I remember spending the night at her house in jr high but most recently, her taking care of my mom at the ER. Only she could stick that needle in my mom's poor veins but I could tell it hurt her to do it. Sing with the Angels Melinda!  God Bless Our Class!

Please keep Mike Strickland and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Audrey Louise Strickland

Audrey Louise Strickland of Madisonville, Texas, died April 19, 2013 from the effects of a stroke.  She was born on December 22, 1928 in Gulfport, MS, the only child of Harold D. and Myrtie Marie (Coston) Switzer.  The Stricklands were long-time residents of Brazoria County before moving to Madison County several years ago.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, John E. Strickland of Madisonville; daughter, Sharon (Wayne) Stewart of Normangee; son, Mike (Linda) of Austin; daughter, Robbye (Don) Prilop of Brazoria; and son, Randy of Madisonville.  She is also survied by eight grandchildren:  Sherri Clakley, Lori Christensen, David (Dena) Stewart, Valerie Prilop, Collin (Ashlee) Strickland, Bryce (Al) Van Ert, and Matthew Strickland.  She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren.

Mother was blessed with a beautiful voice but had not been able to sing in several y ears.  We are sure she is singing her heart out now with a celestial choir.  At her request, she will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

A special thanks to the staff at Madisonville Assisted Living and Care Center, the nurses of Madison St. Joseph’s Hospital and to Dr. Villanueva for their care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Freeport, Texas, the SPCA or any animal shelter of your choice.

We love you, Mom, and we will always miss you.

Mary Metzger (Metzger)

Hi, Everyone - Just wanted to let you know that the 2nd Memorial Car Show is being organized and has been scheduled for September 28th on the San Jacinto College Main campus.  This show funds a scholarship in my son's name for automotive technology students.  Andrew was killed in a car accident about 3-1/2 years ago and the first show raised $6000.  If we can get the total raised to $25K, then the scholarship will be self perpetuating, which is the goal.

Give me a call at 832-275-8792 or email if you need additional information.  We are still looking for staff for the show, donations for raffle prizes, and of course, cars to be entered,

Thanks so much,

Mary

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

I have to say that I have been neglegent to this site due to unforeseen circumstances.  But I do rely on it for facts about our class, such as updates on deaths, events, etc.  I try to keep up with some on fb but not all classmates are on, or maybe I just don't know it.

I attended the Christmas party and had a great time hugging and talking to those who were there.  Thanks to all involved who worked hard to get it together.

I know the weather did not cooperate, but I was dissappointed to not get to see people who lived near by.  I guess you locals don't understand how us "foreigners" feel when we finally get to come home.  I had longed for this visit for a long time.  The other parties were impossible for me to attend because I was working and lived 13 hours away.  But this year I am retired and only live 10 hours away.  So the minute I heard, I planned my trip.  I did enjoy myself but really missed seeing many of you.  Please, next time, locals show up for the sake of all of us who don't get to bump into you at the mall, church, or stores.  We love you and want a BHS hug from all of you.

As you have noticed, we are losing people yearly, so we must cherish our time with each other.

Love my BHS buds.

Judy

Please pray for Margaret Ammons as she prepares for funeral arrangements for HL. Margaret was there for me when my momma died. That is how she is and HL always worried about me getting home after class party meetings. I love you Margaret and I'm here for you.

Jerri,  I know you know my husbands name because you were just telling me you see Bill at church. Lol

Thanks for posting. Alice is going to post so we can get a count on who will be coming. I wish all classmates will be there!  It will be fun!

My apologies to Marian Sahr Bullard whose husband's name is "Bill"  NOT. "Bob".  I have worked with an attorney named "Bob" Bullard and in my rush to get this posted, I did not proof read.  Sorry to both Marian and Bill, who, once again, are gracious enough to open up their home to us.

So, everyone, get those calendars marked for Saturday, May 3.  Hope to see everyone then.

On January 7, 2014 (yesterday) I attended H. L. Ammons Memorial Service...

Every year we lose more old friends.... I know, that is the nature of life here in this realm of our existence,

but still it makes one appreciate our remaining friends, even more.

Margaret has always been a very special person, and we need to keep her in our prayers.
