Bruce Larson VIEW PROFILE

Bruce Larson

Bruce was an insightful, gentle, creative, talented and gifted soul, who couldn’t help but put the needs of others ahead of his own.  He also sported a wry smile and a clever sense of healthy adventure, and many of us were only too glad to tag along.  Godspeed, Bruce.

I first met Bruce when he joined our youth group's first trip to West Virginia. He had such an enigmatic smile-a man of mystery and thus, we became friends. We were "lucky" enough to get chased out of the snake handler's church-I think he went out the window and I went out the door. His long hair and my short skirt didn't quite fit in!  He and Jim Verville helped move my husband and I to Ohio right after we got married. We lost touch after I moved to the Bahamas but thanks to social media, we reconnected several years ago. Without FB, i would have missed out knowing the incredible man he became!  The tenderness and compassion expressed in his photographs of the homeless, of Vida, and his family was incredible. So revealing of the man he had become. He will remain a presence in my heart forever. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Bruce, hard to believe it.  Yesterday a message from him came up on my phone and I thought to myself, 'cool, Bruce has sent me something, I can't wait to read it!' ...thus is the system of denial.  Bruce was one of us, he was quirky, charming, hip and caring.  We might not have fit in to the regular mainstream but we all fit together.    Bruce and I forged a close friendship only two years ago, after you all celebrated the first reunion, I was unable to attend.  Bruce helped me through a crisis and I realized how deeply he cared about people.  Bruce and I talked often over the last two years and I learned what a great man he was.  He was a glue for all of us to stay connected.  I miss him.
