Becky CR - there is a penalty for late enrollment for Medicare. It is 10%percent of premium for each 12 month period you could have been enrolled. The penalty runs for twice that time.

So GET enrolled! And go to a SS office ASAP to make sure about this. I got the AARP supplement plan that seemed right for me. I’m so glad I did. So far the part D has not paid for itself. But everybodies’  case is different.- Dale King

Dale,

Since Becky has been covered by her employer's insurance, there is a certain length of time to get on Medicare even though over 65. So, as long as it is done within the acceptable time period (Special Enrollment Period), the penalty will not apply. I have been retired for a number of years and have been on my wife's (Pat) insurance plan at her work. Pat is retiring in June so I will be going on Medicare next month. Becky - I went to the Social Security Office this past week and, as Dale and Greg Hackney said, they are very helpful. If you would like, give me a call at 979-299-7187 and I can give you a bit of information. I'm certainly no expert, but with some investigation and help from Candy Sullivan Silcott's huband John, I know a little bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I already got enrolled with Medicare, and yes, there was no penalty since I was on a company plan. I've been shopping for supplements, and with my daughter's help, I think I have it figured out. I am easily overwhelmed with too many choices. :)

How cool! I see my daddy, Coach Gene Day in the middle of the 5th graders photo.

Alan’s career started in 5th grade on the field at A. P. Beutel with the LJ Optimist Club flag football program, to the fields of LJJH as my guard buddy and our Big Tie with Freeport, then on to BHS where we ended our season with the heart breaking loss to Galveston and only the District winner could advance unlike today. Congrats my friend on your Texas Coaches Hall of Honor. Much deserved and I know my dad and your parents are extremely proud of all you have accomplished and the young men you have influenced! Well done- Stan

Alan,

Congrats on your enshrinement into the THSFB Coaches hall of fame.  I remember those Friday nights at your house on Redbud Lane getting beaten into submission with those 16 oz boxing gloves.  Alan, I followed you thru your coaching career.  My highlight was watching you beat Calallen and coach Phil Danaher.  Basically you kept him from winning a state championship.

Stan, you are not allowed to mention the Big Tie ever again.

Stan Alcott

Understood, but Weddell made me do it! LOL

Alan ..... Congratulations on your steller career! Very proud of you!

Mike ...... I notice Stan mentioned the Tie with Freeport, however, he DID NOT mention the loss to the Clute Cougars 20-16.... Rub...Rub!

Just saying................ LOL!

Keith

Alan Weddell

Thank you Keith. Stan don’t bring me into that tie conversation-

freeport still says we watered the field and turned it into mud!!-lol

And yes the high point of Clute JH and the low point of LJ junior high football was that 20-16 game!!

Many many years ago in a distant galaxy!!!Lol

Keith - aren't you too old to remember those little details? LOL

We would have played you all better if Alan would have blocked his man like he was supposed to. :)

Hope to see you guys at the reunion.

The star of the Lake Jackson Panther offense had hung up his cleats and was working on how a 5' 5 " 9th grader could dunk a basketball ....;-)

Tony Barnard notified me earlier today that Billy Massengale passed away of bone cancer .  Hopefully, more information will follow.  If you knew Billy, you’ll remember what an extraordinarily kind human being he’s always been. RIP, Billy.

Dear Classmates, This morning Larry and Terry (Eudaley) Oliver's (my brother and sister-in-love) daughter Laura was in an accident while in Uganda and is in serious physical injury with a head injury.  In Uganda she and her husband Bryan were directors of an orphanage and have been in the process of adopting 3 young boys. Please pray for Laura and the family. Bryan returned to the states to prepare for the kids and Laura to come home after the adoption process was complete. He, their oldest child and Terry will travel to Uganda to be with Laura and the other children. Thank you for your prayers and please see the fundraiser posted on FB on their behalf.

Latest round of email bounce backs folks indicating outdated emails or something.  This means these folks are out of this loop (as opposed, I guess, to THE LOOP).  If you have contact with them, ask them to update their information on this site.  Of course, not wanting to be in contact with this website is also an option so . . .

(I think that is bad grammer, but I'm getting old and forgetting a bunch of stuff!)  Can't wait to see you all.!!!

Oh, yeah-almost forgot-Friday night plans have changed.  Lake Jackson has cancelled the concert due to budget restrictions, so we will still gather somewhere-working out the details.  We will let you know!
