Comments:

Left Rhein Main in 1982 and was assigned as the transportation sq commander at Kirtland AFB, NM from 1982 to 1984. Went to the MAC IG Team as chief of the air transportation IG team, 1984 to 1986. Went to Kadena AB, Okinawa as commander of the aerial port 1986 to1989. Finished my career as director of air transportation at the 834ALD at Hickam AFB, HI in 1992. Retired to Grant, Alabama, built my dream home on the family farm, and have done nothing really constructive since. But I've enjoyed it!

Your favorite Rhein Main Story:

Some funny and some sad. Some day I may write a book.

Oct 6 B/G Steve Ritchie was at Guntersville Airport. Jean and I met & talked war stories with him for awhile. B/G Ritchie is the only USAF ace of the Vietnam war, with five MIG-21's downed during his second Vietnam tour as an F-4 pilot.

If interested you can read about his feats at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Stephen_Ritchie
