Well, like they say you can't please all the people all the time. The last meeting of the committee we kind of decided to have the reunion on the same format as the 40th and then those that can and want to can go on a cruise. We really are trying to include everyone. Keep responding and let us know what you might want.

Two of our classmates made my day and life better today.  It never ceases to amaze me how we can rekindle friendships so easily.  We throw out all social, economic and political barriers.  We focus on that one time in our life that was full of insecurities and hope.  A time when kids could walk several blocks away and not be in danger.  A time when every adult on the block nutured us with encouragement, protection and sometimes admonition.  A simpler time.  I wanted you all to know that Randy Kirk and Jake Minton are real special men and dear friends.   Thanks guys!

Hey guys, I just ran across this on Classmates.com.

Story

Dwight Herman Axelrod (age 59) passed away October 6, 2010 in San Diego, CA surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Goldberg Axelrod, sister, Sheryl Springer and her husband Harold, along with nephews Sean & Eric Massie and friends from here to there - too numerous to count.

Dwight was born May 28, 1951 in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from Oklahoma University and began his career in retail by accepting a job in New York City where he went through the Sak's Fifth Avenue executive training program. He moved to Tulsa and worked thirteen years as the men's buyer and merchandise manager for Renberg's. After leaving Renberg's he went to San Diego on vacation, fell in love with the city and decided that was where he wanted to reside. He opened Axelrod's ¿ The Crossings, a resort clothing store in La Jolla followed by a unique gift shop filled with flags, banners and unusual gift items. In business, Dwight had a way of knowing exactly what his customers wanted, in life he simply loved people, he never met a stranger and his gift of friendship touched so many lives. He loved life and will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor and his knack for being there when he was needed.

Dwight's family expresses their deepest appreciation to longtime friends Pat, Dennis & Jody, Phillip, Hugh & John, Scott & Randy, who spent endless hours with him trying to lift his morale and help him recover. A special thank you to the entire staff of Sharp Memorial Hospital.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to:
Sharp Memorial Foundation
Attn: Carolyn Lewis/In memory of Dwight Axelrod

I was a friend of Dwight's in our senior year. He gave me my first mixed drink! a Cuba Libra at his house when his folks were out. Lost touch with him after high school. I knew he went to OU and went into "haberdashery".

For all of you that played baseball during your youth in Borger---well--this is really HUBER BASEBALL park that we played at. It has become the best high school facility in the Panhandle including Lubbock---best playing surface, best fan facilities(concession stand with restrooms, seats) and a real press box. Booster club started the rentavations in 1989 with the park looking just like it did in 1969 and the booster club the last 4 years really put in alot of sweat and time to get the  park where it is today. Sure wish we would have had this good of facility when we played.

For #45, what about having a Name That Tune session.  Of course, the songs would be Vintage 1967-8-9.  I would be happy both to MC the session AND to contribute PRIZES for participants/winners.  I would welcome suggestions, since I haven't seen the TV show for 50 years and don't remember much about it.

I think Tom (M.) Johnson's idea is great... what fun!  I'd be glad to donate prizes, too.  I'd love to go on a cruise.

For those of you who haven't heard, Adrian Hartman passed away last week.  The obituary is online with the Borger News Herald.

Hello Class of 69--plans have started for our 45th reunion. No dates have been selected but have tossed around the month of June or September. The hard part remains trying to make contact with all classmates. This website has been costing money and would like to finally close it down. We are using Face Book as our communications tool so hope a vast majority of you already use FB. If so, a group page has been set up--search for BHS Class of 69 Reunion Planning page. This page is for the Class of 69 grads only. We have a second group page named BHS Class of 69 Reunion page that is also closed but will be open for our class and also fellow BHS grads from other classes. This will be the fun page sharing with our friends and pictures. Jeff Shepard has also set up another group page BHS Class of 69 Memorial Page. It is also closed  but we will get you added when you join the planning group. The Memorial Page is currently updated and accurate to the best of our knowledge and I know you will want to visit that page.( if your wife or husband is on FB already and you do not wish to join FB--we will let the wife/husband join for you and you can keep updated that way)

Encourage you to join FB but you can also send a message on this website with your email address and we will also keep you updated with email reports on all planning activities. Look forward  to hearing back from each of you.

So happy to hear of the reunion... I am not on facebook, though, so will need updates by email if this source is no longer an option.  My sister Christy (Wolf) Bush is on facebook and can also keep me up.  I'd vote for Sept. reunion, but will be there regardless!  Thanks for the information... looking forward to hearing more.  Theresa (Wolf) Riggs

We have set the date for our 45th Reunion.  It will be September 12 and 13.  Sept 11 will be the early bird dinner at Lorene's.  We have secured the Borger Country Club for the Friday night meet and greet with light finger food (can't spell heavy hors d ouvres) Saturday morning will be golfing and a Brunch at the College then Dinner and nonsense that evening.  Please plan to come and enjoy seeing your old (and I do mean old) classmates.  Sign up on Facebook to follow what's happening with Larry Huffine or Pam Carlock.
