We are also grateful for all of the support and meals from friends that we work with and all of the meals from our church friends at Resurrection Lutheran. We also appreciate the support given by Steve, Anne, George, Susie, Larry and Dana.
Teresa worked at Langley Credit Union before becoming a real estate appraiser for the city of Hampton and then an appraiser for York County.
This is my final home appraisal:
This home is a mansion with many rooms. The driveway is paved with gold. The music stereo system is divine. Two beautiful watch dogs, chihuahuapotimuses. No need for a first-aid kit, no hurt or pain here.
Appraisal value priceless.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 765 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, Va. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Cemetery in Smithfield. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 3, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.

Ok, now I have a question.... where is Jay, Paul, Mike, Kenneth, Archer, Patty, Melinda and all the others who are out there who were using this forum like crazy...haven't heard anything from ya'll in a while,

Maybe you are just being "Message Forum Voyeurs"

OR

Maybe you are reading through all the past posts to catch up....hmmmm that could be.

OR

Did you all get fired for using the forum at work????

Dave,

I think Jay is trying to figure out how to put a tennis court in his back yard without offending is neighbors.

Paul is still remembering his screen pass.....

Patty......not sure.....

Dave
Yes- I am out here...sometimes anyway. As far as logging in at work- fuggaboutit. I am "temping" where there are rules and regs for rules and regs. After signing a 7 page document about what I would not do online I'm not about to get my daily Hornsby fix or Tabb79 fix while at work. Oh, how you both must miss me!
I did see you jogging the other day but I will keep your location under wraps. You're my hero.
Gotta log off to find all those pix you keep soliciting, then it's scanning time.
Note to Gina: if you tell me another one of your crushes is Donnie Jones we will have to discuss this over a margarita!

Dave, I'm not sure about the others, but Allen is in Virginia visiting his family. Allen, Trey and I are planning to get together Monday evening after I get back from HH, SC. I'll take pictures and send them to you for posting. I'm sure we'll be toasting Marty.

I spent me high school years trying to figure out how my parents could put a tennis court in their back yard, well it would have fit, they just didn't buy in. Also do you realize that now-a-days we probably would have never made the team or any sport for that matter. These kids have all been doing their respective sports all year long and their whole life. It is their life. Parents starting kids later in kindergarten so they will be older for high school and college sports, it is a real pain now days (IMHO). Just like marching band, they practice until like 9PM every night and have a totally different commitment than we did for marching. I watch the band now and I probably would not have done it. Personally I did it for the fun of it...and it was enjoyable, some work but mostly good fun with friends.

Dave, I have two kids who both play sports. Fortunately, my daughter has only dance, basketball, and soccer. Dance and soccer are her passion. It will be very interesting what she is going to do (cheerleader or soccer player in H.S). What contrast.....you are right we have pumped alot of money and time into her sports.
My son is the same way...soccer, basketball, and baseball...now he is going to play football. I wonder when he is going to realize tennis....
Every one of the sports have levels...recreational, travel, and premier teams. If you want to play high school sports you need to play premier clubs and know someone.....
I have sat on our community soccer board and it is very political, especially tryouts/selection. I quit this year because I found myself not having fun. I still coach, but not as enthusiastic as before......
You are right....in our day we did it mostly for fun........where did the girls fit in?

07/05/08 01:43 PM #588

David Emmons

Steve, well I thought it made us 'cool' and I figured the girls would come.. little did I realize I was not only a band geek, but a tennis geek.... should have played a man's sport, like football, basketball, baseball or wrestling... but Nooooooooo I had to pick the sport that was equivalent to being a 'band geek'... :-)

Once a geek always a geek, and loving it now....

Yeah I was coaching a Select team here and quit after two seasons of the Virgina Rush takeover. Had problems with the parents... way too competitive and if I played someone other than their 'johnny' , God forbid.. Went back to rec. where the parents are more fun and the kids were great and the kids were there for the most part to have fun and love of the 'Beautiful Sport', not prima donas (sp?)

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

I love the senior pictures added to the profile! Great idea! Kudos once again to the web master!!

Louie Luongo

Tommy, what did you say???

Terri, Had a great 4th in GA. Good food, cold beer, and plenty of fire works. We had Low Country Boil, Budlite w/lime and set off fire works for an hour (no sparklers). GA cops leave you alone down here, not like York County. No offence Richard.

07/06/08 09:40 AM #593

Terri Duncan (McDonald)

Louie, glad you had a great time! I love the 4th! We went to VA, Matthew's County to be exact. My aunt and uncle rented a big house on the water with a pool so all the family could be together. It was really nice. Had all the fixin's; beer, wine, fireworks. My youngest got to fish off the pier and caught the one and only fish, a striper (I think). With only men fishing with her, she was grinning from ear to ear for two days.

Damn Louie...I forget most of ya'll are older than me...Let me sloooooow down.. so ya can get your reading glasses. :)

Friday, We fished the first Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We limited out on flounders to 5 lbs. (Flounder must be 19", and the limit is 5 per person.)

House Autry is the best fish breading mix on the market. Try the lemon pepper....

