All -

I'm not a VHS 69 graduate - I attended 4 different high schools - but am fondest of VHS which I attended in 68 after Sared Heart Academy closed in 67. My family moved at the end of my junior year at VHS so I attended (and graduated from) yet another HS. Anyway I was friends with Tom Greiner, Joe Gardner, Carl Lauchner, Jay Fimple and other Sacred Heart transplants to VHS.

That said, I've really gotten a kick out of reading your message forum - I had forgotten about the old oil refinery, Doodyballs, Ms. Turtleotte (she was my next door neighbor at Grand Lake) and other Vinita characters and escapades.

Thanks for sharing,

doug

Doug - Nice to hear from you. I didn't realize that you moved so much. I lived in one house for 18 plus years! You probably developed good people skills in the moving process.

Welcome Doug, aka Douglas aka another name that I can't recall.

Doug works well - I had several "nick" names, most of which were less than complimentary, but generally well deserved.

As to attending several high-schools, it was mostly by choice as a stratety to evade prior year embarassments. Better to be known as the "new kid" than as the "doofus from last year".

Come to think of it, it's still a favored strategy.

Hello everyone! Yes,I really am alive and well but have been burning the candle too much. I love my job at the Chamber and have worked on a big event for the town the past 2 months and it's finally done. We held a Holiday Parade and area-wide Shopping Spree followed by a Kid's Winter Wonderland complete with 800 cookies, hot chocolate and photos with Santa. The place was packed! Oh, I forgot to throw in the Festival of the Trees on Thanksgiving weekend. It doesn't sound like much to type it but it was a great deal of work.
I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and am trying to catch up. I will try to do better. I wish you all much joy this Holiday Season and a happy and rewarding New Year! Love, Rhea

Hoping everyone is warm and snug and where you want to be this Christmas Eve night! The blizzard of 2009 is in full force at this very moment, 19 degrees and a strong north wind producing a windchill of 1 degree. 10 inches of snow predicted by Christmas morning. (yesterday it was near 60 degrees) The Will Rogers turnpike is now closed due to the pile up of snow.

Judy - I hope the electricity doesn't go out. We had that cold front go through last week. It got down in the 40s here and it was cold.

Paul and Judy it's cold here tonight, -19 with the wind chill at -40. It's a bit brisk. Merry Christmas.

It's Christmas Day, but I don't know how merry! It is 15 degrees and there is a brisk wind from the west that is blowing the dry snow into the drifts making even bigger drifts. I don't believe we got 10 inches of snow, but we have huge drifts. The back outside door is froze shut because of a huge drift is covering the porch. So I guess I will pack on the clothes and go out and clear it. Looks like we are in for a week or more of this snow staying around. Temps are not to rise much above freezing for the next few days and remain the in teens over the nights.

I know this is nothing in comparison to Jan's Montana weather, but that is their norm! We like 40, 50 or even 60 degree Christmas Days around here! The cattle were even upset yesterday when this weather started. They walked or ran from one side of the pasture to the other all day long.

Judy - The cold weather builds character.... just ask Jan.

Paul - You are right - Jan is a real character! I don't think any of our weather stories can ever impress her! But this will be a fun Christmas break for Oklahoma kids.
Jan - My Montana son-in-law (and daughter)headed south, to meet his parents, at his sister's house and then on to San Antonio. It has to be warmer there!
Rhea - Hope you get a very well deserved break over the holidays! It's ok to do that!
All - Hope all of you got to spend Christmas with people you love and have a wonderful New Year!

We're having a bunch over tomorrow night for a whatever party. I suppose we'll have a couple of tables of cards, and a couple of games. I bought a new game "Things" the adult version, I guess it can get pretty off colored, but I doubt anyone in this group will get too wild. Anyway Happy New Year everyone, stay safe.

We're having neighbors over tomorrow night and doing steak and lobster. We only do that once a year. Hope we can make it past Midnight! Happy New Year to everyone!

Rhea your menu sounds a whole lot better than mine, think I'd rather be at your party. Have a great time. Steve shall I call you at 12? Happy New Year!!

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

The party's over la la la etc. We had 14 and it was a nice evening/morning. Sorry Steve I forgot to call. Rhea how was the lobster? I think our steak is equal or better than most, but MT lobsters leave a little to be desired.

Jan - Those Montana lobsters might be a bit better if you didn't get them out of the local pond.

All those who pray, please pray for my sister Sharon she is in Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was taken there Monday after she collapsed at home. She is in ICU and in critical condition. She was brought in with very low blood pressure and very de-hydrated. Then she contracted an infection in her lungs that has spread all over her body. My sis from Texas is on her way there now I am waiting to hear from her when she sees her. Thanks for your prayers and concern.
