Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

Winona has faithfully updated the Military Service so that Keith Chatham and Jimmy Spencer are included. Thanks, Winona.

Wonderful Mr. Todd! Each year of junior high I was "lucky" enough to have a bottom locker. Almost every day I would kick out the hem of my skirt as I stood up with my books. And, each time I would go to Mr. Todd's office, where he would laugh, patiently staple the hem back in my skirt, and send me on to class. Thank you, Mr. Todd.

just wanted to let you know, took my husband to Nacodoches for chemo and his nurse was Dale King from Lake Jackson. Gave him the website and info for reunion. He didn't know about any of it. Also Doug Tucker was in Churchill for over 20 years. I think he is still there.

People, people, you’re killin me. Smatter? Don’tcha get it? Sup wa you people, anyhow? 49 days, 07 hours, and 53 minutes and counting down.

We need door prizes.

Delores Austin mailed me TWO (she won’t be at the shindig – don’t mail me anything, if you are going to be there). You don’t even have to tell me what it will be. Just let me know that you are committing to bring something. I will put you on the list, which now includes:

Yours Truly,
Delores Austin,
Cyndie Chrystal,
Joy Garrett,
Glenn Mallory,
Janice Mangum,
Marian Sahr,
Mike Strickland, and
Dee Ann Trout

For all those of you who commit to a donation, this week, I will put your name on the top of the list, in all CAPS. Wouldn’t that be nice? You could print it out and show everyone how generous you are.

I notice Reneau hasn’t responded. Come on Susie, be a leader.

CARROL RENEAU JEFFERS, WINONA HEBERT SPINKS, and JULIE DAVIDSON SABRSULA are all supplying prizes - NOT NECESSARILY DOOR PRIZES - but prizes for various events -IF THAT'S OKAY WITH YOU, MARIAN? IS IT, HUH? As a wise man once said, 'YOU ARE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!' (OK, it was just Strickland that said that but still . . .)

I have a photo of the 1999 group photo posted on my profile. I have had numerous inquiries about getting a copy of it. For all our legal advisors out here. Can I scan it at Kinkos and allow others to have a copy of it...Please feel free to give me a 100 dollars worth of advice Dee and others Dee I will come through for you a with a door prize

07/18/09 02:37 PM #1543

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

WOW! Really like the 30th reunion photo - I was there, came too late for picture and don't remember hearing about how to get one. Kinko's probably won't copy it but, hey, do you have a scanner? I do. Using a picture of a picture and my bifocals, 1st row 2nd person MIGHT be Bettie Norman Greer, 4th person is Cheryl Lewellen Price because she looks like she did in May 1969, 5th person COULD be Glen Jones and 6th might be Rhonda Murphy. After that .. . who knows. Thanks, Joe.

p.s. why ask a railroad engineer/preacher/baseball coach/wannabepolitician a legal question?

07/18/09 03:02 PM #1544

Joe Ballard

Carrol we could have a door prize for who can name the most people in the pic once I get it scanned to be awarded at the reunion

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

Joe:
I have a scanner...next time you're in Burleson bring the 30th photo and give me a call 817 683-5121.

Winona that sounds good. I may be delivering a survey there early next week

Suzette Gustine (Moore)

Now, I don't know if this subject has already been covered on a previous page or not, because I haven't read that far back, but here goes:

Topic: senior rings

Who still has theirs? Does anyone have any interesting stories about their ring? Would anyone like to offer one for a door prize at the reunion? (just kidding)

I still have mine in an old jewelry box. It is yellow gold with a blue stone and no ship on top.I remember getting 69 peope to "turn" it when I first got it. It doesn't fit anymore; neither do my wedding rings (now that's sad).
If this subject has already been covered maybe Carrol can give me the pg. # and please accept my apology for bringing old stuff. Speaking of "old stuff", that would be all of us, huh?

By the way, I should be in that picture at our 30th if that was the one held at the beach. I do seem to remember standing on the long pier for a group picture. I didn't order the picture though. I attended the 10th also, but nothing else in between, if my memory is correct.
*******************************
Good job, Suzette, new topic- I would have to hunt mine. I don't remember what I wrote much less what everyone else wrote. Trust me, the one time I pointed out that a topic had been covered earlier that was a fluke! I'm a great audicnce because every day it is all new. Carrol

Collene Shoemaker (Lewis)

Hi Suzette! I haven't tried mine on in a few years, so of course I'm going to try it now... perhaps this will prompt others to find theirs. Thanks for the reminder. *************************
OK, tried it on and now it is a pinkie ring... but I still have it. Now a memory comes floating to the top... in jewelry class Tommy Perryman, Ladell Carlton another girl (just don't remember who)and I were learning how to use the polishing wheel... each in turn 'buffed' their class rings, it came to my turn and, yes I buffed mine, only I polished/buffed the point off my ship!!! So all these years, my 'Ship' looks more like a tugboat!!!

Susie (Gerry Sue) Reichenbach (Tyler)

Dee- I will make a cash donation --- will you take pennies out of my piggy bank???? Really I will mail you a check if you want, just let me know.

It's finally raining here today and we LOVE it!!!! Thank God--- we have sure needed it, I hope everyone is being rained on.

Anyway the meeting is today and we will miss those that can't come but we will do our best-

I was looking at my picture of the 30 year reunion just the other day, I could name a lot of them but some name's just keep escaping my memory-- glad we will have name tags!! See ya'll soon--

Y'all...my nephew, Ricky, recently found out he has a tumor in his kidney and it has to come out tomorrow morning (either the tumor or the entire kidney). Please keep him in your prayers and please pray for the dr to make the right decision. Thank you.

