To the committee-thank-you so much for all of your hard work to make this a wonderful reunion. You ALL outdid yourselves-it was fantastic!

Maria Seidler (Atkins)

Carrol,

I couldn't agree with you more....Gerry Sue helped with so many things. Not only did she handle all of the mailouts for the reunion and kept track of all of the responses, and the checking account activity, but she hosted all of our committee meetings, served fantastic meals, drinks and desserts.

Whenever you and Alice were not quite agreeing on something she served as the referee and said "I will take care of that". She was awesome.........and it was a pleasure to have her as part of the team to put on this fantastic event.

Michael Poehl, I think we need to add one more denim shirt to the list of recognition for Gerry Sue and it can be labeled "no problem" or "referee" or something else...more creative.

Anyway.....Gerry Sue, thank you so much for everything you did to make the reunion the success that it was.

LOL,
Maria
**********************************
Why whatever do you mean, 'you and Alice were not quite agreeing on something'? I don't recall anything like that. Sic'em Honey, do you? Alice and I are like 2 peas in a pod (I fear) and are in complete sync on most everything. This is how rumors get started - vicious.
special, precious carrol
===================================
Oh, special and precious Carrol, I'm with you. Not a SINGLE disagreement between us...it was just typical "sister bickering." We are sisters, you all should know. Sisters in Christ! And that's the BEST KIND OF SISTER. I DO AGREE with you Carrol, "we are 2 peas in a pod." ;-) Alice

Thanks to the committee for a wonderfully planned and executed event. The food was delicious. The night was great fun and we loved every minute of it. Thanks to Lynn Langham for gracing us with her singing. Freddie and I both had a great time. So wonderful to see everyone. Thanks again for all of your hard work but it was definitely worth it.

Fantastic job, Reunion Committee! I know you exceeded everyone's expectations.
It was so great to rekindle old memories and take a flash back to our past of carefree high school days.
I hope everyone was able to reconnect with your running buddies.
I wish everyone a safe journey back home, a restful Labor Day and good health so we can all get together again in the near future!

Hello everyone!

I just want to let you know that my store in Downtown Lake Jackson will be closed on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH, as my employees wanted a day off and frankly I need one too. I am sorry if you did not get a chance to visit me there.....but maybe the next time you are in the area.

I do appreciate all of you that had a chance to stop in on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.....as I had a ball visiting with you and reconnecting with many of you that I didn't get a chance to get to know in high school. It was great getting to meet your spouses as well.

If you didn't get a chance to stop in on this trip, Please feel free to do so in the future or email me and let me know you are coming so I do not miss you. My shop is constantly evolving...and I am having a BLAST with it.

Remember Maria's BLING BLING SHOP called Forever Treasures located at 217 Parking Way in Downtown Lake Jackson, next to CURVES.

Have a safe rest of the weekend.

Maria
**************************************
I was in there Friday and Maria came to the 'other' room and said, "I think there may be some of our classmates here - there are people hugging, come see if you know who they are!" Sure enough, it was Joe Ballard & his wife and Claudette Coppin & her sister, Beverly. Susie Patton was there, too, but she was BUSY buying all the Yellow Box shoes in her size. Maria's store truly has stuff you want.

You know, what made this reunion special was the PEOPLE. Y'ALL CAME. We could have had the best party in the world planned. If YOU hadn't come, it would have just laid there. YOU MADE IT HAPPEN. It would have been so easy to find reasons NOT to come but YOU CAME. By showing up you honored a piece of your personal history and because we share history, your honored someone else's. People and time are precious and that is what made this a good reunion. Thank YOU.

Alice Day (Smith)

I remember the movie, "Field of Dreams." (One of my favorites). An inner voice told Roy, "if you build it, they will come." Over all the objections of friends and family, this extraordinary visionary plowed down part of his cornfield to build a baseball field. And as his convictions had told him, "they came." People from all over the nation came to Roy's baseball field in the middle of rural America.

