DAN HEFFRON: (Pops) is what we called him at the ROUTE. Dan was one of many Senior NCOs at Enroute that was known by all. He ran B-flight and all the other Enroute Flights at one time or another. No matter who was the OIC in charge of Enroute, it was MSGT Heffron who was the Captain of the Enroute ship calling the shots. He took care of us AIRMAN when we got in some 35-10 trouble outside the Enroute area on RMAB. I have so many very good memoires of DAN during my Enroute years and some at UNITED PARCEL SERVICE were he and I worked in Louisville KY. He came to my home in Rineyville Ky to have a dinner and on occasion went out for beer. If Enroute had a manual on how to operate Enroute, DAN HEFFRON would be one of its Founding Fathers of the ENROUTE Concept. DAN, you will be deeply missed.-----FIG

You are sadly missed and always remembered Pops. You were truely the calm in every storm. When everything seemed to be going to hell in a hand basket, you just smiled and said get out there and take care of it. I was proud to be apart of your team.

I wish we could have spent more time together.
