The VHS Class of 1969 extends their deepest sympathy to Tim Vogel and the extended Vogel family in the loss of Tim's father, Mr. Edwin (Ed) L. Vogel on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Well, well, well! I been browsing some the profiles and makes for interesting reading. Some of you brave souls posted recent pictures...I just have one thing to say. "You all are "OLD"! ROFL

You read names and your memory brings up the last time we saw each other. (shakes his head) Then you see pictures of today...EWWWW! LOL

Yes I will post my mine up there with the rest of ya. I wanted to upload my senior pic and one recent at the same time. So just be patient (smile)

Anyways, just wanted to throw my hat in the ring. Jan and I are talking about coming back for the reunion depending the date.

Hope to see ya all soon!

John

PS And if she can find some nice dress pants...I dont see anything wrong with the sweats that I am wearing :)

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

OK Johnnie! Just because my hair is white, I have put on a few pounds and I have some wrinkles...I think I look younger than 58. I really don't feel a day over 20!!! But to be on the safe side I will pin a senior picture to myself so you will know who I am!! Seriously...I don't care what any of us look like I just want to see my friends and catch up on what you have been doing.

Steve...Bill says he will take you up on that discount!! He wants a cut if he can sell some to the other golf coaches he knows! He is certain it will become a best seller!

Hi Carla,

LOL...you gotta laugh about life sometimes...otherwise it gets wayyyy too serious.

Talk about puttin on pounds, I was on steriods most of last year to stop "cluster headaches" I was having at the time. Now I will be the first to admit I had nice poochie kind of tummy...genetic thing I inherited from my father. Yeah well...ROFL...its gone from "poochie" to "PLUMP" LOL Seriously, I put on like 30 pounds last year and I have got to get rid of it. Jan and I were talking...my loving wife starts the conversation, "Dear, er-ah we will have to go shopping to "TRY" to find you some nice dress pants." Yeah! God love her!

Good to hear from ya Carla!

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Hey Carla and Johnnie lets face it, we all have changed. One day I was looking in the mirror and didn't have my glasses on, well I said to myself, "Gee Jan you don't look so bad," then I made the mistake of putting the damn glasses on and "OH MY GOD" who the hell was that looking back at me.. I went out into the living room and asked Dick "DO I LOOK LIKE THIS" and you could see the look of panic on his face, you know like, "Do these pants make me look fat," he was trapped. And lord love him he is an honest man so he replied YES! You look like that. Luckily for me he didn't comment on my pants (or was it lucky for him) I'm like you Carla I am anxious to see everyone....wrinkles, pot bellies and hairless or hairmore, colored or not. We had a fun class and we were fun loving kids, lets hope that's the one thing that hasn't changed in any of us...Jan

Ditto Jan,

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to feel self conscious about how they look or don't look. To my daughter's friends I am fuzzy gray-haired, misunderstood old man. Much to my daughters frustration, her friends love me...so she can't go and complain about her parents. LMAO

I have a friend that is one year younger and he refuses to accept his age at all. I told him it don't make squat if you accept it or not...LOL...you still OLD!!!!!

Good to hear from ya..

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

HEY JOHNNIE,
THIS IS LAVANNA (HAWKINS) MORGAN, THE UGLY SKINNY GIRL IN GRADE SCHOOL. WELL TALK ABOUT CHANGES I PUT ON 50 LBS IN THE PAST 8 YEARS. DO YOU REMEMBER THE TIME WHEN YOU WENT TO RIVERSIDE GRADE SCHOOL AND YOU DID SOMETHING AND GOT A WHIPPING FROM OUR TEACHER? I CAN'T RMEMBER WHAT GRADE WE WERE IN BUT I DO REMEMBER ALL THE KIDS WERE SENT OUT TO RECESS AND WE HEARD YOU SCREAMING. I FELT SO SORRY FOR YOU I HAD SUCH A CRUSH ON YOU BACK THEN AS A LITTLE GIRL. JUST THOUGH EVERYONE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! LOL WE ALL HAVE OUR MEMORIES DON'T WE. TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS

03/14/09 08:27 AM #26

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

Hey Lavanna.

tsk tsk ...now you tell me...LOL.

Gradeschool??...Girl, I can't remember yesterday's dinner and your talking about gradeschool...LOL. There is just one small detail...I never went to Riverside. LOL

After the 4th grade at Sacred Heart..we moved south of town on Big Cabin Road. I road the bus to school everyday and went to Southeast. Not that I didn't ever get the board of education applied to the seat of my learning on a semi regular basis. LOL

Trying to remember the principal there...God she could swing a mean paddle. LOL Hmmm...lets see here... there was Lois Best 5th grade teacher, Saunders 6th grade teacher...(shakes his head) I can remember her face but I can't remember her name. Shame, shame on me. Someone help me out here. Who was the principal for Southeast?

