Alene Rene Marshall, 47, passed away suddenly at her home Sept. 13, 2008. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Alene was born in Yakima on November 24, 1960, the daughter of Glen D. & Daisy Gardner.

Through her grade school years, she attended Union Gap and graduated from Eisenhower High in 1979. She married her high school sweetheart, Rockey Marshall on Aug. 16, 1980. Their daughter, Nicole was born Jan. 29, 1982 and their son Rory was born July 10, 1987. Through her school years Alene was very active in all sports and was in the Eisenhower High School marching band. Camping, motorcycle riding, and going to the Oregon and Washington beaches were her favorite activities.

Alene liked to solve problems. These were her "missions" as she would say and would stay with it until there were answers.

Alene is survived by her husband Rockey, a daughter Nicole, a son Rory, and a granddaughter Corrine all of Yakima. She is also survived by her mother Daisy Gardner of Union Gap and a sister Penny Rodriguez of Othello, WA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Glen D. Gardner and a sister Shelly Allen of Lancaster, CA.

I remember Alene as free spirited, fun loving, warm, kind & ready to have some fun. I loved her red hair. She so enjoyed being in band.

The world has definately lost a very bright light & the sky has gained a brilliant star. Sleep well dear lady, prayers for your & your family.

I remember first seeing Alene at the bus stop in Union Gap my sophomore year in high school. Most of the kids from "the Gap" had known each other and gone to school with each other their whole lives...I was the "new kid". She was always very nice to me. I had the opportunity to work with Alene after graduation at Yakima Telephone Answering Service. When I learned that there would be a new girl training never in a million years did I think it would be someone I went to school with. I think she was as surprised as I was.
Her laugh is what I remember most. It was hearty, genuine and never, ever forced.
My sympathies to her family.

I was really shy in school and Alene was always kind to me. Her smile and laugh were such a gift.
Rest in peace sweet Alene.

Alene was a bright spot in everyones lives. She had a hearty laugh that would make everyone want to laugh along with her. We played sports together and she was always ready to go and very competitive. I will miss her and I am sorry for not staying in touch with her and with other people who meant and mean a lot to me, and I am truly sorry for that. I see too many people that we are no longer with on this site. We need to appreciate what we had and what we have and let everyone know how much they mean to us. We will miss you Alene!

I met Alene many, many years ago. In fact we met during our first day at kindergarten. We went to Union Gap School all the way from kindergarten through 9th grade and then off to Ike we went. She was always friendly and ready to have fun. I was glad to see life-long schoolmates at her service this last year. My mom worked with her mom at the school in Union Gap, my sisters were in the same grades as her sisters. While we were never best friends, we were always good friends and our families knew each other well. We went to birthday parties together, played on the same baseball team together (Harmon's Chicks, yes we were proudly sponsored by KFC) and just hung out at the park or at UGS.
Alene, you made a difference and will be forever missed.
