Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Did someone say "crawdads"? i can tell you how to catch them. It's to cold in Montana for crawdads.
Steve - I can tell you the last time you were up till midnight - the reunion - can't you remember that?
I stayed up way past midnight, but did the old people thing of waking up at the same time anyway!
All - Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year! Do you remember thinking about any date after 2000 being so futuristic? Someone told me last night about thinking ( in the 60's) that anything in the year 2000 plus would have to be like "The Jetson's" - in some ways it is!

Mary Ann- Remember the 1969 song "In the Year 2525 by Zager & Evans?"

Judy ......"If man is still aliiiive"! Once computers arrived, we entered a newer, faster era - be it for better or worse. You don't want to ask me about texting. There was a movie about 2 guys from the 50's who enter the 90's? There were so astonished to see "money come out from a slot in a wall" (ATM). I almost can't leave without a cell phone now. To think of some of the potential situations I have been in (pre cell phone days),without a phone, amazes me now. I used to speak to one of your relatives before I made a local call ( now that is ancient).

We actually are catching crawdads, we do a lot of ice fishing. But I have to confess I've never eaten one, at least one of these. The ice is about 8" to a foot thick, and you just drive all over the reservoir (pond) Mt term not mine. I have to admit driving a dually ton pickup across the darn thing makes you pucker up a little bit. It isn't something I really like to do but if I want to go I have to. And lord know I want to go. The fishing on the river has been better than fishing on Nelson reservoir, you really need to be aware of currents on the river though. We don't drive on it thankfully. We are due for a major winter storm tonight, snow thru Wed and then temps -25 and wind so the wind chills will be brutal. But like Judy says it's expected here, but it still wears you down a little. The weather wasn't nice enough during Christmas for the kids to go out and sled or do anything, so long hours indoors makes for "cabin fever". But Mt is still a pretty good place to live and raise kids. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! That's all I got; the kids are still out of school till tomorrow. Then Jan's Arctic Blast gets here Wed night. Temps are going to fall to below freezing for a day or 2 at night. Have to lay in supplies and turn up the thermostat.

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Dallas had it's first white Christmas since 1932! It is cold here today and as Bruce said we are stocking up and trying to get ready for the Arctic front due on Wednesday!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Rhea you sound like you must have everything under control! Lots of hard work but you sound well organized and that is why you are successful! I am sure you did us all proud!

Lavanna- I have been praying for your sister. Please give us an update!

Betty-How is your bosses daughter doing? I would love an update on her. She is still on my prayer list!

All-I just added two new pictures of my grandsons! We saw them a lot over the break!

Jan- I will come up tomorrow to ride fence for you if you will fix me some of those 'lobsters' from your pond.

Janis Ann (Jan) Dirickson (Marshall)

Anytime Steve. The welcome mat is out. Lavanna I'm happy for you that your sister has had a turn for the better, a nice New Year's gift. Bruce and Carla a hot buttered rum sure knocks the cold out of your bones. I just had an IM from Judy telling me that's it's -1 in Vinita, and I just told her it's 10 above here. Guess I better fill her in on the hot rum too..

Jan- I'm getting ready to have a couple of shots of Baileys and butterscotch schnapps! Is that close enough?

01/05/10 09:36 AM #1154

Carla Ray Williams (Yocum)

Mary Ann- Talking about computers have you ever skyped? That is where you have web cams and can talk for free on your computer and see each other by camera. It is amazing to me that we can do that with computers. I am thinking that is definitely "Jetson"! I talk to my girlfriend who moved to Lousianna a few years ago after teaching with me for 15 years! It is so neat! My grandsons keep in touch with their Maryland grandma that way! She can read them a story on the web cam. A teacher in my building has grandchildren in England and keeps in touch by the cam. Check it out!
For the record I can not text! I am not cordinated enough to just use my thumbs!

Lavanna- I am happy to hear your sister is better! I for one believe in the power of prayer!