Great to hear from ya Lavanna!

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

SORRY JOHNNIE,
I HAD YOU MIXED UP WITH ANOTHER BOY, THE THOUGHT CAME TO ME AFTER I WROTE THAT. IT WAS RICKY WILLIAMS THAT GOT THE WHIPPING. I'M SORRY, I HAD A CRUSH ON HIM. I REMEMBER MRS. SAUNDERS, SHE WAS SUCH A SWEET TEACHER. I REMEMBER WHEN THEY CAME AND DID THE TB TESTS AT SCHOOL, SHE WAS NEVER THE SAME AGAIN BECAUSE SHE FOUND OUT THAT SHE HAD TB. I REMEMBER GETTING HIT SMACK IN THE NOSE WITH A BASEBALL THAT SOMEBODY HIT WHEN I WAS PITCHING, AND MRS. SAUNDERS BROUGHT ME IN AND I LAID MY HEAD DOWN ON MY DESK AND MY NOSE BLEED SOMETHING AWFUL. MY EYES TURNED BLACK AND I DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL. WELL I ENDED UP WITH A DEVIATED SEPTUM FROM THAT. MUST BE WHY I SNORE TODAY! GOOD HEARING FROM YOU TOO.

Fellow Classmates,

I have a confession to make. I have not been entirely honest...about my hobbies. You see, I have an addiction. About 2 years ago, my loving spouse decided that I was depressed and needed something to cheer me up. So she suggested that I get a "video" game which I have enjoyed playing down thru the years. I am Dungeons and Dragons nut (D&D) and have enjoyed such timeless classics as Kings Quest 1-7 from Sierra Games.

My quest started. I searched the stores and came across an MMO (many multiplayer online) and decided to try it. I always played single player games and just never understood how anyone could play one of those. *smile*

(drops his head in contriteness)Yes my friends, I am hopelessly, uncontrollably, forever hooked on...(climatic pause)...(giggle)...wow. No not the exclamation...WOW...WORLD OF WARCRAFT...as in Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft.

Sad sad state of affairs. Two years I have in this game. I play everyday. I collect the TCG (trading card game)cards. I collect the figurines and yes my fellow classmates...I even have "Frostmourne" the sword from "Wrath of the Lich King" hanging on my wall. I have two accounts, 3 level 80 Paladins and I LOVE IT! I have two guilds, one alliance and one horde on the Hydraxis server. ROFL

I know, I know...I deserve all your chastising... just heap it on. Tell me how childish I am, how I need to get out into the "real" world, how I am wasting my life...teeeeheee (evil snicker) But God, I love it so.

Lol

John

Hi Lavanna,

LOL Oh the mind does play tricks..doesnt it. I get brain "farts" all the time. Walk out of one room and totally forget what you were going after. ROFL. My daughter is merciless...she puts it right to me, "whats the matter, dad? Forget what you were going after...again?" ROFL

It really shouldnt be considered bad unless its the "same" thing and it happens more than twice in 5 minutes...LOL

Then its time to call Judy and see if she still has any pull as ESH. ROFL

hugs

John

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

HI JOHNNIE,
I CALL THEM "SENIOR MOMENTS" OR "BLONDE MOMENTS"! LOL I DO THE SAME THING, I WALK INTO A ROOM AND FORGET WHAT I WENT IN THERE FOR. THEN I HAVE TO BACK TRACK AND THINK REAL HARD. LOL I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S BEEN 40 YEARS! WOW, THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO OLD! OF COURSE I WENT TO SCHOOL BEFORE I WAS 6 SO I'M NOT QUITE 58 YET. LOL IT'S SAD TO SEE THAT SO MANY OF OUR CLASSMATES HAVE PASSED AWAY AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. ESPECIALLY JAY FIMPLE, HE WAS SUCH A NICE KID.
ADDICTIONS ARE REALLY BAD, ESPECIALLY TO VIDEO GAMES! LOL MY BOYS ARE THE SAME WAY, WHEN THEY'RE NOT AT WORK THEY'RE PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES OR VIDEO GAMES, THAT'S THEIR RELAXATION I GUESS. I JUST REMEMBER WHEN THEY WERE TEENS, ALWAYS YELLING AT THEM TO TURN DOWN THE SOUND ON THOSE GAMES, I COULDN'T EVEN HEAR THE TV IN THE NEXT ROOM! LOL
THANKS FOR WRITING ME BACK. GOD BLESS

03/14/09 10:30 AM #31

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

Lavanna,
As much as I grumble about "people" in general these days...fact is...I love meeting and talking to people. Even teenagers! LOL (shakes his head) Gees, they have some weird ideas...LOL I don't remember being that weird...selective memory of course.

