Mary Ann Johnson (Null)
Carla - I'm so sorry about your mom passing. But you are right, one came from Heaven and one went to Heaven. I will pray for your dad and for you. Like Tricia said, it sometimes all happens at once. When I got hit for several months in a row (my mom passing, divorce and other traumatic things), all I could do was to hold on to Jesus, because I could never have held up in my own strength. It's ok when we are weak, if we just know where to go. Also, My mom was almost 90 years old and had been in assisted living or a nursing home for several years. I knew she didn't want to be in that condition, so her passing meant healing and rejoining with her other family members. Of course I cried, but also I was glad that she had gone on. I know your mom is at peace and joyfully anticipating the day you will all be together again. Steve - I haven't even been online in 2 weeks and I missed your birthday! So, I will wish that the best year of your life will be this year! From what you write, I imagine that something having to do with golf could be in your wish for a great year! And 58 is not so bad, I've been there since April. Carla - I'm thankful that you are an experienced teacher, because you can lean back, at least a little, on that experience right now. I started in Broken Arrow on August 5th (school started the 12th). It's a good system, but I'm about "meetinged" out. I think they have a meeting to plan meetings. I think I'll live to tell the story, but I do hope my house sells soon - That would save 2 hours a day in commuting. I know you will enjoy the new little one so much. There is just something in a baby's smile that makes the world alright again. Bruce - I am so far behind that I just read about The Nutcracker, with Mrs White. I had forgotten that until you mentioned it. I don't have a memory of playing a part, I must have been a block or something. I'm pretty sure I would remember if had gotten to be a sugar plum fairy or Clair. Short girls always got to be sugar plum fairies, but I'm not bitter. I always got to be a student director of plays in high school (Mrs. Wichert told my mother it was because I was organized). I just wanted to be front and center, so someone would hand me a microphone, but I remained hidden behind the scenes. I think some short girl got to be the heroine! But does anyone remember the teacher - Mr. Topping- who directed high school plays when we were in about the the 5th grade. He did Carousel and The King and I - it was quite an undertaking. I did get to play kid parts in those plays and I loved it. He and his wife had aquariums and sold tropical fish, which was something in those days. There certainly was no place else in Vinita to get tropical fish bqack then (pre WalMart). This weekend is Rodeo time, I think. Sometime I want to go back to the all school reunion, as I've never done that. I think I remember that school always started just after rodeo and it seemed that weather began to cool down some at that time. School started later then, but we didn't have fall or spring break - just a day or two at Easter. Does anyone under 80 go to the all school reunion? Of course, I really like most of the 80 year olds... Also, Mark Elam was on Classmates.com at one time - I don't know if he still is. But, as I recall, he is married and has children and seems to be happy in life. I had a crush on Mark too, in grade school. He had dark hair (I don't think he has any now) and a flat top that you could set your dinner plate on. He always wore (like every other boy) striped t-shirts and rolled up blue jeans (I'm sure his mother bought them with grow space.)
