Did anyone watch Boston Legal? That was another good show that bit the dust this year.

Steve- I watched LG forever, I'm talking back when I was a child. I tried not to get back into GL, but I kind of kept up with Reba and Allan and who knows who. I hate to see it go.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Judy- You know Reba had another child today. Her 15th I think. I'm going to get another drink. Does anyone else need one? Carla?

Does anyone remember when someone stole Mrs. Tyler's garage remote control out of her car? She was ripped!!! I recall her saying something to the effect that it wasn't a transistor radio. So return it!

Steve- Did you ever see County General Hospital when you were in Chicago?

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Judy- No I did not. Was it a soap?

STEVE P.- ARE YOU JUDY'S BROTHER OR COUSIN I WAS JUST WONDERING.

04/03/09 10:02 AM #227

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Lavanna- I am Judy's cousin. Her Dad and my Dad were brothers. They both worked for the phone company, as did both Judy's mother and my mother. We kinda had a monopoly on the phone company in those days. At least in Vinita.

Okay, I'm not really a true VHS 69er but I spent my longest period of childhood in Vinita. I moved there when I was in the third grade. I was scared to death that I would be the only one that couldn't write in cursive. I got lucky, no one had learned because of some reason I never found out about. I lived next door to the Faulkners (the principal). My first big thing I remember was Rhea ratting me out to the third grade that she saw me riding a stick horse while playing with Joe and Barbara Faulkner. I was humiliated. Vinita what a great piece of Americanna. I moved away after my sophmore year to Edmond Oklahoma, My first love was Pauline Cass, Joni Driskill and every other girl that looked at me sideways. Oh the memories of me escorting Lynnda Teague at the Carnival party. The great humiliation of her winning the damn thing and me not having the guts to Kiss her when I put the crown on. Ah yes, humiliated once again.

I went to third and fourth grades at Will Rogers. First recollection was of Eddie Vieth proclaiming that the had just finished reading the entire encyclopedia Brittanica. Fifth and sixth grades at Hall Hasell. So I got to know the West side kids well. Hey Carla, remember me and Mike Oyler coming by after the Friday night slumber parties to talk with the girls? Carla do you remember Ann Lynch?

Junior High brought us all back together under one roof. Yes, I remember the fourth floor and the observatory above that. Several of us spent many hours searching that old building. I hated to see it torn down. Jan and Mary Ann, do you remember the stunt that Joni played on several of us guys. She posed as Lillian Rodriquez over the phone and asked us to sit with her at the movies. I never did figure out the ruse till Joni told me some time later that she did the prank.

Hey Bruce, do you remember the wreck we had going to earn money for Explorers. Bruce came to pick me up and ran a stop sign and a car T-boned us at about 40 mph. Bruce was driving his mom's cherry Olds or Buick. Yes, I have to agree with Steve, we only let Bruce hang out with us so we could see his sisters.

Hey John, remember me setting behind you in Algebra and messing with you about smoking? John got even with me though, when Johnny Medaris kicked the crap out of me at lunch. Thanks again John. Medaris was mad at me because George McCreary made me the wood shop foreman and he made me tell Johnny what to do. That didn't set to well with Johnny, him being a freshman and me a seventh grader.

I left Vinita after my sophmore year. I worked at the Glass house with Sally Pope, Sheila Rohmiller West, Pam Pitcher, Barbara Cole, Paul Wever, and Chuck Hoskins. Bill and Chuck worked at the Station out there. Bill's dad ran it back then. I went crazy dating everyone I could that summer because Joni had broken up with me before she went to camp. I was on the Explorer trip with Bruce. You all know that Sahgie Frasier didn't come back with us. I left without really getting to say goodbye to anyone. It really left a hole in my life leaving that way.

I moved back to Vinita in 1975 hoping to rekindle some good childhood memories. Sadly most everyone had moved on. Jay and I rekindled some old times. Jay grew to be one of my few true lifetime friends. I really miss him. However, I just have to picture his face to make me smile. Those of you that knew him well, know how great a guy he was.

Enough sadness! I have attended some of your reunions and all of the Edmond reunions. Edmond's I really like because they are one year ahead and one year behind. After all we had friends both older and younger.

I really enjoyed reading your writings and hearing about your lives. Sometimes I felt it hadn't been so great, but after I read this it truly cheered me up.

Steve - You just wait, as this little girl grows up, you will be involved in tea parties, dance recitals, Barbie and many other foreign experiences and love every min. When I adopted my son - it was a whole new world. He didn't care about co-ordinated school supplies and didn't demand much attention. If he had food and a sport to play, life was good. Don't worry about the teenage years - you'll be 75 and won't know come here from sic'em anyway! In reality, you may feel more protective than you ever imagined. That's a good thing for little girls to have.

