was bringing a baggie of Cookie Crisp cereal for lunch and that was it. When I spoke with the lady who has been keeping him in the afternoon she said he was an ultrapicky eater, and his dad was pretty overwhelmed. That may be why he only brought that. So I've been fixing an extra lunch for him everyday and Natalie delivers it to him. I got a chance to talk to him today and asked him what he likes, so maybe that will help in some small way. That whole situation still just breaks my heart though. Life!

Pam--I may be in for lunch. Give us a holler with the official time and place when it's decided and I'll let you know.

Ron--Sorry to hear about your having to have surgery again. That's gotta be loads of fun. :( Hang in there!

Welp, that's all I know for now! Talk atcha later peeps!

12/12/08 04:17 PM #1798

Rayanne Griffin (Tobey)

Wow, why is it that when the days are the busiest all chaos breaks loose in everyone's life. Is there a theory on that?

I hope everyone is getting to enjoy the holidays and gets to make it "home" for Christmas, wherever and whatever that might be for you.

Ron - I'll get right on that 6 day request. It actually is more reasonable than some I've gotten the last few days. Hope the surgery goes well. If we can help you in anyway during or after let us know. As you guys know I'll volunteer Scott for about anything. And he loves me so much he doesn't mind!

We are getting our tree tonight and that will make it seem more like Christmas. Ainsley already has a bright pink 4 foot one (gag, gag, gag) that Grandma thought she needed. It is hideous but she LOVES it. She was telling it how beautiful she thought it was last night. What can I say she loves pink. Now if Santa brings her a microphone her Christmas will be complete. It is nice she's only 3.

Joyce - you should have heard the yuck noises coming from Ainsley at the framed OSU jersey she saw. She said "we dont like the Orange guys, Ms. Joyce likes the Orange BLEH"

12/12/08 08:56 PM #1799

Jennifer Wakefield (Moreno)

Rayanne -

My first two years at OU we were on probation. No TV, no bowl game no matter what. It was depressing. They called the Bedlam game "The Probation Bowl."

12/12/08 09:38 PM #1800

Ron McClanahan

Stacy- That is just a hoot about Jim being mistaken for a Arab.(lol) I could see the look on his face like "who are you talking to me?" Well at least you know he could play one of the wise men in a church play an pull it off. I'm so envious of him though getting to go to Egypt I have always wanted to visit the "Valley of the Kings",and the pyramids. I missed my chance when the whole Persian Gulf conflict erupted my ship was do to stop there rats! Guess I will just have to be content with HD National Geographic. To Jim I said "hello". Take care Stacy and don't let those kids drive you crazy.

Joyce- That's a good way to be we should all support our states college teams. I do root for OSU when their playing any one other than OU. Have a great weekend!

Rayanne- Don't fret about Ainsley's pink obsession Katie was the same way and she grew out of it. Once she got older it was like "daddy I can't believe you bought that! It's pink what do you think I am a baby?" Although she still had me paint some stripes around her room horizontally in hot pink and black. lol

12/13/08 02:50 AM #1801

You guys are no fun I was hoping for some reading material since I couldnt sleep. Well I guess better luck next time I'm going back to bed.
