Sitting at the Alamo Dome watching my oldest granddaughter, Taylor, cheerleading competition and thinking how she is everything I wasn't ,,,,,.beautiful, honor society and sweet. She told me.....grandma, I hope I'm the woman you are when I grow up. Oh my goodness. Words I will never forget. Being a grandma is the biggest honor God could have given me. Have a bless day.

My mother sent this email about Pam Kirk's health...

Nina Kirk was in Sunday School this morning and said Pam's numbers were not good.  Hospice has been called in.  She is feeling pretty well right and can be up most of the time.  Sha asked for prayers, so I'm sending this on to you.

I received this report from the service manager of Allen Samuels Katy Dodge with the results of the First Annual All Mopar Andrew Erickson Memorial Car Show:

Good Morning ALL,

What an absolutely amazing day we had here at the Allen Samuels of Katy’s 1st Annual Andrew Erickson ALL MOPAR Memorial Car Show, benefitting the Chrysler College Apprenticeship Program at San Jacinto College. It was a day filled with incredible people, amazing MOPAR machines from every generation, and the absolute best weather you could find. I don't think we could have scripted the day any better! Amazing!
Our most sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to the phenomenal, amazing, and incredible members of SpaceCityLX and the Houston Mopar Connection Club. YOU made this event a reality. YOUR participation and attendance not only made this event possible, BUT MADE IT A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS AS WELL!
We are PROUD to know each of you wonderful people, HONORED to serve the members and their MOPAR machines, and intensely EXCITED to be club members! IT IS MOST CERTAINLY THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE THESE CARS SO SPECIAL!

As you know, we had two main goals for this event; to honor the memory of our young Chrysler College Apprenticeship Program graduate, and Certified Chrysler Technician, Andrew Erickson, who we lost in an automobile accident last year. And raise money to start a memorial scholarship in Andrew’s name within the Chrysler CAP Program at San Jacinto College.  All told, we should be delivering a check to the Chrysler College Apprenticeship Program at San Jacinto College for approximately $6,000.00.

This money will be placed in a scholarship fund, and provided to select young men and women who desire to become the Chrysler automotive technicians of the future. You should all be proud of the lives you have touched, and what we created together. Thank you so, so much. We look forward to seeing you soon.

TOTAL MONEY RAISED: $6,000.00
TOTAL VEHICLE COUNT: 107
TOTAL HOT DOGS CONSUMED: 510 (Man, can we eat some hot dogs!)

Special thanks to our wonderful friends and incredible business partners for their participation:

I have had several people ask me how they can donate to the Andrew Erickson Memorial CAP Scholarship fund. San Jacinto College has a website that accepts donations - just be sure to put Andrew Erickson CAP Scholarship in the "Gift Designation" field on the second page (you will have to scroll down to see it).
Thank you!

I would love to be a part of a 'get together' if someone wants to have it at their home or even a restaurant. Traveling a lot right now. I leave for S. Korea in two weeks, and in seven weeks I go to Uganda. Then in August I will be in Singapore and Indonesia.

I love all of you.

I always loved the Kirk Family. Mr. Kirk was always a great coach. I spoke with Mrs. Kirk and she said the funeral is Friday, 10:00 am in Covington, La.

Pam Kirk G.'s funeral will be at St Peter's Catholic Church in Covington, LA on Friday.  Her parents' address is 201 Dahlia St., LJ 77566.  Her parents were very appreciative of our prayers.

Such good news from Michael and Kathy!  Keep praying for them!

I am so glad you all had fun at the get together.  I am having fun teaching the Koreans. This is my 9th trip to teach and preach for them. They are very passionate Christians, and the teenagers and young adults are the most active of all. It reminds me of when we were teens and our churches were full of the youth.

If I come to your heart and mind, please pray for me. The schedule is non-stop teaching. (they are so hungry for God).

Best update YET from the Poehl's yesterday.  P.S. I got an email from Michael this a.m. and he said, 'KATHY STOOD UP yesterday'.

Free at Last ! Free at Last !

Kathy got her last “ attachment “ removed today. The pick line was removed this afternoon. Last half of the staples were removed on Tuesday. There is a small area that needs to completely dry out, but the wound looks very good. We didn’t even have to go see her plastic surgeon today as Dr. Chip was able to relay how good it looks. Kathy got permission to bear weight on all her extremities on Friday night, after X-rays last Wednesday, so her orthopedic breaks are all repaired.

Monday we got to take a ride in a wheel-chair van to an open MRI near Seton Hospital on 38th street. This was her first time in 10 weeks to go somewhere sitting up, and it was a nice break. Kathy has been transferring from bed to wheel-chair effectively; and we have been eating breakfast outside or maybe just coffee although the food is edible – just not tasty. Both of the rehab docs said the MRI results were “ normal “ which I think means the nerves are all intact. We have not heard back from the nerve specialist Dr. Henry on the MRI results. Kathy has had a lot more pain, which we are told is a positive sign on nerve reconnectivity. Her Occupational Therapist have her increasing her range of motion, and finger reactions; but still a long journey ahead on getting back to full functionality.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo proud of Kathy. She has had an excellent attitude, and is a real trooper on enduring the pain during therapy. Kathy is working hard at whatever the therapist ask of her.

We are hoping to go back to St. Davids Rehab Hospital for acute rehab; which is lengthier and more intense what she is experiencing here at TNRC. The bi-weekly review meeting is at noon tomorrow.

Thanks for all your support and prayers as we have needed all of them to stay on a path to recovery. Y’all have been amazing ! THANK YOU ! ! !

Michael Poehl
