Paul, I mean Barney, keep your bullet in your pocket.
Rhea has paid me the highest honor by naming me Andy; I humbly accept.
Steve has nailed Wildermouth as Earnest T Bass.

Happy Birthday to all.

Bill might have had to be Andy as he could talk his way out of about any trouble we got into.

Who would have been Thema Lou? Helen?

Who would have been Goober? Gomer?

Floyd?

Earnest T had to be doody balls?

Bill is right as Vinita was a good place to grow up in and raise your kids. All three of my sons graduated from Vinita and college with on a dr. so a super school system.

Johnny you are such a Goober. Miller is Floyd. Kolb is Opie. And, Johnny Johnson would be Gomer.

Paul-You are the camera guy!  We could do a remake of Mayberry!  We have put together a stellar cast!  We could all get rich and retire!  I think I can talk my actor/director son in to directing and possibly writing the script!  Think of the possibilities!  Dream BIG!!!

Steve-I am shocked at Y&R right now!!!

Carla  - Sorry, but I got slapped soundly by Judy for adding 10 pounds to her face.  Maybe the grandkids could be standins for everyone.

Hey folks, check this out - it looks like Mayberry has changed, too.

The actress who played Thelma Lou on "The Andy Griffith Show" was robbed in the town that inspired the show's idyllic Mayberry setting, after moving to the area to avoid big city crime.

Betty Lou Lynn had her wallet stolen at a shopping center in Mount Airy, the birthplace of Andy Griffith.

The Mount Airy News reports that police arrested Shirley Walter Guynn of Cana, Va. He's being held in Surry County Jail on a $10,000 bond. It was not immediately clear Thursday if he has a lawyer.

In an earlier interview with the newspaper, the 83-year-old Lynn said she moved to Mount Airy after being robbed three times in Los Angeles. In the TV series, Thelma Lou was the girlfriend of Deputy Barney Fife, played by Don Knotts."

Paul-OMG!!!  Thanks for the update! There is no where you can go to be safe!  Mayberry had a few scam artists go through its sweet little town!  I remember a counterfit group that had everyone snookered!  Even poor Aunt Bea was unknownly spending the bills at the supermarket!  I always wanted to live in Mayberry...and then I realized that Vinita was probably just like Mayberry!  We had Craig Scott who roamed the streets and protected us!  We were all terrified of him.  Who could forget Lucille Wasmund...the colorful lady with the wild hats, dresses and high heel shoes!  She was run over, on my birthday, as she crossed the street by the Hotel Vinita.  I still see her in my mind.  She was always laughing and smiling. I remember Joni Driskill's sweet grandma who ran the cafe in the Hotel Vinita!  She was such a happy lady! We had just as many wonderful characters in Vinita as Mayberry had in it's little town!  I bet each of you knows some that I have forgotten.  We had it all but just did not realize it!  We did not have to lock our doors and watch our kids like Hawks!

Carla - I may be wrong, but I think Craig Scott claimed to have a PI license - don't know if he ever solved any cases though.  BUT, when I was in the first grade and cutting across the park to get to school, he stepped out from behind the big bush (at the edge of the park) and drew a line in the dirt with his toe.  He then told me that I could not cross it - I went home crying. Maybe Craig should have ridden his bike to Mayberry and solved the case for Thelma Lou.

Lavanna - Thank you for remembering that Aunt Bea finally had a date!

Someone mentioned Lucille Wasmund (I remember it as Wasserman).  I use to mow her lawn as I lived just a couple of houses down.  Her lawn reflected her personality.  It was filled with little ponds, a well, and much colorful bric-brac.  She invited me in a time or two and like her yard, her rooms were filled with color and loads of prisms.  She was a delightful lady.  I suspect that as she continues to be remembered, she still walks to her office (with the "notary public" sign)  in her colorful make-up and is kind to little boys who mow her lawn (however badly)

(On another note, my dad had given me a microscope. I found that her well was well populated with perimecium.  I'm glad it was just for ornamental purposes)

I never knew Lucille personally, but I'll always remember seeing her in bright colors and heavy rouge.  I remember going by her house and wondering what it looked like inside.  It was truly a sad ending for her.

I used to "sneak" over to her yard in bright daylight and play on the little bridge that covered the pond of perimecium ( good thing that I didn't fall in)!  I was facinated by her yard.  I don't think it occured to me that she was at work - I was always afraid of being caught, but found it irresistable.

If Lucille "caught' you playing in her yard, she would have been pleased and probably offered you some lemonade and a chance to see her prisms to boot.

Wish I'd known that then!  My mother used to belong the "Fidelity Club" - a ladies book study presided over by Maudie Woods (I don't know how to spell Maudie).  Does anyone else know her? She lived in a house, about 2 blocks from mine, on Delaware behind the big scary house on the corner of Delaware and Thompson (I think).  Her house was filled with pink antiques and really fascinated me - but most interesting of all........ her husband was a Fuller brush salesman who had a monkey that he took with him when he was working!  That captured my imagination more than anything!  He wore a red hat! I used to play checkers with Mr. Woods, while mother attended her monthly ladies club when it was at Maudie's house (in the days when we didn't know anyone to worry about leaving children with for brief periods).  We watched Red Skelton and then he beat the socks off of me playing Checkers - he never once let me even come close to winning   They were next door neighbors with a VERY blond lady, who was colorful in her own right - does anyone know her name?

I am probably well on my own way to becoming a colorful old lady - but why wear brown?  My 3 year year old granddaughter says when she is big, she will have red nails and red lips like grandma!
