CHS Alumni Awarded Scholarships

The Alumni Association of CHS was overjoyed to bestow (4) $2000 Scholarships last night at the annual Senior Awards ceremony to Will Felix (Penn State), Jada Holland (Spelman College), Leslie Melecio (Temple University), and Nimi Bodejoko (University of Pennsylvania)! These students were chosen for showing great academic achievement, steadfast and diligent good citizenship, selfless leadership, and consistently acting as a role model on how to be a passionate, upstanding, and dedicated Panther. We could not be prouder of these extraordinary kids and wish them all the best in their next journey after CHS!

Was Latin in your studies at Cheltenham Schools?

In connection with a research project on Classics in the Cheltenham Schools, and a panel on that topic to be held at the Classical Association of the Atlantic States  meeting in Philadelphia October 6, 2018 , Ed Sacks '64 and I are trying to identify students who took Latin in the school system from the 1920s through 2018.

Please contact me at jeph@umd.edu if you would like to participate (or can provide information about others, including friends and family members of blessed memory, who studied Latin during that time)

The teachers to be remembered are Marie Hildebrand Bintner, Dorothy D’Annunzio, Thomas DiGiulio, Juanita Downes, Ruth Ehrlich, Philip Heesen, Joy Kohne, Nellie Neide and Wilma Slyoff.. but we are interested in hearing about others too!
