I was asked to speak at a function today and heard the most wonderful quote and couldn't wait to share:

Life brings tears, smiles and memories. Tears dry, smiles fade but memories last FOREVER. I feel after the reunion (and even now) we will have memories that WILL last forever! Again, thank you committee for this site and all you do for us. I have made out my schedule for June and I WILL be at the next meeting.

Joe, how was your visit with your "reunited" classmate?

Julie, glad to see you back.

Remember, Hurricane Season Starts June lst.
Let's start praying now that we will have beautiful weather for our travelers and reunion!!!!!

Carol, you are very wise, especially considering you weren't priveleged to have Allie Kay Lovett for "algeba." Actually, her saying just came to me out of the blue and had to write it down before I forgot it.
Hope the meeting went well.

Yvonne, thank you for your offer & congrats on your bat mitzvah. Alan wasn't the least bit worried, Alice wasn't the one targetting him for the annuals. Actually, Alice has LJJH annuals & will scan photos.

DEAR, ALL: the committee is at a loss in connecting 2 email addresses with names. If part of your email address has "houstongirl", please let me know your real world name. Also, "nanatoboys", what does the IRS call you? Thanks.

06/01/09 09:37 AM #1193

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

Carol:
"nanatoboys" should actually be "nanato2boys and that's Cynthia (Strother) Cunningham.

Carrol,
I think I can come up with one or two Clute Elementary/Clute Jr. High yearbooks.
One might even show Dee Allen in Kindergarten!!!!
I see if I can get some scanning done.

Why did you sneak in? There was a reunion meeting yesterday you could have come & eaten with us (not actually supper but too late for lunch, 3:30 or so). Claudette Coppin, Vickie Norris and Cyndie Strother were all there so it was SPECIAL! You could have been a special guest, too!
Carrol
-------------------------------------------------------------
Carrol, I had originally planned to leave Sunday but that morning decided to stay one more day. I had so many family things to do b/c I haven't been home in 3 yrs. (I only worked the beach in after 6 pm each evening...plus this morning.) I did want to come to the meeting, but knew I would start talking and never shut up...I know me. I hated to miss seeing all of you.

I understand completely, too much to get done . . . our loss. We all talk, all the time, some how it isn't a problem - lol. Carrol

Alice Day (Smith)

It doesn't matter who has the Freeport, Clute, or Lake Jackson Jr. High annuals. If you will send the jpeg files to either Carrol or myself then we can use them for the website and the reunion. Great that everyone wants to help!!! It makes it all easier for each of us on the committee.

I have a 58/59 LJ annual when we were all in the 2nd grade. Also the 64,65 & 66. Julie Davidson Sabrsula, Cynthia Strother Cunningham and I had dinner last week and went thru them for hours - with the website up so we could look at then and now. What a hoot and a good time. And Julie fixed a lovely dinner!

Marvin I am soo glad to hear the good news!! God is awesome!!!

Well Dawn and I got back from East Texas after having a really wonderful time there with Glenn Pool and his lovely wife Deborah. While looking for Glenn's Jewelry Shop, we stopped at another local Jewelry shop and low and behold if Jackie Sorrel wasn't standing there working on some jewelry along with Johnny McBurnett one of Mark's sons. Comletely unreal!! It was so neat sneaking up on you Jackie. I wish Mark could have been there, but we will come back through, we love the small East Texas town appeal!! We proceeded to Glenn's store and then Glenn and Deborah took us out to diner...IT was great Chinese food! We came back to their lovely house and sat on the back porch and talked about the old days in our neighborhood and school, and caught up on about 40 plus years in between. Glenn and Debbie were excellent hosts and Glenn kept us entertained for hours and the conversation was never lagging. Coming to your neighborhood soon!!

NEWS FLASH!! Cleburne experienced an earthquake today!! 2.8 on the Richter Scale!! Hello California

Congratulations to Mark and Kathy Lee (Kramig) Davis; their son Lance recently got married--beautiful couple--check Mark's profile. (I wonder how Mark & Kathy stay so young looking--maybe they've been following Joy's beauty regimen.) Their grandson Rylan is a real doll too!

Does anyone remember watching "Weird" on Saturday night at 10:30? Art Grindle's car commercials on Saturday mornings? Sid Lasher of channel 11 giving the weather on a flip chart with a magic marker? I don't know why I just thought of these. Budweiser flashbacks maybe.

06/04/09 12:27 AM #1205

Janice Mangum (Colwell)

Mike, was Art Grindle the guy who would jump up on top of the cars and would throw around flash card-like price tags? I remember that he would sell used 1965 Volkswagen Beetles for $1965.

Hurrah! We just heard from the honeymooners. They made it safely to London and are enjoying "wondering around, seeing a big ferris wheel, and eating fish and chips." Now I can breathe easy until the return trip. More adventures are planned after the jet lag wears off.

Dickie Tracy

When you bring up certain things, it trips your mind into remembering other events. Clay Lorenz and I were neighbors and we used to watch WIERD every Saturday night at his house. We were probably 10 & 12 years old at the time. Then we would sneak off and call people at random saying: "I know who you are and I know what you did". Remember that movie from back in the 60's? I think it had Lee Remick in it. Anyway, we finally got caught by Mrs. Lorenz (Pat) when someone called the operator to complain. Boy did we get our butts whipped. The two of us got into so much mischief, it isn't even funny.

And Art Grindle was our hero. We would go outside and pretend to sell our parents cars until Mr. Lorenz caught me banging on the hood of his 61 Buick Invicta. Then I was the one that got banged on! Do you remember his dog Storm that used to jump up on the cars also?

Weird! Remember it well. I find myself going through channels to see if I can catch an "Out of Limits" show. I used to love it with that man.....omg...Rod somebody. And remember "The Blob" was the scariest thing around? My grandkids find it hilarious. They think it's a comic and I remember I couldn't sleep for days aftering seeing it. It's unreal how things today are so different. I found myself yesterday finding my oldest granddaughter a cell phone with email, internet and texting! I remember when growing up I had to wait forever to use the phone hoping the party line wasn't busy. WOW! Have a great day everybody!! I will be spending mine organizing committee's for my coalition.

Dickie, memories do come flooding back... Could just be the onset of my end times. :-) But, suddenly I remember riding my tiny motor bike down Laurel Street (breakneck speed) one cocld winter day, with David Judd on the back, when on the curve a cat ran out and BANG, we were all skidding down the street on our tummies! The next day, you were telling how your cat walked into the house, and dropped dead. :-( Coincidence, or signs? You be the judge.
