Memorial Services for Violet E. Durflinger, 86, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010, at Lakewood Chapel with Pastor Chris Moore and Pastor Bill Stell officiating.
She was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 6, 2010, in Country Village Care in Angleton after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Monday May 10, 2010. Cremation has taken place.
Violet was born at home on September 13, 1923, the only child of Violet L and Dr. Roy E. Carr in Thomas County, Kansas. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Lake Jackson for 54 years. She owned and managed the original Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Store in Lake Jackson for three years before beginning work at Harris Pharmacies in Lake Jackson and Brazoria for 15 years. In retirement she served in the Auxiliary of the Brazosport Memorial Hospital for ten years and served in her Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, sewing, listening to Astros games and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Durflinger; her parents and her first born baby boy.
Survivors include 5 children; Rhea Darlynn Custard (Jack) of Casper Wyoming, James Durflinger, (Vickie) of Angleton, Gerald Durflinger of Angleton, Glenda Duncan (David) of Dickinson, TX and Sherry Skains (Tom) of Charlotte, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Brazosport Regional Hospital Auxiliary or First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson Memorial Fund.
