Kelly Merritt was also a friend of mine. We were in Indian Guides together. The only correction is his dad was Assistant Chief of Police, not chief. I would go to Kelly's house and we'd play "Cops & robbers." His dad would give us real guns to play with, obviously, without ammo. Can you imagine the backlash today if a parent gave a kid a real gun to play with? Fun times. I'm so glad we grew up in that time period.
