Joy
I will bring my chainsaw and atv and will help out any way I can. Does anyone know if you can drive atv's on the beach? Friday night sounds awesome!! Is drift wood still abundant on or near the beach after Ike and where can one find an outhouse to top off the bonfire... snicker

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Guys,
Please remember we are under a fire ban down here-and it includes the beach. Hopefully, we will have enough rain between now and then to cancel the fire ban. I checked with my BCSO son about the atv-he said no because the beach is the same as a public roadway and definitely not in the dunes because they are too destructive. It's like a $500 fine if you ride one out there. Sorry to be a wet blanket.

Jd Barnett:

A wet blanket is just what you need for fires...;-)

Burning down Surfside would make it a memorable reunion, but I don't think we would enjoy the buffet supper at the County Jail.

Susie (Gerry Sue) Reichenbach (Tyler)

Hey Margaret: Can fireworks be done at the beach????

Wasn't sure if there was a ban on them since that's Village of Surfside-you know how cops are!!

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Don't know about the fireworks-have to check that out. They could also cause a fire. I'll see what I can find out.

I'm definitely ready for a beach party but arter living at Surfside for a bunch of years, I will fill you in
on how things have changed. Surfside has a NO BONFIRE ordinance, not sure how they can tell the difference between a bonfire and a camp fire but wouldn't want to get into an argument with one of Surfsides 300 pound cops to find out. And like every other city a no fireworks rule too.
So the simple solution is to move to the county beach or even over to Quintana. No beach parking fee at either.
When someone is ready to go ahead with this idea give me a call I have truck and trailer to move lots of firewood. Just need firewood.

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

OK guys. I am going to reveal my "anulness".

I am beginning to panic about missing out on reunion fun.

angst #1: How do we know how to get to Joy's beachhouse?

angst #2: I will also be driving from Hobby airport on Friday. My flight is supposed to land around 3:30. Will I have time to get luggage, my rental car, and drive there in time to register before the game? Are ya'll going to leave me?

angst #3: What gate???

angst #4: Gerry Sue, I couldn't find hwy 518 on my Google map. Just 288 and then there are 2 of them. Which one should I take? I haven't been to Hopper Field since we walked it in 1969.

I know I can count on my buds to help me out.
Thanks ahead of time.

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Judy-
Have no fear, we would never leave you.

Joy-tell us about the beach house-who did you rent from because we can google directions from their website.

Judy-you should have plenty of time providing the plane is not real late. We can provide you with detailed directions from Hobby. You will be able to find us-there will be a State Farm canopy that we will be seated under.
The detailed directions will tell you which 288 to use. One is the old 288 that you are familiar with-which is also known as 288B, the other is the new 288 which bypasses Alvin, Angleton and all the other little towns along the way.

Don't worry babe-we won't let you get lost.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

Judy, we will give you a bunch of cell phone numbers . . . and there is still only ONE gate at Hopper field. What time is Cyndie Chrystal's flight getting in? She said she was coming in from Hobby, too.
Judy, NOBODY, including Joy, knows how to get to Joy's beach house right now but we will all know when the time is right.

However, if you mess it all up really, really badly, yes, we will leave you and go off and have all the fun in the world without you even though you flew all the way from Georgia to see a bunch of old people you used to know and wouldn't recognize now if your life depended on it. Yes, that is exactly the kind of people we are. AND we will all turn our phones off so you can't reach us. AND if we see you on the side of the road lost & crying, we will honk & point & laugh at your goofy behind because THAT is who we really are. Oh, and Gerry Sue made FM 518 up just to confuse you, she's been laughing about it for days.

Kitty Allison (Hilton)

Hi Guys, I'm starting to get a little concerned, too! I haven't been in the area in almost 20 years. I'll be coming from Intercontinental to my hotel/motel. I'll arrive the night before. Don't want to be left out of any of the fun...or run too late! My vision is as if I know my way around, but I don't think I should rely on my instincts! I'll bring a GPS.

Kitty Allison (Hilton)

I just found the picture I was looking for with Doris!!! I'm so relieved and grateful. It's at my Sweet 16 BD...only problem is I had a serious case of mono. A bunch of the girls came over to say HB...many were preparing for Saturday night dates and have their hair in curlers! So cute...a real sign of the times! Just scanning and will post asap. Also, found a few pics from the 20-year reunion! Gosh...just gotta love the 80's!

Kitty
The plan is to give out cell phone numbers of those that are willing that live locally, so if anyone has any problems or gets lost, they can contact us.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

I've just removed both Kitty's and Margaret's cell numbers from the message forum. Ladies, this is much too public to be posting numbers. EVERYONE on the www has access to the forum. Margaret, maybe you could send Kitty a private email with your number? Do you REALLY want the squirrels of the world to have your cell #? For crying out loud, Jim Barnett & his host of other selves and Glenn Mallory, people like that are on this website all of the time. Close call, huh?

Thank you, Boss lady. That thought did cross my mind, but I don't claim to be the brightest light bulb in the box.

STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! POEHL ONLY GETS AWAY WITH THAT BECAUSE HE LIVES IN AUSTIN.

It's a scary world out there.