Well, Brazosport '69, we believe in conviction; we live for a fresh challenge to walk in; we embraced our destiny when we graduated, and as I watched all of you this weekend, it was clear to me that you are continuing to embrace your destiny and live your dreams. Have we had struggles, you bet! Defeats, no doubt! Victories, AMEN. Quitters -- NEVER. Let's cast our eyes into the horizons of the impossible! Believe BIG! Fulfill your life mandate! If you haven't started, start NOW.

Oh...by the way, you CAME. It was a great, great weekend. One I will never forget. I love you. Alice

My heart is so full of joy and love from this great reunion. Some of you I have not seen in 40 years. I felt connected to everyone, even those I only knew casually. Thank you to the great committee of planners and doers for the Class of '69. I can't wait for the next event and let's definitely stay connected through this great site.

To the planning committee: I love you all and you are an amazing team.

To everyone who asked about Marcus, I thank you so much. You filled my heart with such joy as you talked about what a great guy he was. Thank you for remembering my dear sweet brother.
Love you all,
Pam

I would like to thank my husband, Mickey, for making this a memorable weekend for me and the twirlers. Unknown to me, he spent several weeks "making" batons for each of us, making a "time capsule" out of a card board box, writing a "commitment from the twirlers" to put in the capsule & contacting Mr. Crummel, the band director, asking him to present this time capsule to the twirlers at the football game. It was a total surprise to me & the other ladies. I know this is long but I wanted to share what he wrote to put in the "time capsule". This is "suppose" to be what the twirlers wrote in 1969 (my husband loves to have fun!!).

"SENIOR EXPORTER TWIRLERS OF THE CLASS OF 1969

On this the last day of school for the school year 1969 we the Senior Twirlers swear to the following:

1. To have our Sacred Batons sealed in this Time Capsule for purposes to be described later in this document.
2. That - Such Time Capsule is to be maintained in the inter bowels of the band storage room for safe keeping.
3. That - This Time Capsule shall be opened 40 years from this date on the night of Sept 4, 2009 at the Exporters football game.
4. That - With these Sacred Batons, shall at that time, again take to the field, in all our radiant glory, to re-establish ourselves as the dominant twirling force in southeast Texas.

To the above we pledge our sacred honor on behalf of Brazosport Exporter Twirlers everywhere.

Sworn to this date by the Senior Twirlers of the Class of 1969"

Not sure how my precious husband came up with all of this but he was DELIGHTED that he surprised me & the other twirlers. We had a lot of fun with this all weekend. He made copies of this "commitment" and gave it to each of us. Thank you to Mr.Crummel & my husband for making this a memorable reunion for us.

I am SO IMPRESSED with all of the spouses that came along that are not 'from around here'. I mean, it was great fun for us because we know and love us. They don't know us and probably don't think 'us' is fun. Kudos to the spouses who came and EXTRA POINTS to those who played along!

Tana,

What a great surprise for you and the rest of the twirling squad. You do have a very special hubby. He certainly created a lot of great memories for you and the rest of the ladies.

What a weekend!!!! As a Senior in High School in 1969 I couldn't fathom where my life would be forty years later. I surely didn't expect to still be in Brazosport. I never could have imagined that after 6 years of college (at three different campuses) that it would be a trip back home that would lead me to a beautiful woman who just happened to be a 69 graduate herself. Having left the ranks of the "contractor maintenance personnel" in 1974 and being placed on every nasty job in the blocks, I swore to myself I would never step foot inside Dow Chemical again. That little nasty word "never" reached up and "bit me". Now after 21 years of living the Dow Chemical life I'm still looking to escape! I know there are places in God's creation that are so much lovier than Brazosport (Kathy and I have been lucky enough to enjoy many of them) but there's something about being home. And to see so many friends and classmates from "another time", brought home even closer.
It was truly great to see so many people from a truly remarkable class reaquaint and enjoy each other. Thanks to all who made it happen. Our class was truly blessed with so many different talents. And Dee.... Keep the boat but remain in God's service. Seriously, you did a wonderful job this morning. To the class of 1969....
stay safe, stay young, and thank God every morning for the opportunities he has given to each of us. Until next time.