Suzette: You wanted an interesting story about senior rings. I put mine in our family's 100 year time capsule that we buried in 2000 to be opened on Memorial Day, 2100.
I also put a check in there for $50,000 knowing it wouldn't be any good - but what the heck!

I've started my trucking trip for the summer with my sister who drives a big Peterbilt for a living. We just delivered 32,000 lbs of Tyson chicken in Indiana and am now in Chicago picking up 21,000 lbs of Peanut Butter bound for Los Angeles. Of course, we'll stop in Las Vegas on the way out there and get rich!

Happy birthday today to Cyndie Chrystal Williams and all July babies!

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

If you were born in October 1950 and had a parent working for Dow at that time, your birth may be in the 'Stork Club' announcement posted in Collene Shoemaker's profile. What a piece of history! Karla Sanders, Donna Billie, Harold Gartman, Pamela & Paulette Russek and Steve Porter were brand new babies . . . oh, and Collene.

All you classmates who have so generously VOLUNTEERED to judge for the gumbo/chili/whatever cook-off, at yesterday's meeting one of The Tommys made the brilliant suggestion to let the faculty guests be judges! How great is that??? LET THE SUCKING UP BEGIN. We know Carolyn Huff plans to join us and hopefully there will be others (personally I know that Carolyn can get 'er done!).
****************************************************
IT'S OFFICIAL, CAROLYN HUFF WILL BE HEAD (& MAYBE SOLE) JUDGE OF THE GUMBO/CHILI/ROADKILL COOK-OFF. Being a retired educator myself, I'm certain bribes and all manner of sucking up will be encouraged and accepted. Dee, if I were you (but fortunately that is not the case - thank you, Jesus), you probably want to watch your back with Strickland. He most probably will attempt to influence Her Honor adversely. I used to be naive but working for the d.a.'s office, have learned much about the darker side of man.

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Dear Classmates, I (FINALLY) attended a reunion meeting yesterday and I could not believe all the work the committee has done! Alice had her laptop going, Carrol had a big binder full of notes and the others had their pen and paper. I did not realize how much work they have done for us inorder to have a great reunion. I felt so guilty by not being there sooner. It seemed that Tommy Dye would always be offering to get "this and that", Maria purchasing "this" at Sam's, Margaret with her samples, Gerry Sue with her list of payees (PLUS she donated a door prize!), Lynn, Tony and Tommy P. with their great suggestions, and Cyndie volunteering to be at the registration table. I can honestly say that I have not laughed that much in a long time. Carrol kept everyone in stitches. She is the type of person you want to be around all the time. There were three new attendees: Janice, Steve and myself and I know we were all amazed at how well everything is organized. Then, to top it off.....a great feast!!! I wish we would do something to repay these wonderful, hardworking classmates for all they have done. I know they would say "no, we don't want anything" but I was there and witnessed all they have done. (Maybe give them free registration?) If not this, please go and thank each of them for all their WORK. They have volunteered alot of time, gas to and from, the facility, food and unspoken amount of money for supplies/etc. Please, let's give this some thought. After all, if it wasn't for them, we would not be having the wonderful reunion we're going to have!!!

=====================================================
Aaaaawwwww, Marian, I've always loved your sweet and tender spirit. Thank you for the wonderful report on the reunion meetings. Honestly, they have been some REAL HARD work, late hours, corporate decision making. This will be a reunion you won't want to miss..... Alice D. Smith

Wow Marian such a good report! I agree I can not make it down there to help but if there is something I can do from here Volunteer me! I will have my registration in the mail this week and am working on some kind of door prize. Hats off to all of you girls and guys for you hard work. I for one do appreciate it and this web site has been crucial it seems to me in getting all informed. Look how many have come forward in the last few weeks.

Kathy I hope all is well with Ricky. I will pray for you and him and that both will recieve the strength and comfort you need. Hang in there kiddo.

Dickie love the Truckers Diary

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Marian-thank you for the kind words. I, too, am a late comer to the meetings, so I can't take credit for anything. Just trying to help where I can. The original group has done a fantastic job and this reunion is going to be soooooo much FUN! I, too, want to add my thanks to the committee for all the hard work and time they have put into this effort.

WE'RE STILL GREAT!
WE'RE STILL FINE!
WE'RE THE CLASS OF 69!

================================================
Yes, we are Margaret!!! Thank you for coming to the last few meetings. We are going to have a fun, fun time this reunion. Alice Day Smith

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Another thing- there are only FOUR (4) people signed up for the gumbo/chili cook-off. Come on, FOLKS! I know
there are a lot more cooks out there! SIGN UP!
**************************************
Margaret, it is now known as the Gumbo/Chili/ROADKILL cook-off - maybe folks will feel more comfortable participating with less restraints on the menu. AND, actually there are 7 known participants.
Carrol

Janice Mangum (Colwell)

It was my first time to attend a reunion planning meeting and it was a blast. Things went very smoothly in spite of the laughter and joking around. Carrol and Alice and the rest of the committee are doing a fantastic job of making this the best reunion ever. Marian and I were in awe of the organization of it all. It won't be my last meeting, and if you live locally and/or just want to make a quick drive for the next meeting, it will whet your appetite for what's to come in September. I am so excited. Don't miss it!!!
