Comments:

Returned to U.S. to assume duties as SEA (Senior Enlisted Advisor and now designated as Command Chief) of the 39th Special Operations Wing at Eglin AFB. My last couple of years at Rhine Main were spent as the Maintenance Superintendent of the 7th SOS when its maintenance was split out from the 435th OMS.

I was followed as Maintenance Supt. by Chief Russ Brown who was returning from Korea where he had been serving as an SEA after his prior tour at RMAB as the Enroute Maint. Supt.

When the 39th HQ was moved from Eglin to RMAB, I transferred to Edwards AFB to take over as overall Logistics Test Supt for all new aircraft in development, including the C-17 and the new C-130 Combat Talon II. I spent my remaining 2 years on active duty there only to see some of the RMAB maintenance people and flight engineers come to Edwards to work in the C-17 and C-130 programs.

After retirement, I went to work for the VA in Salt Lake City as Human Resource manager and then to Wash. DC and finally Topeka, KS. to develop new HR and Veteran call centers for the VA. I finally retired (permanently, I think) from VA at the end of 2006, completing 45 years of combined military and federal service.

Your favorite Rhein Main Story:

Too many great memories to select just one, but I'll add something in the future. I particularly liked to harrass C-141 and C-5 flight engineers and pilots who often tried to break their planes and get extra fun days in Frankfurt.