Marc,
You & Dee truly touched my heart today. You both are truly men of God & that is so good to see. This world needs many more "men of God". Both of your wives are very blessed. Thanks again to everyone for the worship service today.

I too want to thank everyone that made this weekend special, the committee and all the classmates that came. We just got back home a few minutes ago and I couldn't wait to get on this site to see what people were saying. Tana, you said a lot and I agree with everything you said. The Sunday Service was wonderful, thanks guys. Like Tana said it touched many hearts and made the tears flow. I am very tired from the busy weekend, but so glad I did it all. It will be hard to wait another 5 years before we do it all over again. I sure hope that the 60 year old birthday party cruise takes place.
Tana, I will expect to see you on Facebook soon. Thanks again and love to all.

What can I say you all my fellow classmates have said it already. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!! These memories can not ever be taken away from us. It was truely one of the most memorial points in my life. We are just getting better with age....like a fine wine. Thank you to everyone for all you did to contribute to this reunion. I heard not one cross word or anything negative. Can we do it again!!! Wow I am speechless and thats hard for me RIGHT? I am gonna be feasting on all of this for a looooonnng time! Love you all and I truely mean it. My only regret is that I missed Sundays service because of my own family needs. Wow it was great lets keep this post going and maybe we can have over 3000 pages before the five years are out!

========================================================
Joe, you were a blast to be around this weekend. And thank you for all your help. Judy Teague and I said in all the years growing up with you at First Baptist Church, we had never known you to be a "talker." Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllll, we agreed you made up for it this past weekend. I love 'ya man!!!!!! Alice

Jane Reeves (Wied)

Thanks to all those who were on the reunion planning committee. There was something planned for everyone! I wasn't able to go to the game on Friday (I think I must have been the only one who missed it!), but everyone I talked to had a wonderful time. I can, however, speak for the gathering on Saturday night. It was GREAT! The tribute to our deceased classmates and faculty was especially touching. I tried to take alot of pictures during the evening but would always get side-tracked by seeing someone else I wanted to visit with. I had so much fun! The Sunday morning worship was the perfect finish to this memorable event. Marc's singing, Dee's sermon, as well as the other participants made me so proud of our class. Thanks be to God for the class of 1969! Do I hear an Amen?
If anyone wants my opinion, I'm up for a cruise whether it be to celebrate our 60th b-days or our 45th reunion. I love you all and can't wait until our next time together, whenever it might be.

My goodness, I thought that after flying back to Atlanta and spending the night with my son that I would be able to express myself without crying or searching for words. There is something very special about the BHS class of '69.

Thanks to all involved in the planning. I felt bad being so far away and not helping out. But I'm so glad you made it possible for us to join up together. I don't think I have hugged that much and that hard in all my life. I can still feel the warm hugs, and see the sweet smiles. We may have a few more wrinkles, pounds, and gray hair, but I have never been with a more beautiful group of people in my life.

Dee, I'm sorry I had to leave before the service was over. I walked out with a lump in my throat. The service was wonderful. What more can I say that hasn't been said? Just making sure that I keep my calendar clear for the next one!

Love to all you sweet friends. And yes, we were blessed beyond measure to be in that place at that time.

Anne Vickers (Ondrusek)

I'm so sorry I was not able to make the service on Sunday but had to get back to a sick husband. I don't know if there would have been enough Kleenex for me if I would have gone. Dee, I would love to have a copy of your sermon and if the service was recorded, let me know . But I know His Presence was there and in the hearts of all . I also want to thank the reunion coordinating group and felt it an honor to sit with Carol and Gerry Sue. It still amazes me that as we have moved on in our lives that you are the people that bind my past. Joe Fleming said," you were my 1st grade girlfriend." This was not just a high school reunion, it was a first two decades of our lives reunion. Thank you for the realization of your importance and presence in my life. God Bless you All, If you are coming thru Richmond Tx. Give me a call, I would love to show you Growing in Grace Community Gardens. Love you all
