Gerry Sue I know why you havn't been able to post much this month is because you've been busy mowing Carrol's lawn and all.  After all Carrol still seems to think she is bullet proof (like my 9 year old grand son).  At least Carrol has a riding mower and not a pusher!  god bless you Carrol and please be more careful

Oh yeah, if any of you have a favorite "Minute to Win It" game let me know as I am the chairperson of this one person committee for the Rock & Roll summer party (which I understand is going to be a HOOT!)

Please pray for Marilyn and her sister in the loss of their father.

John George Schuhmann went to meet his Savior on Friday morning, June 11th, 2010. He was born on May 9, in Bronxville, New York, and lived there until he attended Bowdoin College. He took a hiatus to join the Navy V-12 program during WWII. After the war ended he returned to Bowdoin and received his Bachelors of Science degree in 1948. After college he worked briefly in New Jersey, and was hired by Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan, when he worked until his retirement in 1984, in Lake Jackson.

John’s main purpose in life was being an ambassador for his Lord and to that end he was constantly volunteering and staying involved with church activities. He joined Gideons International and used to speak in various churches to promote the Gideon’s Mission. He also was on the was on the board for the Salvation Army in Freeport, Texas, and for several years was a coordinator for the Christmas Bell Ringers. He was recognized as a mentor at Lake Jackson Intermediate where he helped children read.

oTNCMS_Ad.show();

In addition to these outside activities, he was an active, supportive father to his two daughters, Marilyn and Kristina Cockerila. In April, John underwent open heart surgery at Michael Debakey VA in Houston. He never recovered and was brought to his home on June 10th for Hospice, he died a little over 12 hours after his return, after enjoying hymns sung by the hospice minister and by Pastor Geller and his associate of 1st United Methodist of Lake Jackson.

His daughters delight in his life and rejoice that he is now happy and at peace with his Lord. We invite you to celebrate his life and witness at Restwood Chapel, Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 2 p.m.

BETTY ANN,  I talked with Paula tonight and she wants to know what she needs to pick up for your games.  Your phone number listed in your profile is not available so please get with me ASAP.  We are all getting so excited.  Paula went and got us a bigger tent which means we can get more tables and chairs in there.  Please, if you have not registered...do so.  I have had people email saying they are coming and did not register on our site.  We just want everyone there.  It is going to be so much fun.  Blessings, Marian

Carrol,

Your story is very interesting. I hope you are feeling better. Funny thing about those inversion tables. Larry bought one several years back thinking it would help his back. I thought he looked stupid on it and never understood why he spent the money. It's now leaning against the wall in his closet. He thinks it had a part in breaking his foot last year. (He had also done Mousercize with his students several days earlier.) He complained about his foot hurting for several days, then one night as he walked from the kitchen into the bedroom it popped. (I heard the pop in the living room.) Well, his foot was broken and took surgery, time off work and about six months to heal. His back is absolutely no better, in fact he is on medical disability for his back right now. Doc said if he continued running, jumping and doing Mousercize then he would need back surgery and possibly be unable to walk at all. So for now he is a stay home grandpa.

By the way, the Mickey Newbury Gathering is June 23-26 in Houston this year. Lynn Langham is supposed to be there again this year. A big event with singer-songwriters will be held at Dosey Doe's in The Woodlands on Wednesday, June 23. This will open the Gathering. Go to MickeyNewbury.com for more info. I think it's also mentioned on Lynn's Facebook. Larry came back last year with four of her CDs. She is good. I know she performed at the reunion and I read a rumor that she would be singing at the summer bash.

I hope you're all having a great summer. I know it's hot here. I'm working SCAMP Camp which is a summer program for our students with ASD. We'll be taking 15 students ages 5-11 and all with autism to The Woodlands Mall tomorrow. It ought to be fun! I can't believe I'm still doing this. The wonderful thing about this is that I get to work alongside my own daughter who now oversees the autism program in our district as a behavior specialist. Yes, like Larry said, that sort of makes her my boss. I do enjoy seeing her do such a wonderful job. I'll probably retire after one more year. Then, of course, I'll be a millionaire with all my teacher retirement benefits.

Love and blessings to all.

Suzette

Well, here's the latest in my life. I am a grandma again. On Wednesday I had one grandchild and now I have three. My daughter and son-in-law and beautiful, almost 5-year-old granddaughter have opened their home to two little boys. Their plan is to adopt them if all goes as planned. The oldest boy is almost 3 and the youngest will be a year in mere days. They have been planning and preparing for this for almost a year now, but when the call came it sent us all in shock. They arrived on Thursday of this week. We had to rush to make sure the house was really babyproof and to get diapers, toys, etc. They are precious. I know God has a plan for their little lives and for our family. We are so blessed. Please pray that legal matters will be fair for these little guys and that family transitions will be smooth.

My granddaughter is so dear and precious to me but I know she will be a wonderful big sister.

Of course, Larry was an only child and we raised an only so things are going to be fun around here for awhile.

Blessings galore!!

Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

Suzette

Hang on, Suzette & Larry, things are going to be fun around there FOREVER!!!!!!!!

HEY, MIKEY.  Know what I came across today that I didn't even know existed?  A black & white picture circa 1970's of YOU with that crown on your punkin head.  Me, Cheryl Lewellen, Maxwell and some other guy are in that picture, too.  You and your mighty mustache looked very, very happy.  You might want to rethink the threats.  Oh, I've put it with the picture of your feeble attempt to fry an egg . . . that one's in living color - same mustache, not so happy, squinty eyed - I think something hurt.

06/20/10 07:50 PM #2831

Mike Strickland

You forget what was written on that crown, missy?  It wasn't a reflection on me.  Go on, I triple dog dare you.  (I realize that violates the dog dare protocol to go straight to triple dog, but I don't believe in proportional responses.)

*************************************************************

I don't even remember writing the previous post!  I fell on my head, you know.  I probably still have some remnants of the concussion  . . .  broke 2 vertebrae, also.  I'm nearly 60 years old.  I just ain't right. Bless my heart.

p.s. Actually, no, I had no idea what was written on it until I saw that picture today . . . wow, we were a classy bunch.  Who did that?

Keith, it is really easy to get to my house.  If you are coming from Brazoria, go West on FM521 (headed to Wadsworth).  You will cross the Brazoria/Matagorda County Line and  Peter's Cut Rate Liquor is on the right and my house will be one mile on the left.  It has a big white barn infront and white/grey three story house that sits behind.  It is hard to miss it because it sits close to the road.  My phone number is 979)240-1398 if you have any questions.  You can't GPS because it doesn't register.  I have had several people email me to say they will be there.  John Adcock was hoping more "guys" were coming.  I told him they are but they don't register.

Helper's.... don't forget to be at my house around 6:00 PM Friday to help Paula set-up and decorate.  I will be grilling hamburgers so come hungry.  Also, if you have a trailer you are welcome to bring it.

My physical address is 37806 FM521. Cedar Lane  Signs will be posted

Thanks, I'll be there. Oh, and I don't mind there being more women than men at all.

See ya Saturday.

Keith

The tent is looking beautiful.  We were so tired last nite that we could not stop laughing.  Melinda was dancing around and singing, Paula was doing her "taping" and I was laughing so hard to see women almost 60 acting like that.  The thunder storms scared me last nite  that it might had affected our decorations (because we had to leave the front door open) but everything was still up and very dry inside.  We will be working again today around 4 or 5.  I hope to see all of you Saturday but if not, you will be missed.  Blessings
