Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

AGAIN I WILL ASK DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET OUR 1969 YEAR BOOK? DOES ANYONE KNOW THE COMPANY OR ANYWAY OF HOW TO ORDER ONE? I SURE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE. ESPECIALLY NOW. I REMEMBER HOW MANY CLASSMATES WROTE IN IT, AND THEN IT WAS DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE THROWN AWAY. I SURE WISH I COULD GET ONE AGAIN.
DIDN'T WE HAVE COACH KINDER IN JR. HIGH? I REMEMBER HE WAS SO NICE TO ME. IN P.E. ONE TIME WE WERE PLAYING BASKETBALL AND I WASN'T DOING SO GOOD, SO DURING A BREAK IN THE GAME HE ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO PLAY ONE ON ONE WITH HIM. I WAS SO HAPPY! I WAS ON CLOUD NINE HAVING EVERYONE WATCH ME PLAY COACH KINDER. I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT.
I ALSO REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE IN LINE TO PLAY BASKETBALL JULIA OLIVER PUSHED ME DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MY BIG SIS CAME TO MY RESCUE AND STARTED FIGHTING HER. SHE NEVER DID THAT AGAIN.

Judy- I think it was Fred Bruce. Reed was the high school basketball coach one or two years. He, Greg Pitcher, Larry Paul Williams and I went to NSU one summer. He then went to the Vo-Tech school in Afton.

Carla- I was rooting for Kenny Perry (the old man) in the Masters. Coach Johnson married a girl in my little sister's class. My little sister is 12 years younger than us. Did you see Phyllis trash Sharon's room?

Hi,everyone I'm back. I've been trying to catch up on all the great stuff that's been written. Wow, were you all busy!

We had a coach/teacher named Glen? He flirted shamlessly with the girls. He was married and they had a couple of kids, they divorced and I think she married Dick Lowry after his wife died or divorced. Ringing any bells?

Coach Johnson (father of 6) left his wife for a young Giles girl, but they have been married several years now so I guess it was meant to be.

Mary Ann- I remember Miss Waldrop and the bead incident, it was funny. Who was the 6th grade teacher I want to say her last name started with a K, she lived next to the snack shack. She was fun and I always thought a great teacher. Mrs. Sharp was the only teacher to threaten me with a spanking: thanks to Larry Bill.

Judy thanks for telling everyone about my prison years, I thought my serving in MT no one would ever know. Stoolie!

Rhea- you told me about your show horses. We also raised horses but ours are found in the back pens at a rodeo. Dick has raised many broncs and we've had some at the NFR. We aren't doing that now, but he and our boys raise bucking bulls who have been to the NFR and PBR. We're trying to get out of that too, and go back to straight black cattle. Wish the market would co-operate.

My mind is working while I'm writing...was that teacher Glen B. I know his last name started with a B, help Judy. Bauman? I was thinking he owned the shout and sack before Chris. Judy you could ask Chris who he bought it from.

I have lots more to write and comment on so, keep on a writing YA ALL! People think I talk so funny, damn northerners. Just cuz they ain't never been tarred or started a far. later

Steve- I think it was Fred Bruce. He taught Driver's Ed following Coach Eddy. I think he owned the convenience store too.

I wanted Perry to win the Master's too! To play so hard and then blow it. It will always be an "if only" game for him.

Jan- Was that Larry Baumert? He was married to Marge, who is now married to Merle Dixon.

Carla- Coach Johnson and Debbie Giles (b.1962, his student and basketball player) married after she graduated, and moved to Texas. They both taught and coached down there, before moving back to OK and teaching and coaching up here. They built a nice house west and north of Vinita about 10 years ago next to Debbie's sister, Donna and Rick Hensley.
I remember in the 9th grade when Coach's son David was born. He was on cloud nine. I believe his first wife Judy, had also been one of his students, when they married.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Judy- Yes, Coach Johnson's first wife, Judy was a student of his. He married the Giles girl and they lived in Mannford for awhile. She was the cross country coach and he was a volunteer helper. I would see them at meets when Cody was at Bishop Kelley running cross country. We would visit about Vinita. He lost his twin brother about 2 years ago. He lived and coached at Sand Springs.

Jan- GREAT to have you back. Isn't that penicillin the best stuff for what ails ya??? I hope that you have learned your lesson about accepting e-mails from me and sitting on public toilets unprotected.

Carla- You do know that Nick is from Sapulpa.

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

I knew Judy would know who I was talking about, I swear to Pete she doesn't or hasn't forgotten a darn thing.
What ever happened to Glen? He was different to say the least.

Yes Steve, thankfully that nasty little bug is no more. I might also add that your grandbaby is beautiful. Shall we wish that her first boyfriend treats her just like her granddad treated his first girlfriend? What ya think grandpa? Rhea was that you?

Fred Bruce was pretty cool as I remember. Eddy and Blevins were also cool, ahead of their times in some respects. Mr. Parker had a very gross habit and I know he was the topic of many discussions. I'm looking thru the annual, Mr. Eubanks a little different, but he let me bring my dog to school and I liked that, I had a neat dog.

Wish I'd kept a diary, but probably thought my mom might find it and I'd be grounded for life. I should have just told Judy what I was doing and to remember it for me. The government could use her powers. Later

04/14/09 11:55 PM #352

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Jan- What was Mr. Parker's bad habit? Or should I not ask on a public forum.
I treated Rhea very well until she dumped me. I bought her a bottle of 'Tigris' and a cheerleading charm for her charm bracelet. Weren't you my first girlfriend? I asked someone to ask you if you would like me if I liked you, or something like that.

I guess Johnnie has either died in the barber's chair, or the so called friend that he is planning the birthday party for is Obama.

