Chief Longmire was readying himself for retirement when I first arrived at The Route. By the time I got a car, he was retired. Earl Young drove me to his office so I could get coverage. We went to a McDonalds and got McRib sandwiches, the first time I had ever seen them, much less tasted one. When they come out for their Limited Times Only, I try to have one in memory of 'The Old Days'. They can't come close to BB's BBQ Sauce. Can anything?
I digress. Bo treated me fine in that insurance dealing, and in our small talk, I got the impression he had his future well planned and provided for. Rest in peace Bo, you made a lasting impression on me.
I will forever miss his BO Grams. He would catch you doing somthing good and then call you out at rollcall. He would present you with a form he had made with carbon paper attached. It came with three copies one for him, one for your boss and one for you. He always said it only takes one oh-s__t to wipe out 10 Bo Grams. Wow he did retire in Germany and went into the insurance and financial world. For years he was my Oppenheimer rep. I am in disbelief that he is gone. We walked simular paths in our personal lives and he was a good consulor, NCO, role model and friend. I wish we would have stayed in touch after I left Germany.