Jan- I do not drink much but I will have to try your toddy! We will be using the gas fireplace for sure! They are predicting ice or snow on Wednesday night. The grocery stores were packed yesterday!

01/05/10 08:09 PM #1155

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

Carla- I believe in the power of prayer also. as for texting I can text but I do it very slowly. but what I can't understand is how do you text on a Blackberry the letters are so small I tried it out in the store and my thumb covered 2 or 3 letters at a time.

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Carla- We 'Skype' my oldest son, Cody, who lives in Doha, Qatar (half way around the world) 2 or 3 times a week. Also when I lived in Chicago I would skype Susan almost every nite (I hope those aren't monitored somewhere). I could also see the grandkids whenever I wanted. It's really great AND free.
Bruce- Is this one of the 5 days in Austin that it's too cold to play golf? I can't remember the last time I played.
Jan- I did some work in North and South Dakota a few years ago and would see the trucks with their 'outhouses' behind them on all of the big lakes.

01/05/10 09:36 PM #1157

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Bruce- I think I saw in the paper where TBS or CNN or one of those cable channels was going to show 'The Sound of Music' this Thursday at 7:00PM. Be sure and tune in.

01/05/10 09:58 PM #1158

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Carla - I don't know to much about how to "skype" - but I do know about how to hunt "snipe"!
Steve - Where the heck is Doha? Is is close to "Dooda"?
Judy - Thanks for the picture of your snow cleared drivway - I thought it was the road that I commuted to work on on Monday! We usually get more snow here than in Tulsa and I'm realizing that I may not get my quota of snow days now!
Lavanna - That is very good news, concerning your sister!

01/06/10 03:36 PM #1159

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Mary Ann- Doha is not the end of the earth, but you can see the end of the earth from there.

01/06/10 10:29 PM #1160

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Steve - Well that explains that - now how does one "ride the fence" as you offered to, in helping Jan? And how was The Sound of Music? Your wife ( Facebook) says that you watch it every chance you get. I did tell her that I saw it for the first time in the 6th grade. Our Camp Fire Girls group went to Tulsa to see it - and I ( like you) became an eternal fan!
All! Yeah - it has already been announced that school will be closed for 2 days! We don't even have any more snow yet, but I think it has to do with temperature. Maybe Jan should suggest that Montana schools close if it gets down to 0 degrees.

01/06/10 10:59 PM #1161

Rhea Joyce Freeman (Weaver)

We ended up having steak and crab legs and it was outstanding! And, even stayed up until 1:30!
I also watched Sound of Music again and cried...AGAIN! The big FREEZE is hitting us tonight...expecting 5"-7" of snow and high winds and down to -2. Of course, I know it's nothing for Jan up in MT.

01/06/10 11:30 PM #1162

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Jan- Explain that to Mary Ann.
Mary Ann- I think you misunderstood.
Rhea- Was that from Jan's ranch and 'The Deadliest Catch'?

01/07/10 07:40 PM #1163

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Bruce- I know that you probably have a bunch at your house watching 'Sound of Music' tonite. I am rooting for the 'Horns', but if I were a betting man, I would have to put my money on BAMA.

01/07/10 09:56 PM #1164

Mary Ann Johnson (Null)

Steve - If I "misunderstood" about The Sound of Music - not really, I lied! Susan told me how many times she had watched it and she did not think that you had ever watched it! But you're still not really safe, just wait till the grand daughter asks you to watch it with her!

01/07/10 10:14 PM #1165

Steven Ray (Steve) Postier

Mary Ann- I look forward to watching it for the first time with her.

01/09/10 05:01 PM #1166

Lavanna M. Hawkins (Morgan)

ALL- MY SISTER SHARON WAS TAKEN TO A LONG TERM NURSING FACILITY LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING HER SUGAR DROPPED TO 11 AND SHE WENT INTO A COMA BUT THEY GOT HER BACK. CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR HER.

01/10/10 11:26 PM #1167

Judith Ann Postier

Lavanna- So sorry to hear about your sister. I will keep you and her in my thoughts and prayers.