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Fred Bruce was the one I was thinking of! I always knew Vinita was a little "Peyton Place"! I am beginning to think we were worse than Peyton Place!! I guess it is because people ran out of things to do!

Steve-Yes, I saw her trash the room! It really made me mad! I fell asleep watching it last night and only saw a few minutes!!! I hope I did not miss anything good! I am hoping they took Phyliss out in a straight jacket to a mental hospital! I so do not like her! She is evil and mean!

Jan-Glad you have returned! We missed you! Steve was going to send a search party! Do you remember when I spent the night at your house and you cooked steak and baked potatoes? You introduced me to cottage cheese on baked potatoes! I still love to eat them that way! I bet you love living on a ranch! I so would love to live on one! I watch the Bull Riding on TV all the time! So different than when my dad did it! They have so much protective gear!!!

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Mary Ann- Do you know what the twins are? I hope your daughter lives close! We find out tomorrow what Nicky's baby is going to be. She really wants a girl...she is very foo-foo and her son is an all rough and tumbly boy! Bill and his daddy, Brad, already have him doing golf, football and basketball!

Steve-I did not know Nick was from Sapulpa...no wonder I like him so much!

Lavanna-Write to the Vinita High School Yearbook staff. They usually have some copies of old year books. I know our Elementary has back copies of every year since we opened!

Carla I do remember that time. I have the whole family eating baked potatoes that way.

Poor Steve, dumped by Rhea,I think we changed boyfriends/girlfriends like we change underwear now, (not sure we were that diligent back then).

All I'll say about JP's habit is "he must have scratched his brain a time or two".

Who was the teacher who had been a milk delivery man before becoming a teacher. He was so fond of Shirley. I really didn't like him and he didn't like me. But like I said, he was fond of Shirley. But it does it still bother me, no, well maybe a little. The worm.

Do any of you remember the play? I don't remember what year it was how old I was but I was in it, were any of you? We had to be in high school. I wore a blonde wig and when I came on stage no one recognized me. My two annuals,"66" and "69" have no mention of the play.

Remember the chili feed (Will Rogers) then there was the Holloween carnival. The spook house and the dunk tank, the football toss thru the tire. Were any of you dunked? I think I was.

Bruce, I had forgotten about your little sister. After Judy described her I remembered what a cute kid she was. I loved your older sisters they were always so nice to me when I was hanging around.

Steve, it made me very sad to hear of your parents passing. Your dad at so young of age, and your mom not so long ago, they were just the best people.

All of us were very lucky to have the parents we have/had, and for the most part they were/are really good people. Not like a lot of families today. Strict isn't really a bad idea. I subbed in resource today, that's why I'm in this strange mood. Thank you God, I was afraid of my parents. Respect+fear=better children. OH yeah, with a whole lot of love thrown in. Later my friends.

Jan- Glen who??? I was in a couple of plays in Sr. High. I have no idea what they were or what my part was. Was Mr. Wichert(sp) the director of those plays? He was in charge of the pregame fireworks display of our football games that I never got to see. I heard that they were really 'neat'. Does anyone know about Jan Nix? Is she still in Vinita? Her brother ran the Quick Trip for a while.
Carla- I think that Phyllis and Sharon's next stop is ESH.

04/15/09 11:12 PM #360

Judith Ann Postier

Steve- Our Jr. Class play was "Our Miss Brooks." And Wichert was the director. We didn't have a Sr. Class play.

Jan- The milk man school teacher was Harold Maynard. He taught Psychology.

Duh! I meant Larry Baumert, why I want to call him Glen is beyond me. Must have something to do with OLD AGE! Do you remember him? Wasn't he a coach? I don't know what he taught or did, but he made a lasting impression. Anybody else have a lasting impression?

I think the hill was Judy's cover for the spy work she was really involved in. Haven't you noticed: she knows about us ALL! I was at her house a couple of years ago, and she wouldn't let me in one room, I think that's where she keeps the "files". Ya know Lavanna, I believe there's a file on you concerning the breaking and entering caper you pulled. It's with all the other files, locked in THE ROOM.

Judith Ann Postier

Larry Baumert was the Auto Mechanics teacher.

04/16/09 08:40 AM #364

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

I remember Mr. McCreary was the shop teacher for several years. He was in tight with all the coachs and thus knew everything that was going on. He raised 'show animals' for a while after retiring. There was a nice article about him in the Tulsa World a few months ago.
Judy- Could you send me a copy of Lavanna's file on breaking and entering. Thanks

04/16/09 08:47 AM #365

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Who was the auto mechanic teacher prior to Baumert that had the daughter, Rhonda, that was in our class and a son that was one year ahead of us. The son married his girlfriend in high school and lived in a trailer house by Hall Halsell elementary school.

04/16/09 09:41 AM #366

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Steve-That was Mr. Bird. Rhonda and Charles were his kids. Charles married Cynthia Bird. They had three kids and divorced. She remarried a Boatright...not Eddie! I guess that Nick just drives women crazy!!

Lavanna- So you were involved in breaking and entering???? I never would have believed it! Did you do time?

All-I remember the play! That was where I met Lawson Essex. Tooter and all her group came to see Veva Beard. I never tried out for any of the plays...I could not stand to be around Mr. Wichert (SP) he gave me the creeps! He had those beady little eyes! I felt like he could see through my clothes!
I worked for Mr. Parker in the office...he picked his nose and I mean he dug it out!!! I could not stand to touch anything he handed me!! Too bad we did not have hand sanitizer back then!! I think he passed away a few years back! Remember he ran the swimming pool in the summer!!

04/16/09 10:10 AM #367

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Carla- Who was Lawson Essex??? Sounds like the name of a soap opera character.

He was the guy I dated from Miami. He came with me to the Junior Prom. I loved his name!
