. . .  Just a thought : we never think about death, until it hits home - a

family member, a friend or someone we knew - something we saw on TV, or

read in the paper. A few days ago I lost a family member ( a cousin ) - and

it's weighted heave on my mind. The other day I was shaving, and these

words started popping in my head - so I grabbed a sheet of paper, this is

the following poem :

                               My   Last   Breath

                                        Where  will  I  be  when

                                         I  take  my  last  breath

                                          what  will  I  be  doing

who  will  I  be  with  when

                                         I  take  my  last  breath

Will  I  be  with  family  or

will  I  be  with  a  friend

when  I  take  my  last  breath

will  I  be  with  my  children

or  will  I  be  with  my  wife

when  I  take  my  last  breath

                                           Will  I  be  alone  or

will  I  be  with  a  stranger

when  I  take  my  last  breath

will  it  be  when  I'm  asleep

or  will  it  be  when  I'm  awake

Will  I  get  the  chance  to

say  I  love you  and  ask

                                         the  Lord  to forgive  me

or  will  it  be  to  late

when  I  take  my  last  breath

                                                 Love   Always

The Class of 1970 has been hit hard this week.  This a.m. on FB, I read that Herb Boykin passed away.  He is married to Shari Runnels Boykin, also, C/O '70.

Joel Robbins passed away Saturday, April 28.  In the past years Joel had been diagnosed with arthritis, lupus and high blood pressure.  Even as a child, Joel was bright, compassionate and WICKED funny.   R.I.P., Joel.

Joel contined to be compassionate and kind as he matured. He was a dear, caring person.

Jimmie Ealson Waldrep, age 66, of Texas City, passed away June 7, 2017 at home after fighting Mesotheleoma cancer, for more than a year. He loved to fish and hunt. His early days were spent in Sheridan, where his father worked for Shell. His dad later transferred to Freeport where Jimmie graduated from Brazosport High School in 1969. 'Once a Marine, always a Marine' was something Jimmie endorsed. He was also known for doing things his way and on his own schedule. When his oncologist informed us that it was time for hospice, Jimmie didn't give up; he packed up and moved on to his next posting, in less than 5 days. He was a 'Jack-of-many-trades,' from mechanic to construction, to ranching, to refinery work and more; and he would use his skills to help family and friends, 'It's ok, Uncle Jimmie has a saw'. He served as an EMT and fireman at various jobs and volunteered when off duty. He rode a motorcycle trike with the Patriot Guard riders, and two chapters of Triadics Trikers claimed him as their leader. His family and friends meant a lot to him and they will sorely miss him.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gail Waldrep; daughter, Monica Waldrep of Texas City; grandson, William Rush; daughter, Christy Waldrep Youngberg and husband Chuck of Bryan; grandchildren, Aurora Saunders and Anthony Saunders; ex-wife Carol Couey of Teague; son, Jimmy Couey of Teague; granddaughter Alexandria Couey; mother, Margaret Azine Waldrep of Fred; brother, Harvey Waldrep Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Lake Jackson; brother, Gary Waldrep and wife, Colleen of Lake Jackson; four nieces, four nephews; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Waldrep Sr. and infant brother, Dennis Wayne Waldrep.

A Memorial Service will be presented by Pastor Clay Bowers on July 1, 2017, 10:30am at:

Northside Baptist Church
2801 N Logan St (25th Street)
Texas City, Texas 77590.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to cancer research.

RIP JIMMIE

For those who knew him at BHS, Reece Clinton Parrie died July 11, 2017 from a long illness.  Reece, (his caregiver brother) Bruce and his mother Honey lived together in Sweeny, TX.  Both Reece & his mother were very ill.  His mother died in January this year.  Donnis, Reece's sister, told me that he died in his sleep.  There's not been an Obituary written for Reece's death.  I could not find his name listed in our Exporter Profiles.  I do know that he was a kind, soft spoken man.  He served our country in the U.S. Marines.  I wanted to share this sad news with our classmates who knew him.

I am very sorry to hear about Reece. He was one of my longtime Clute friends and he was a very good person. We grew up together in Clute. From little league baseball to football at CJH, to going to the Astrodome watching the Astros. I knew his family quite well. RIP brother, many of us from Clute will remember you for the rest of our days.

Thanks Nancy for letting us know.

The ' Baby Boom ' generation  :  well writen & presented.  Thank you !  It brought me back to things forgotten, & things remembered. But most of all, it was an insite of our generation - known as ' The Baby Boomers '.  We've seen a lot & been through a lot - and the world has changed before our very eyes. From the first man in space, to the first black President  - we've lived through it all.  From childhood to adulthood, from parents to grandparents, through the good times & the tough times - and the in between times. And now, as we head off into the sunset, and our ' Golden Years ' - the best we can hope, is that we did our best. And in some way, make a difference  - & hope for a better America, and a better future for our children & grandchildren !

Things are cozy here in SSB today. I'm home for a bath and to do lil chores. Not much damage here, except debris from a rise of maybe a foot. I'm just enjoying the view inside my lil place before going out to look around. Snd watch a bit of tv news. I stayed at my brother's in Victoria. The. Howling wind on the day 'he' came through would make Jimi proud! This last week was. Kinda different than Ike. Oh, and by the way, my bro's' wife's cousin and 'my bro we're talking, before I left this second time and was turned around at Midfield prior to more evacs down this way on Sun. morning. 'Twas a not-fun-for-adult experience this time. Milt said Carla was on 9/11/61! I kinda choked. We'd been living with the doors open in V. and only LN did the mosquitoes start to get into our new "living spaces"

Y'all remember chemistry teacher, Mrs. Ross?  I remember her always knitting - in class and at basketball games.  The first thing she ever said to me was, "Are you Mike's sister?  He was a favorite."  I just tried to shut up in her class - the only teacher I EVER had that I was little bit afraid of . . . she did not play, but I sure respected and liked her.