Emmons,
I'm here. I'm in town this week , although I am leaving for Mich on Tuesday. Gonna see Lou and Trey tomorrow. Can't wait for that. I'll try to remember my camera .Went to pick up my niece and nephew from camp at Tabb Middle School the other day and got a tour from the principal, Susan Rhew. They added a new wing and gym when they began to take 6th graders. Saw the bathroom we used to smoke in and Mrs. Meadow's old room. She was the only teacher I didn't abuse back then. She is now a county school board member. Very cool. Gonna try to visit Yorktown tommorow. I hear its changed ALOT

Jay .... thanks for the advice. We will be in Stafford July 25th. The first few weeks might be hectic but would LOVE to see you and meet your family. I know my daughter would like to talk to your wife about the photography.

Greetings to all the gang!

Dave, I'm still actively reading the forum whenever I get to a computer. I was on vacation with my family in Tennessee all last week, visiting my mother and father. We had a good week and a great fourth. The best part about going to Tennessee is stopping by the fireworks warehouses, and buying up enough stuff to light up the skies. Like SC, you can set off just about whatever you want in TN.

I did miss you all and the forum the week I was away from the computer. It's nice to see Captain Richardson, or Jimmy on the forum--great pics of your family--welcome!

It is also good to see Trey has signed on. Sorry to hear about the "D"--you're not alone. Many of us have been through it. Last summer we were down that way and I went by my folks' old house on Calthrop Neck Rd, and on down to Molar Manor to show my wife some of my old neighborhoods. My mother still considers your Dad the best dentist in the world!

Terri, Karen, Gina (in no particular order), it's still great reading your comments in the forum. I am looking forward to getting to know you more from the forum and to meeting and being reacquainted with you next summer.

Yes, Terri, it was I who suggested cat-fights, but only after reading the ruckus over which of you is/was a redneck, or married and became a redneck. Add a few drinks and bring up which of you had dibs on whichever long-haired guy in school, who was getting South Dakota presents from Gina and who was not, and before long, someone might be threatening to scratch someone's eyes out.

Al, safe travels back to MI...it's always good to hear from you!

Hey Ken,

Too funny! Just to let you know, Karen's husband wins the redneck wars hands down. I think he put the RED in redneck, lol [although after reading some of Mike's [posts, he might be a close second ;)] She has always said she married him for his looks, but now that those are slowly fading.....(j/k Karen)

I can't wait either to finally re-meet everyone. Funny, how you lived right around the corner from us and I really didn't you all that well--of course, you WERE a band geek and tennis geek, and I was too busy looking for the "bad" boys, lol, and now I have a daughter who is band geek, go figure. Karen and I lived on 2nd St. in Bethel Manor. (I think I had read that you lived on 4th St., near the Wagner's by chance?).

Well, back to work since I still have not won the dang lottery. TTYL

Tommy.... ok who ever said fishing is a sport.

definition I found on the web

SPORT: an active diversion requiring physical exertion AND competition

Please note the AND; So I really do not think sitting on a lawn chair on the beach or trolling is considered physical exertion..

Now if you are swimming at the same time you are attempting to fish or rowing the boat at the same time... I might consider it

:-) I just couldn't resist :-)

07/07/08 04:53 PM #601

Kenneth Gray

Terri,

I'm actually a band geek now (guitar, drums keyboard). In high school, I was a chorus geek. My son is a junior now and is both a chorus and band geek.

Actually, I lived on 3rd street. I remember several classmates from Bethel Manor from 74-76. I do remember Karen, around the corner on 2nd street, across the street from Eddy and Janet Moore, down a few from Cathy Reese. I lived one house the other side of the Blacks--Micko and Susan, classes of 77 and 80. Up the street were the Heslinks, around the corner on 4th was Mikulas, Curtis Jeminez. Most of the folks I remember were on 5th street...Archer, Gebauers, Phillips, McDaniels, Debbie Grooms, the Jankowskis, Fasslers, Mike Burnette, Stimpsons, Walter Bogan, and many more whom I can't recall right now, either from our class or one or two years difference.

It's always fun to remenisc. I'm sure we saw each other at the bus stop, anyway.

Gina Valentine (Stevens)

I might as well go back on vacation... I managed to post more when I was in S.D.
I'm making money honey! i get up an start working on various projects and I don't stop until it's time for nite-nite.
Funny how when you work for yourself you put in way more hours than when you work for someone else!

So Welcome Back Louie Loueye! Glad all is well and you had a good time.

We had awesome fireworks down here where i live. yorktown was going like a house on fire with their show and Back Creek Park had someone doing some and we were setting a bunch off as well as people to the left and in front. It was quite a sight!

07/07/08 08:37 PM #603

Terri Duncan (McDonald)

Ken,

I remember all of them! My parents are good friends with the Moores. I haven't seen much of Eddie, Julie, Janet, and Jeff much, but do know their lives. I see Gary Wagner and his wife every once in a while. Haven't seen anybody else, just heard rumors about them. We used to hang out with all of them. I think I had a crush on all of them at one time, lol. Bus stops I believe have become a thing of the past (at least here). There is no one bus stop, the bus just stops at everyone's house. I hate getting behind a bus. I swear it stops every 3 feet!!! Not like it used to be.

Gina,

You go girl. Keep working and cranking out that jewelry. I wish I had an eighth of your talent. I was in Matthews County this weekend, went through Yorktown and saw Joe & Mimmas and York High School, brought back a lot of good memories. Well, I'm outta here--until tomorrow, :) Good night all.
