my children are happy, beautiful and wonderful parents. They are leaders in their fields and all have advanced degrees beyond B.S. (two with M.S., one M.D. They chose very expensive schools....(their revenge for me being a VERY strict parent).....Being a parent is such an honor. Being a grandparent is another world too.

I remember so well the wonderful memories of high school. I spent much time getting away from the truancy officer, Milton Hems. It was a blast in itself.
Then reality hit that the adult years were here and my "change" occured and off to the races for studying.
Of course, Bob MacDonald says I was NOT the valedictorian but we know the truth!!! I was proud to be the smartest kid in the class. What an honor to have that position. It means that I was a participant, a success, a school leader, a role model, a studier, .....good job Bob...really.
How often do you think of high school? Think of the years that molded you and how they transitioned you into the "now the future".
It is nice that this page was set up for our class. I agree with Sue Colangelo that probably most of our class do not understand that it is here and it essentially can be a facebook for us. Spread the news and maybe we can catch up.
School Story:

So many.....too many to list. A story a day and friends for life. Loves for life.
I think one of the funniest was Richard Landry being chased by Mary Foxell around a desk...how kewl was that !!
Troy High was known as a tough school with tough kids. Yet, it really was just a bunch of middle class kids trying to get an education. When you think of it, we were pretty lucky. Teachers that cared, friends that supported and of course "the BRUSH". He was just so warm and fuzzy !!!
I remember being in history class with Frank Morgan in sophmore year. He was eating a candy bar (I did not know at the time that he was diabetic) and I was next to the window fooling around with my fool around friends and he let us get away with it. He got my attention one day as a tear rolled down his cheek (I am serious about this and it was so moving). He said "It is so very sad to watch your parents grow old" I stopped in my tracks and saw his pain. It was an emotional moment for me too as I envisioned what his words would mean in my life. He was so right.
I lost my parents in the last several years. I worshiped them for their devotion to family. I remember as a young kid living in our small house that was two bedrooms at the time and sometimes having up to 12 people sleeping there all over the place. It was great.

I got to know Dr. Frank Morgan later on when returning from schooling around the country. He not only had his PhD but was a well respected lawyer too. Very smart guy.

TALK ABOUT WORDS OF WISDOM !!

A hello to all. I do wish I got to know more of our class but we all know the clicks that are made and remain to this day too !! Not that it is wrong but it shows you the meaning of those "wonder years". The power of high school in the formation of our thoughts and relationships.
I will probably write another novel somday on this site !!!!

George and I were very great friends in High School and beyond.  We used to correspond often when he was in the service and especially when he was stationed in Biloxi, Miss.  We have written often and  even more recently when our good friend, Larry Graber, passed away.  We exchanged saddness emails over this loss but George did not tell me that he was also progressively sick.  He was a man's man.  I will miss George and Larry greatly.  George sent me this picture recently.

September 20, 1944-July 31, 2018
On July 31, 2018 Heaven welcomed George O'Connor, 73. George passed away at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. George was born in Troy, New
York. Where he graduated Troy High School. Upon graduation George joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country stationed in Sevilla, Spain as well as Biloxi Mississippi. Upon completion of his military service he began his career with the New York State Telephone Company. George retired after 35 years. George married his true love and soulmate Roni O'Connor in 1971. They were blessed with 2 children which he adored. Daughter Karen Ryan also from upstate New York and son George O'Connor, Jr who resides in Alaska. George also worshipped his 3 grandsons, Alex O'Connor, 21, Sean Ryan, 16, and Nathan O'Connor, 19. George and Roni retired to
Florida in 2000. They have been residing in Lake Ashton for the previous 10 years and have countless friends they cherish. George enjoyed not only spending time with his
family but puttering around in his garage. He was active with the Lake Ashton Veterans Association and a strong supporter of the Disabled American Veterans.

Thought you might like to see a touch of my world. Me with the loops replanting a guys leg (see foot on stand to the left in the middle)taken off in a motorcycle accident. Interestingly, the guy to the right of me in the photo was my student and has since gone on to be a very famous plastic surgeon.
It is true that the measure of a good teacher is when the student goes on to be even better.