I can still read lips pretty good, mainly because
I was "late deaf". So, sentence structure and general ideas still carry across and help in the lip reading and understanding. Groups are impossible for me because you "hearies" change the subject too often and many times without any indication whatsoever. lol For the most part, I can still carry on a good conversation...one on one. So it hasn't slowed me down and I refuse to let it do so.

People are the best game of all, which is probably why I am addicted to WoW. 11 million people play World of Warcraft from all across the globe, all ages, all sexual orientation, religious beliefs, political motivations, etc etc. Its a smorgasboard!

John

Lavanna,
Jay was ... there are people...friends, family that you plan to grow old with. You imagine yourself at some point being the two little old men pushin their walkers, playin "bumper cars" in the halls of some institution.

My brother-in-law was one of those and we buried him 5 years ago. (sigh) Now Jay. Its not that you don't miss the others, its just a personal thing that this one or that one makes a definite impression on you life.

I didn't know Jay in his adult life, his wife, kids, friends or how he conducted business. But I do remember a "bundle of energy" that just could not be put down.

From me and mine to Jay's family and friends, he will be sorely missed and I shall miss him dearly.

Hugs,
John Johnson Class of '69

HI JOHNNIE,
TO YOUR RESPONSE ABOUT ESH. MY MOTHER WORKED THERE AS A PSYCHIATRIC NURSES AIDE FOR MANY YEARS. BOY, THE STORIES SHE WOULD TELL WHEN SHE GOT HOME. I DON'T KNOW IF SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO OR NOT, BUT SHE DID. I WAS JUST A YOUNG TEEN AND IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. I REMEMBER ONE DAY MOM WAS GOING OUT TO GET HER PAYCHECK AND I WENT ALONG. I WAS SO SCARED WHEN I SAW ALL THOSE PEOPLE WALKING AROUND THE GROUNDS OF THE HOSPITAL. I JUMPED AROUND THE CAR AND LOCKED ALL THE DOORS! LOL AFTER MOM GOT BACK TO THE CAR SHE TOLD ME IF THERE ALLOWED TO WALK AROUND THE GROUNDS THEY WEREN'T DANGEROUS. BUT AFTER THE STORIES SHE HAD TOLD ME I WASN'T SURE.! SORRY ABOUT YOUR DEAFNESS, I'M GLAD YOU'VE GOT A GOOD ATTITUDE ABOUT LIFE. I AM DISABLED ALSO ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE OSTEOPOROSIS AND SCOLIOSIS. I COULDN'T WORK ANYMORE AND WHEN I STOPPED WORKING I DEVELOPED BURSITIS IN BOTH HIPS AND A FROZEN SHOULDER. I'M NOT IN SO MUCH PAIN ANYMORE, I KNOW MY LIMITS, HOW FAR I CAN WALK, HOW LONG I CAN STAND OR SIT. GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME AND I THANK HIM EVERYDAY THAT I AM ABLE TO DO WHAT I CAN TO SERVE HIM. GOD BLESS

Lavanna,

Both my parents retired from ESH and yes, the stories that were told! They started working there when I was about 7 years old. They worked 2nd shift and 3rd shift to keep me between them, so as no babysitter was needed. Anyway, I was out there at 10 o'clock at nite. LOL Mom worked 7 building...7-3 to be exact which was the admissions ward.

Dad worked 12-1 for years and eventually retired from 12-3. I spent a lot of time out there. LOL Could not get away with anything. For instance, Chuck Donaldson's mom was an RN on my mother's ward. If Chuck would say anything to his mom...yup...my mother knew about it. (smile)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Mine eventually became an inspiration to me. I got the opportunity to understand Deaf Culture. I will always cherish that opportunity. It gave me such a unique perspective on people in general and esp. the handicapped or "challenged" (chuckle). I am a firm believer that when doors are closed, windows automatically pop open. We just have to be receptive to them. :)

John

HA-ha Jan! My gosh girl...long long long etc etc ect...lol...time no talk to. AWW whats a few pounds between friends (as he opens another danish and pops into the Microwave).

(pouring himself another cup of coffee, offering Jan a refill) Life has been good overall. 5 kids, a passel of grandkids all living just far enough away that I don't have to worry about babysitting...teeeeeheeeee...listening to Bruce and Steve talk about viagra and golfing. Seems like there oughta be a connection there somethere...LOL

God help us if Kolb and Kidd show up on here at the same time....ROFL. You women folk might wanta plug your ears. LOL.

