Sorry this is off the subject, but does anyone have contact w/ Nell? I haven't seen her since, I guess, 1972. I did see her older sister Sharyne (Fields) in maybe the late '70s or early '80s, but have had no contact w/ any of them since then. Does anyone hear from or see Nell, Carolyn or Sharyne, or even know how they are?

Also, Lynn, I forgot to tell you that we all have night jobs. You need to get one, too, so you can spend more time on here. We can talk about the clothes you used to wear...for some reason I remember clothes as much as anything. You were the first person I ever knew who wore real Weejuns. In fact, I didn't even know what they were until you told me. :)

Hey Kathy,
Those Weejun's hurt my feet and gave me blisters on my heels before they stretched into the most comfortable shoes in the world. My Mom bought me a pair to begin every school year. I haven't had any since! Don't I remember you wearing the first blue mascara I ever saw?
I am so looking forward to seeing you so you have to come to the reunion if there is any way possible.
Lynn

Kathy -

On Wednesday, I called the Whitepages number for Nell Teas - it was Austin ISD, and the operator looked up where she worked, and transferred me to the school secretary. I think it was Oak Springs Elementary - left my cell phone and an e-mail, but have not gotten any response. Maybe she would respond to someoone else -

Carolyn called me about a month ago, and is doing well in Houston as a fundraiser. My wife Kathy taught her son Keith in either first or second grade in Angleton where Don Hood was her principal. Kathy said Mr. Hood was a dream principal, and all the teachers loved him. He even seemed to forget how horrible I was in band at LJJH where I got to do Cadet Band for two years !!

If I don't get a response from Nell I will get her e-mail from Carolyn and share it.

Okay all, here I am, Kathy asked last week, what happened to me, well, thought I should cool my jets on the sheriff's network, but now come to find out, a lot of you out there have night jobs too, so we're all using business CPU's for our personal fun, so guess I'll relight the fire and get started again...I see burgers are the talk tonight, so might as well plug my favorite, the In and Out Burger, but soon to change, just opened a Sonic here in Santee of all places...not sure of thier jingle yet, but you can have it your way there too...ok, just wanted to say Hi to all and back online...retirement #2 just around the corner, June 3rd, so will rest up in June, maybe go to Laughlin or Vegas, Idaho in July, and yet to dedicate myself but Flo's birthday is Aug 29, so just a week before the reunion, maybe a 2 weeker to Texas to cover Aug/Sep, visit family in Houston, visit friends
and classmates in Freeport, hope that plan can be put together...Peace to all...John :)

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

Yvonne Senturia & Margaret Willis Boles, have y'all had responses from former choir members? Okay, I mean POSITIVE responses regarding a little music during the reunion? While your voices are 40 years older, so are our ears and I'm thinking this would NOT be a critical audience – the spirit of such a loving performance would mean so much to the class and to the choir members. One song? Please? We don't expect Handel's Messiah – a round of Kum Ba Yah? Surely we cannot be self-conscious or worried about embarrassing ourselves – it’s just us after all. (Those of us with musical ability limited to changing cds are easily impressed any way.) YEARS FROM NOW we will be delighted to watch the reunion DVD and admire the talents of all those young strangers from 2009 who seem to be having such a fun time with their friends - singing together, doing the Funky 4 corners . . . and that one young man who seems to be getting his groove on.

Lynn, I cannot believe you remembered my blue mascara!! It was hideous, but I didn't know it then. :) More about all of this next week, but know that if I get to come to the reunion, I will try to buy some blue mascara and wear it just for old time's sake! :)

Thank you, Michael and Margaret for that info about Nell. I will try to send her a card next week.

John, I thought maybe you weren't coming up for air until you paid off the end of your mortgage out there in CA.

Carrol, I do hope they will sing. I'm sure they still sound wonderful.

Kathy, blue mascara, oh my gosh, we had some really funky fads back then; the shoes, the mini-skirts, the hair-do's. I get a kick of going through my yearbook.
Hey, class...does anyone know what happened to Vickie Roppolo? I have looked for her from the first reunion and haven't ever come up with any info. And Jerri, what about Teresa Walters? I hope she will come. She was my buddy in Mrs. Spillers' typing class....so sweet!

Last thing I heard, Theresa Walters was living in El Campo. That's been several years ago.

Mom's day true Story about my dear sweet Mom:
Once several long years ago when I was living by myself after having gone through the most troublesome time in my life (to that point), Mom was living out of town with my grandparents (Mini and Cliff) caring for them in their old age. I must have sounded down one night when talking to her on the telephone because a couple of days later I received a large box from her. Inside the box was A LOT of old newspaper used as packing for a very large (and rather ugly) cookie jar in the shape of a clown which warmed my heart and put a smile on my face (only my Mom I thought).

As I pulled out the rest of the newspaper packing to prepare to toss out the box I noticed a small piece of paper taped to the bottom of the box. I pulled it off and on it was a note that read “The empty space in this box is filled with warm love and hugs for you from me, please take the box and empty it out through out your home to use”. I did as requested by the note, and must have looked silly doing so, but I had so much fun doing this and afterwards each time I walked into that home I remembered the love and hugs that were there waiting on me and helped me make it through this hard time in my life.

The cookie jar is long ago broken and the note long ago tossed out, but my memory of the empty box filled with love and hugs will live forever.

It’s strange the little things we remember about our Mothers, but most of all it’s the love and hugs we remember most. Hugs your kids today, no matter what their age, because this is what they will remember.

My sweet Mama has been gone for about 15 years. I think of her and miss her every day.
The best thing I've ever done in my life, except for loving the Lord and my husband Ron, is being a mama. Happy Mother's Day, Ladies!