I was excited to find that I have hardwood floors upstairs, under the carpet. I'm going to have those refinished and I'm close to being done, just not sure about the next step (after selling). I've lived in this house 20 years. You ask about my "workers" (but no Eldon) - boy have I learned a lot. That's where I miss having a man around - I have had people leave half way though and I never know for sure if I really "need" some things done etc. Most work about 4 hrs a day, inconsistently but are pleasant. The 1st guy, really was nice and really just out of prison! I didn't know that for awhile. God protects children and old women!

Judy - I like my story better, but you're probably right. The guy always did come from the North, I'm glad Lavanna asked about your family, because I was always confused too. I knew you and Steve were cousins. I was ALWAYS aware that your mom might be able to hear phone conversations, so I watched what I said. I had no reason to think that, I just did.

Gene- It was good to hear from you! I remember a party at your house - probably when we were in the 8th grade. As long as we had a stack of 45's and were allowed to somewhat dim the lights, it was fun. Was Bruce the one driving a car without a license when he had a wreck? Was that the same wreck you were talking about? I bet your dad was impressed.

Gene - Glad you took the time to get on here and share some memories. It was good to see you in Vinita a few weeks ago, just wish the circumstances had been happier.

Steve - County General Hospital was the hospital in Chicago that ER (TV show) was supposed to be in.

Steve - Wasn't the guy that used to help Jim Shelton's dad named Ed? He used to tease Jody all the time.

Gene - I remember Ann Lynch. I thought she was very pretty. She had an older sister. She went to Ironside for a year or so, they lived in one of the Emerson houses out on 66. (across the highway from our farm) I think Ann was a little too fast for Ironside, or maybe we were a lot too slow! For some crazy reason, I remember her birthday is March 9th.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Gene- Ann Lynch went to Ironside. She was the most beautiful girl in the world next to Rhea, Gwen and of course my wife Susan. It is so good to hear from you and like Judy it was good seeing you a couple of weeks ago. I remember Sahgie and the Explorer trip. Russell and I were going to go on that trip but something came up and we didn't get to go. Do you remember the car wash the Explorers had and Jim Lawson had some old lady's Lincoln. We drove it all over town and changed all of the radio station presets.
Mary Ann- I have been waiting since the day after my first son was born for a little princess. I can't wait for tea parties, barbie dolls, and all the other pink stuff. Did you see how 'cute' she was?
Judy- I did not realize that County General Hospital in Chicago was the home of ER. I drove by it on many occasions while working in Chicago.

Rhea Joyce Freeman (Weaver)

Hey Gene! Glad you joined us. I don't remember ratting on you in the 3rd grade but I'm sorry. It was probably because I liked you! Kids can be so cruel! Lillian Rodriquez is a name from the past! I kept in touch with Lillian for years and lost contact about 15 years ago. It was her garage that most of the slumber parties were held in Jr. High.
I'm so impressed with some of you with your memory for names. Judy, you are amazing.
Steve, your granddaughter is so cute. There is something about Grandpas and their girls...

Ann Lynch was beautiful, even as a little girl. Where did she go? When did she go? Judy, I saw Mark Elam on Classmates. He lived in Vinita during elementary school and remembers it fondly. If it's ok, I'll let him know about this site. And yes Steve, she is cute xs 1000!!

HEY JOHNNY,
DID I SCARE YOU OFF THE SITE WITH THE MENTION OF POSTING A PICTURE???? WHERE DID YOU GO? COME BACK SO I CAN PICK ON YOU SOME MORE. TEE HEEE!

OK, the crash was just how Kidd said. The T-bone came on his side. It had been my Grandparents '55 Buick and it was Cherry. It actually had little attachment for a swinging flower vase. I had a learners permit and Gene was my licensed driver. We were running errands connected with our Explorer trip. Remember Kidd's old Ford Coupe; sweet?
Now that the Phone Company and the Ironside connection has been substantiated I just want to know what was going on out there beyond the Drive Inn. I used to go through Ironside on my way out to Whiteoak and Big Cabin but would only stop to buy beer or eat at the Truck Stop. Ok, there is nothing intriguing about going through Ironside, but there may be a connection with Steve watching Soaps. Were there any bodies found out in Ironside? I think the guy found next to Riverside, another 1 thru 4 elementary school, was Doodie Balls brother; the legend goes on. I am headed out on the Town with the wife, so see ya later.

Bruce- Take care on your trip. Try to get on the driving range while you are gone. Didn't Gene buy that car from Jerry Gullett. That was a neat car. Russell and I had to drive Dad's GMC pickup. It had all the available options (a cigarette lighter). I would make my 4 year old sister (Carol Ann) drive it while I hauled hay in the summer. One of these days I'm going to have a '67 GTO. Remember the one that Lonnie Edwards had. Red with white interior.

To All- Please be aware of what you put on this public forum, while thinking it is all in fun, it can be hurtful to some. I would like to publicly apologize to Lavanna. I think that it is great that we can get together and talk about old times. However I would caution everyone to think before you type. Steve