I am patiently waiting for my ex to show up...teeeheeee...OH Fran...LOL Since she knows where all the bodies are buried and where the skeletons are kept, she has to promise to "behave" herself! LOL

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

OH JOHNNIE,
I HAVE FRANCES E-MAIL ADDRESS. I COULD SEND HER AN E-MAIL AND GIVE HER A HEADS UP ABOUT THIS FORUM, COULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT SHE'S GOT TO ADD TO THE MESSAGE BOARD. TEE HEE! I FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU DID AFTER GRADUATION! LOL

03/14/09 11:18 PM #37

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

ROFL...You are bad to the bone girl! LOL You just want the juicy gossip! LOL I am sure she could fill in the blanks...LOL. While divorce is never pretty, Fran and I have always tried to keep our boys at the top of our lists for things to protect. We never wanted our feelings to spill over to the kids. We just always said that the boys come first. And so it remained for many years.

We are good friends and we talk. So if your expecting a "blow out" ...lol...not gonna happen. However, if you want some good juicy stories...(evil laughter)...go ahead.

John

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

JOHNNIE,
IF FRANCES IS STILL LIKE SHE WAS A CHILD GROWING UP, I DON'T SEE HER GETTING ON HERE AND SPREADING GOSSIP ABOUT YOU OR ANYBODY. I DON'T LISTEN TO GOSSIP AND I DON'T SPREAD IT. I JUST WANTED TO SEE YOU SQUIRM..... I LIKE SEEING ALL MEN SQUIRM... BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT US WOMEN AND BY THE TIME THEY THINK THEY GOT US FIGURED OUT WE CHANGE. LOL GOD BLESS

03/15/09 09:52 AM #39

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

Lavanna,

I am not even going to go there. I tease and joke around and if I have said anything up to this point to upset anyone, please accept my humble apology.

Frances is certainly welcome to show up here and correct anything that I have said about anything.

As for figuring out what women want or how they respond...sweetheart...I am 58 years old. I really don't care. Life is way too short to be playing games at this late date. And if that offends anyone...again my apologies.

John

03/15/09 09:27 PM #40

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES TO ALL YOU MEN OUT THERE! I DIDN'T MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE OR BRUISE YOUR EGOS.... I'M JUST HAPPY THAT I FOUND A CLASSMATE THAT WILL WRITE TO ME. WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL NO BOYS WOULD SPEAK TO ME. I DIDN'T LIKE HIGH SCHOOL MUCH, JUST THE PEP SQUAD, I REALLY ENJOYED THAT. I WANTED SO BADLY TO BE A CHEERLEADER, EVEN WENT TO A WEEK LONG CAMP FOR IT, BUT OF COURSE I DIDN'T MAKE IT. I WASN'T PRETTY ENOUGH OR POPULAR ENOUGH. BUT THAT'S OK. IT DIDN'T KILL ME NOT BEING CHOSEN, I'M STILL HERE AND I HAVE MY OWN GIFTS AND TALENTS TODAY. I LOVE TO DO NARRATION AND READ SCRIPTURE I HAVE JUST BEEN ELECTED SECRETARY OF OUR CHURCH BOARD, AND I AM THE SECRETARY/TREASURER OF OUR ALLIANCE WOMEN AT CHURCH. GOD ISN'T FINISHED WITH ME YET. TAKE CARE....

Lavanna- I could hear you cheering from the sidelines in football. Where were you during our track meets?
Steve

03/16/09 07:33 AM #42

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

STEVE, THANKS, I LOVED GOING TO THE FOOTBALL GAMES, WHEN I GOT HOME I DIDN'T HAVE A VOICE THOUGH BUT IT WAS SUCH FUN. SORRY ABOUT THE TRACK MEETS BUT IF I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEERING YOU ON. LOL

03/16/09 10:50 AM #43

Johnnie Wayne Johnson

Lavanna,
(bent over holding his crotch, red faced, whispering in a high squeaky voice) Its OK...I am just glad that my "ego" was the only thing bruised. LMAO!!!!! (wink)

Moving right along...has anyone heard from Victor Smith?

He and I were really close buds. The last time I talked to Fran she hadn't heard anything from him either. How about John Bigknife? He was the class of 70 but when I looked over there, I didn't even see his name.

Has anyone noticed things that are missing...like "hurry" was ten years ago. Concern for you the customer is like ""LOL" you must be from the other generation"

My wife and daughter on one of our trips to Disneyland, bought me a pullover, t-shirt, and cap...all sporting the images of GRUMPY! Do you think they are trying to tell me something here? NAW!!! Its just "there" favorite character, right??!!

I finally got a haircut and a beard trim...these, according to my wife, were prerequisite to my posting a recent pic. I don't understand...I thought my beard made me look more...intellectual!! LOL

John
