I've been looking for Danny Marcus for decades with no luck, so I've made him a Wichita Eagle reporter in my second novel.
I wish I'd paid more attention to everyone and everything.

Looking good, Girlfriend. I hope you have a sparkly, laughy, let's-do-it-again kind of birthday. And let's get our annual coffee soon. A hug
Glad to have your company on this next lap around the sun. Many happy returns. ??

Oh happy day, Girlfriend! We’re still circling O’ Sol. May all your wishes come true today and one surprise more. A hug

Hi, Eileen! I would love to have a catch up with an old friend in the new year. I’ll email you, but perhaps we could meet up at Black Dog coffee shop on 87th next week. They have spaced the tables and all wear masks. (I’ve had my booster.) Did you see my Emily was born in 1984? Talk soon.
Hi Marlis, you look great. I hope you will come to the last reunion in the Fall. Would love to see you!

Hey, Louie, on my next trip to Wichita, let's round up Alfie and maybe Carol and brunch into the late afternoon.
My poem for Sidonie, sent a few months before she died
SOMEONE I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN WITH ME
Looking for Sidonie in strange places
I expect her to yawn and stretch
from behind the pages of old text books
I thought I saw her blonde reflection
in a glassblower's swan, her favorite shade of purple
but it was only a girl with smooth thighs
that had never felt insulin's daily bite
a hint of her remains
in an old poem about Monkey Island
where her father finally hauled
the once yar Miss Quote onto the bank
and set fire to our summer of '64
and the Valdois' pond is a a vanished landmark
it shrank to nothing two or three droughts ago
the dock where we piled our graduation dresses
now a sun-bleached skeleton
Excited to launch my novel TROPHY GIRL, circa 1957 midwest dirt track racing. Hope to give readings in Wichita after the launch September 30th.
